Bricks/Plates for technic aesthetics
mvshabeer replied to mvshabeer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI am planning to use bricklink I have got around 4000 pcs of technic now. I think that's enough for now. Now I think it's better to only buy parts I need like wheels, bricks, plates etc.. Do you guys know the part numbers of most used bricks/plates

Bricks/Plates for technic aesthetics
Hello I am new to technic/Lego. Currently I only have few new technic sets which only have the studless beams. I have seen many people here building mechanic parts with studless and building the body with bricks/plates which looks much better. Is there any sets I can buy to get these bricks/plates (creator/star wars?). I like the 10242 MIni cooper, But the color is not useful with technic :(

EV3 / NXT vs PF in Technic vehicles
mvshabeer replied to mvshabeer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingInteresting, but I didn't got how it's possible to control drive/steering and 3 weapons with 1 remote

EV3 / NXT vs PF in Technic vehicles
mvshabeer replied to mvshabeer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks for the quick responses either way I might need PF motors I just did a test to see how the 2 coupled EV3 large motors drive the 42029. Even with 2 motors connected to the rear drive it's really slow and no enough torque. Do 2 XL motors give better performance.

EV3 / NXT vs PF in Technic vehicles
Do anyone use EV3/Nxt motors? I have EV3 and have no PF elements. I tried to motorize (drive/steering) the 42029 with EV3 but feels like there is no space. Also the EV3 brick itself adds lot of weight. I bought ev3 to make the vehicles I build to be intelligent. This way I think I can only use EV3 for something that sits on the table rather than moving :( I am considering buying whole set of PF 1x servo 2x XL motor 1x L motor 1x M motor 2x IR reciever 1x IR Remote 1x Speed remote 1x Battery box This almost cost $150. Do you guys have any tips to use EV3 with Technic (vehicles) and hence minimize the PF elements purchase Thanks Shabeer

1H2015 Video Reviews
mvshabeer replied to Sariel's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingExactly what I like to do. Technic (or Lego) is all about building and made for builders. Once it's built, it became a functional toy. Now there is no point putting it in the shelf and staring at it. Take them apart and build something again. :)

Alternative to Pneumatics
Dear all Just saw this video I think this is a fantastic alternative (and cheap) to lego pneumatics (which is not smooth). Anybody tried with lego?

Autodesk Inventor vs LDD/SR 3D
Thanks for the tips. I will stick with SR3D :) Eventually I will get better. What exactly is alternative UI, Is it better to turn it on/off?

Autodesk Inventor vs LDD/SR 3D
Thanks for the quick replies :) If that's the case modelling on inventor wont be an ideal solution. Fitting every pins & axles precisely will be painful. Just had quick search over the net, Seems like need to most of the special parts are not available. I got interested in inventor when I saw this video earlier. Well, I actually like SR 3d builder considering it as a free and "in development" and it has tones of features, but I am using Autodesk products like Max, Maya, Mudbox etc.. all day for work. When I first got my hands on SR3d i was like "no way". The main thing that annoys me is there is no home grid and how dynamic grids popups everytime. I really dont know if I am moving an object or panning the view. The snaps sometimes work very well (with pins). But if I try place a beam over a beam, it's not getting the job done properly. May be it's just me, that I'm expecting kind of smooth navigation and tools which I'm used.(which is in there after decades of development :) ) Over time I will get use to it. I really like how the gear/pneumatic animation works.
