hold on now, the new specialized version is true to my original vision, the one that should have came out but technology wasn't caught up yet. but in all seriousness I just hunted down an original VHS tape of ANH, before that was even added to the title and I do look forward to Disney releasing an original theatrical blueray of the OT films some day (was that confirmed, or just a rumor I haven't followed Disney announcements well)

Greedo didn't shoot first, he never shot at all in MY version of star wars, he intended to take Han in alive, Han killed him and is a smuggler and murderer. also everyone knows that the Shenanigan Wars were fought between Darth Pineapple, and Jedi Master Ham, on the planet of Pizza Hutta, it says so in the book I wrote
  4. I hate to resurrect this old thread but what ever happened to indexing mocs? there have been so many wonderful builds most of which are lost in the depths of this section.

the UCS is 104 studs long, and for a minifig at 1.8 meters tall it should have been 100 studs long, that UCS MF is one of the closest to figure scale in overall size, even if some features are a bit off.
  6. McLaren, as a fan of the real car the model isn't very accurate, but then neither is the Porsche, or either Ferrari. the Light Orange color of the McLaren though I really do enjoy even if finding parts for modding it is difficult. the LaFerrari is second fairly good model, and the unprinted canopy is very useful for mocs.
  7. Also don't forget that every mold has a lifespan, when that is used up you need to buy new molds anyway, most of the time its just the same mold again, but when you can save 1% more plastic in the mold change you take it. my example in the milk bottle continued, most production machines making the gallon bottle are 6 or 8 head machines making a set of bottles every 7 seconds. so assuming its 8, at 7 seconds and you can save 1% more plastic each bottle (.38 grams in this case) in 1 set you save 3.04 grams, in the first minute you save 26.05grams (nearly 1 whole bottle) and the first hour...1563.4 grams (~3.5lbs an hour saved) that's just 1 machine in 1 hour. Lego is likely running more than 1 machine for these parts and making around 20-50 of them per machine cycle.
  8. MOCs are the single best distraction for the "I gotta have set XXXXX" ...... right until I realize the pieces I want to use to finsh my MOC properly are in a set that either is discontinued or just as much as the one im trying not to buy... now I've got 2 sets to go buy to appease the Lego craving, and I usually do plus a polybag, and maybe a completely other set I didn't know I liked till I got to the store. Actually the real best way to avoid spending on Lego is to have something else to spend it on that isn’t optional (food, kids, car issues, other life costs) and when you come up short on one of those because you bought that new UCS set, or rare older set you learn quick to prioritize more appropriately.
  9. ^ correct answer, every gram of plastic maters in processing costs, (I work on the mold maker side of things) and our primary task is to give the customer a mold that looks and functions as they want but uses the very lowest abount of plastic possible. your standard Dairy Milk Gallon can be as light as 38grams! yet holds 8.5lbs of fluids. (deformation is allowed on those bottles )

75090 speeders are horribly over sized for minifig scale the bikes are listed as 3.98meters long which in studs is just over 11 long, those bikes are over 20 studs long in lego form nearly 2 times the size they should be. this is true of nearly every speeder bike Lego has given us so far, its just too hard to match to scale and still look like a speeder bike in Lego parts (while also meeting Lego's durability requirements)
  11. yes, i tossed out the standard chassis they use and the pieces used to mount the wheels (2x4 brick/plate) and rebuilt the underside to clear the axle. the only real issue is that it raises the driver 1 plate, which fortunately Lego already raised the drivers a plate so you can just remove the extra plate to get him back under the canopy/windscreen.
  12. thanks everyone, nearing the end of the second week of daddy life and I am finding that the best way to spend spare time is building (or sleeping) with Lego its easy to "pause" and take care of things that come up(as opposed to MMO's where pausing isn't always an option). big builds are a bit harder to progress on though, but smaller ones seem manageable so far

it is but it isn't, the bright side of Disney moving star wars forward is that things George Lucas didn't agree with now have a slim (very slim, but still existent) chance of going into full canonization. example, Boba Fett (yes I am a fanboy) George says Boba fell into the pit and that's that, EU said he survived, Disney says he may yet survive we haven't released anything to say either way but we will look to the now "Legends" material for inspiration in upcoming films/books/other. So at this point everything still could be used, or none we just don't really know. what we do know is that Disney wants fans and money from them, there are lots of ways to keep us happy and buying, one of which is to do their best to alter their story to include as much of the old EU as they can, and I expect they will surprise us on that front (in a good way) same goes with events before TPM, its now legends, but still open to be used for future projects.
  14. my solution (when I can use it) is to go with a technic rod, takes the flex out and adds more clearance through the hole. rolling distances are much better, but again this only works in certain builds I don't think any of the standard cars can make use of this change easily.
  15. I hope that they manage to get the design right WITHOUT stickers! I can understand a few for the Ferrari Logos, but they had best figure out a way to get all those NACA scoops and other small features in rick form.
  16. that sounds fantastic, you will definitely have to post up pictures when your done.
  17. Thanks, I try to build things I most people haven't done yet, (in this scale that is) also I reworked the tail a bit, I think its over all a vast improvement. .
  18. yup, your go again then :)
  19. this might be easy, and it might not
  20. careful with wording, my quote of you is your words after all! :) also sweet, will be calling soon though!
  21. Gran Torino I think.
  22. usually the first month of a set is still at rrp (so same as Lego Stores) after that they increase.
  23. just entered my first build to your contest the Pagani Huayra! (posted in my Garage thread, more pictures there, and Flickr)
  24. New Car! The Pagani Huayra! The Pagani Huayra is an Italian mid-engined sports car produced by Pagani. The Huayra was named "The Hypercar of the Year 2012" by Top Gear magazine and received a very positive review when tested by Richard Hammond on Top Gear. The Huayra is currently the fastest car to go around the Top Gear Test Track, setting a time of 1:13.8 And now, for the first time, it is available for minifigs to enjoy! (disclaimer: first time in speed champions styling) The Profile of my model is very sleek, low and in my opinion very elegant. but lets be honest here i am trying to replicate a real car which embodies all of those same features. it is also very easy to see that Yes, a Minifig does fit! comfortably too! here we can see Pagani's signature quad exhaust! Smooth short hood indicating mid engined power plant, and narrow nose another common feature on Pagani cars. also easy to see in this view are the tall spindly side mirrors. Lastly is a comparison with the official Lego McLaren P1, showing just how well this car fits in with the rest of the Speed champion cars! also at: http://http://www.mo.../moc.php/409383 I hope you liked my build! comments and Critiques always welcomed!
