  1. is there a maximum size on this one? or are we free to build as large as we dare go? EDIT: never mind overlooked the "there is no restrictions" line.
  2. Im assuming we lost valuable info in your merge, which set is this in reference to?
  3. and that's why they do that.
  4. This is great news? that his replacement is still flawed? I'll continue holding off on making my request until I hear of someone receiving one spelled correctly.
  5. picked up set 7144 Slave I, waiting on delivery now, so very close to completing my slave I collection!
  6. ^ Racer is right, if you watch the video between 2:15, and 2:35 you can see several nations flags: Italy, USA, Germany, UK, Denmark, France, Russia and Spain

Thanks, I originally built it with stripes (which ended up looking like 1 very wide stripe) but after going back to my reference car (the ’66 Ford showed at Detroit auto show) I found no stripe on that car and decided mine should be the same. Feel free to share this with her, I’m not on Jelopnik myself. And thanks for the compliments.

I made Mention in my last MOC thread about building a car from "yesteryear" well after looking over many great cars from the 60s and 70s i settled on the Iconic Ford GT40, in particular the 1966 MKI. *History Lesson* As Many racing fans know the Ford GT40 holds quite an amazing chapter in Le Mans history. starting in 1966 the GT40 had come out of its development years and was primed to dominate the endurance racing scene. the MKII would win 24 hours of Daytona along with 2nd and 3rd. Sebring was another 1, 2, 3 finish for the Ford cars with the X-1 Roadster taking the over all. at Le Mans of 1966 the GT40 was running 1, and 2 late in the race and in an attempt to keep both Drivers happy with the result Ford tried to arrange a tie. Driver Ken Miles was however not satisfied with a tie, and in protest to Ford slowed his car in the final straight still taking second but removing what could have been an amazing side by side finish. 1967 was equally as successful with the MKVI taking Le Mans. in 1968 a rule change was applied that limited engine size and eliminated the MKII, MKIII and MKIV, leaving the older MKI cars still eligible. this change in rules left the MKI in great position for the season and lead to a Championship for Makes victory for Ford. the following year would be the end of the GT40s reign being almost 6 years older than its competitors. in a very close battle with Porsche's 908 the Ford GT would win but by mere seconds unlike previous years. the most remarkable detail of the 68, and 69 victories is that it was achieved by the exact same car - the legendary GT40P/1075. this to date is the only Car to win the 24hours of Le Mans twice. *end of history lesson* I've spent quite a lot of time on this one, more than my previous cars combined. with the history of the car, and my long standing appreciation of the car i had to get it right. My model is 16studs long and only 3 bricks 2 plates tall. so, without further ado here is my LEGO 1966 Ford GT40 MKI (road car). *Update: revised headlights to better match those found on the actual car* Ford GT40 headlights 2.0 as always, I hope you enjoyed my build, there are more pictures of the car in my Flickr, for those that want to see more. Comments and critiques welcomed!
  9. Welcome to the party RacerRabbit, seems that you are taking the same path many of the rest of us are wanting to go down too! in the mean time I recommend getting a jump on those mocs that's what ive been doing through this rather long wait.
  10. yup, that went from Meh, just another book, to I Must Have IT!!!! Proto Fett has always been my favorite piece of concept art, and this just hit it out of the park for me! too excited!
  11. Boba I would list as an exclusive from an advent (I agree holiday ones are expected so don't count) aside from little Boba, there are technically about a dozen exclusive to the previous 4 advents. usually due to a head swap (heads not exclusive to the advent of course) in reality there one other with unique parts, and that is Luke from 2014 with his unique legs. (white legs with printed wraps, all others are tan with printing)
  12. I tend to need inspiration to get going, once it hits I head to my parts bins (sorted by general type plates, bricks, slopes... and so on) this usually devolves over the course of the build into big rainbow piles. this is due mostly to the fact that I rebuild over and over or scavenge from older mocs I've been meaning to disassemble anyway. all of this while sitting happily on the floor like I did as a child (I plan to do this as long as my body will let me) if the project is particularly big I will build the main model on a table, but the sub assemblies still happen on the floor OH! and I always have some music playing at a reasonably loud level!
  13. Welcome to the party! great work on the custom figure! as for your other builds the only thing I will say is never stop experimenting! I've learned more from trying to put parts together (and mostly realizing it wont work) than I've ever learned from guides or instruction books. your tree based house is lovely, and I can see so much potential in it. I think I'm going to enjoy seeing what you can do in the future!
  14. the real debate here is how the figure is classified. as a figure you build it isn't exactly an "action figure" hence our term Constraction. IF Lego's lawyers have finally gotten that distinction into their contracts then its possible Hasbro can no longer fight them on the issue. I can also assume that the Disney and Lego combined force may finally gotten to a point where they strong armed the difference. if that is indeed the case then the only unknown is weather or not Minifigs are also considered mini constraction figures, or action figures (they are after all for less about the build and more about the figure) I also wouldn't be surprised if Lego didn't want to rock that boat while also fighting to be allowed to make the new figures.
  15. I just noticed the new fenders were used in the Town City Square a swell (dark bley)front of the Tow truck only good news is that it confirms we will not have to wait for more super cars to come out to get more fenders in different colors (also the tram front and rear windows are the new canopies from the P1, and LaFerrari) your GT-R LM looks great! I imagine yours is what mine would look like had I gone with a 6-wide. the ZX turbo is looking good too, but the GT-R steals the show. Link to my main thread: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105606 also figure I should add a picture to this thread as well (ignore the white fenders I didn't have red at the time):

wonderful bridge, as other have said there are so many amazing little details that just make things feel that much more alive. there is a very similar bridge near me and this has all of the charm that the real bridge near me has always had. I am curious though, is there a plan to incorporate this bridge into a larger layout? I ask because I can only imagine the wonder that would be contained in that layout of the bridge were a small part of it.
  17. the "excuse" of Old Republic isn't much of a stretch, sure your creation isn't L-cannon it does have a lot of styling cues from the Jedi Defender, on the interior. the front to back layout smooth open floor plan, rich bright colors, and lets not forget the signature deep red the old republic (and new to some extent) is known for. Now the challenge a Ship for the Sith Empire, you've proven over and over you can master the Republic, lets see your dark side
  18. any chance we can get a look at the back end? car looks great! and the orange screams MOPAR! (also I'd like to see this in purple, I'm a plum Crazy Fan)
  19. 45500-1: EV3 Intelligent Brick Pieces: 1 Price: £199.99 / $179.99
  20. ha, I know that pain, sun up to sun down was 8:15 till 4:45 back in December for me. only time I saw the sun was on lunch.
  21. yes in general 30-60 for a used an opened set, un opened sets are up around 120. brickpicker is a good resource for getting a ballpark for sets (it assumes complete with figures and instructions) Link for 8017: http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=8017-1
  22. Some people list sets that have never been opened at some insane prices (compared to original prices) 8017 used bounces around between $30 - $60 USD depending on figures included and overall condition of the set. so, it has maintained value well but its not unusually priced for a Star Wars set.

Great engine work, and the steering is brilliant, although I would be terrified to drive it seeing nothing linking left and right tires together also great use of the ice pick for door handles

that KTM X-Bow GTR looks amazing, I am going to hold off modifying my X-Bow until the Speed champion canopy is available. could be just what I need (along with some design rework) to attempt a X-Bow GTR. @gazumpty, I agree completely, I’m not a fan of the real car with a roof and my attempt (which I’ll be honest was kind of a lazy one) isn’t any better. The original Model much like the original car was never intended to be covered. So, while I wait for the new theme to arrive, I think I’ll work on a completely different car; I’ve done 2 modern cars recently time for something from yesteryear

well i said I'd look into getting a hard top on it and here is the result, I'm not overly thrilled with the final result but it is as low a roof line as i could create and still fit the driver in. also i did not have an orange roof piece available and instead of assaulting everyone's eyes with a neon green roof i jumped into LDD for this one. I'll be uploading the LDD files a bit later, and will update this thread when those are up with a link to where they can be found should anyone be interested in them.
