  1. I've seen those, the Kenner ones? They have a certain appeal, but are really dated. LEGO's really does bring those to mind. First thing I thought when I saw them.
  2. That's either Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit? If I had to guess, I'd say... Fellowship? Or is that the field from Two Towers? (the best guessing strategy- guess a lot so the chance of being wrong is very low)

I don't think they can use those Lord of the Rings molds again? I seem to recall hearing that the license holder said no? Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong? But I think they once put them on Pick-A-Brick, and then refunded people who bought them saying that they couldn't sell them? Or is that a fabricated memory? In any case, you brought up that map. Ah, that map. I remember it well. With the Elf on it. I highly doubt the current Elves theme or Lord of the Rings had any bearing on that, but I could be wrong. I remember the guy saying "sorry, no elves" in response to that image. It does seem odd that they would draw it and never make it- but if I recall correctly, every other faction had a decent description while the elves just had "a wooded world of magic and wonder" or something generic like that? I'd need to see it again, it's been like five years. I remember reading somewhere that the Elf was just a space filler?
  4. No! Not molded heads! It was okay for the Simpsons, because their heads are such odd shapes. But Scooby and the gang? (well, Scooby would be molded anyways) no, their heads are normal enough that they'd be okay as normal minifigure heads. I really hope they don't go molded.
  5. Well, it's worth trying, but some things to keep in mind- Those Clone Wars episodes were more or less done, Disney really only released them because they had them. Community is a fairly cult, and isn't nearly as mainstream or big as LEGO. They appeal more to fans, because frankly, fans are all they have. LEGO has far more. But, it's possible. The # is a good idea, those can be powerful. Twitter is a very powerful medium for change, so you never know. I guess if we all put the required effort, MAYBE we can do it. -And fortunately, I think we all pretty much agree on what we need in a last wave.

That Rex is truly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. I mean, the whole thing is fantastic, but that Rex really steals the show! Good luck on Ideas!
  7. Like Blakstone said, if it was Ghostbusters, they would probably not have put all four main characters in one set. I mean if they had plans for a full theme, they probably would've just put in Venkman and Spengler (or Stantz or Zedmore, I just think Spengler was most likely) and then announce the remaining two would be in another set to come later. I really doubt they'd just give us all the main characters all at once. That is very inconsistent with their classic marketing strategy of "split them up!" Scooby-Doo would be a dream come true. One of my favorite shows as a kid, and a perfect fit for LEGO. I hope, if this is a license, that it is Scooby-Doo. And with the new short sleeves, we can finally have a proper Shaggy without him looking... off, in some way. On Top Gear, I am also curious as to what happened to that. I couldn't see them going very far with that one, though. However, did anyone else see that episode of James May's Toy Stories where he built an entire house out of LEGO? I wonder if that is any indicator of a deal between the two companies?
  8. Welcome to Eurobricks, TheMomiX!
  9. So it was. It's been a few years since I've seen it, for some reason I must've mixed them up. He was truly the best part of the film.

I've already seen trees. A bit early, but whatever. Christmas is wonderful, although starting it too early may end up making the actual season less special...
  11. That's the right color scheme, but it's a bit light. The Rex in the film was a darker shade of brown than this. The middle orange color should be the lightest, reddish brown should be the middle, and then dark brown where it currently is, I think would look better. I don't know about the Lost World, but at least in III, the Rex was very green/gray. It was actually one of my favorite designs for the T-Rex, shame they killed him so quickly. Spinosaurus was okay, but truly, the coolest dinosaur in that film was Carnataurus.
  12. Interesting, thanks. Is there a particular brand you prefer, or will any sort do? I have a few from some years ago, but the colors were always way off for me.
  13. I seriously doubt that they'd put the Green Goblin in a brown hat. In fact, I know they won't. It's a pretty safe bet that that is for the CMF Goblin, but even if it isn't, it's not for the Green Goblin. They'll probably reuse that mold for him, sure. That's also a pretty safe bet, but I'm pretty sure that the piece picture is not for him. I agree, though I'm almost 100% sure that isn't going to stop anyone from using it. The situation is pretty desperate after the license was rejected twice, and I'm pretty sure this is close enough to satisfy people at this point. If I may be honest, I still don't think it'd pass. But I'm pretty sure the fans will try. Why not?
  14. I THINK they're talking about the guy in the blue jacket's hair from this picture here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84574&st=1900#entry2055630 Is what it sounds like. To me, that just looks like Sleepy Kid Hair, but I can't be too sure.
  15. I really like it, great matching on the torso and shield. And an excellent painting of the hair. If I may ask, what did you use to paint it? One suggestion though, try using a normal 1x2 instead of a slope for the dress. The slope is a bit awkward.
  16. So we shall. Do you think Sheldon will have a shirt he's worn on the show, or will they give him a "LEGO-y" one (like one with a brick or classic space logo)? Same goes for Leonard. How do you suppose they'll manage the height difference between Sheldon and everyone else? He isn't that tall, they are just shorter, but I don't think short legs are appropriate for most of them. What hairpieces do you suppose they'll use? I'd bet Sheldon will have the hair like Obi-Wan, Leonard like Malfoy, Howard the original Ron Weasley hair, Raj... Larry the Barrista? And I have no idea what they'll use for the girls. How much of the apartment do you suppose they'll make? Just the couch and TV? Maybe the bookshelves too? Expanding on the last question, how big is this going to be, and how much will it cost? Seven figures? That's a lot, I wonder if they'll actually do that... Do you think they'll reference specific episodes, like they did with The Simpsons ("I choo-choo-choose you, old man yells at cloud, etc.)? Maybe a cup labelled "urine cup" (it was on the bottom, but I'll accept it on the side) or a set of bongos (which you should never play walking down the stairs) or maybe even a robot arm (scratch that, that episode was far too inappropriate, but you never know). Do you think the figures will have double sided heads? Will they have arm/leg printing where needed? (ie, if they put Howard in plaid, will they print the arms, etc.). I know at least Sheldon will have short sleeves. Will the action figures be microfigs or trophies? That's about all I've got for now. That should start the discussion.
  17. Why do I have a feeling the number of Legend of Zelda CUUSOO projects is gonna shoot up when that Goblin hat comes out? Love the hot dog guy.
  18. I wonder why the staff keeps picking Lord of the Rings sets... Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what connection do they have to LEGO? (it is also possible that they aren't picking Lord of the Rings sets as often as I think they are, and it just seems that way since I don't really follow Ideas, but surely there must be some hope for an Ideas set if the staff keeps picking them?)
  19. All that detail on one minifigure is just fantastic. Those arms AND legs... I mean he looks as good from the side as he does from the front. The same can't be said for too many figures.

I think it was a sarcastic piece. I only posted it because I thought some of the jokes were funny. "Cool-Hand Luke" I thought was quite clever, etc. I do agree with pretty much everything you said, but I have only said the title doesn't sound good. I am withholding full judgement until the film comes out.
  21. Santa Clause on Doctor Who? What? Okay, I'll see where this goes. Could be interesting, but... Please tell me this isn't going to be a repeat of his relationship with Robin Hood. I could have lived without that...

In other news... http://observer.com/2014/11/these-star-wars-titles-are-much-better-than-the-force-awakens/ I guess I'm not the only one who didn't like the title.
  23. That is a mighty fine Osgiliath. Frankly, I think it has a WAY better chance than any Minas Tirith due to size. Plus, we'd still get our Gondor soldiers. Of course, it still has all of the other problems with ANY Lord of the Rings Ideas set, but after the Big Bang Theory got approved, I don't even know anymore...

He really said that? I have to wonder how he went from the creator/writer (and I think director too, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm having a brain fart) of what is often considered one of the best movies of all time, and then several other classics, to "continuity is for wimps"? What happened? I almost don't believe it.
  25. I think I know why I have a bad feeling about this. Kids watch the Simpsons. I know I did, and many others too. It may not be clean (at least not always, it can be) but kids do watch it. Do kids watch the Big Bang Theory? I don't think so. It isn't really something I would be okay letting a kid watch. It's a show geared more towards adults. LEGO has always been a "family" company, licensing products that parents and kids could enjoy together (and a few things that were just for kids, like Spongebob), but this is a step towards being an "everyone" company. Products that mostly just adults will like. And, while fine for most companies, is not fine for LEGO. They are a family. This is a shift away from that. And I guess that just makes me uncomfortable since that is a very slippery slope. If they start targeting just the adult market, what sorts of things will they make next? Breaking Bad? Game of Thrones? Walking Dead? Yes, all significantly worse than this, but do not forget that this is much worse than anything they would have made ten years ago. Who is to say that what they make in ten years won't be much worse than this? The slope is potentially slippery... But Yes, that NEEDS to happen. Maybe he sees two projects based on the same source, (ie, two USS Enterprises) and can't decide which one is better. Yes, I would like that very much.
