After ignoring the LEGO Modulars for a long time I realized it was not too late to step in. Reading this thread was really helpful as the prizes of the first three modulars or just too much for me. I started investigating which parts were essential for me and what possible substitutions could be. Luckily I already have quite a large Lego collection, so I only needed to order 20/30% of the parts for these first three sets. I managed to do a combined order using 7 stores on Bricklink for EUR 250 (excl. shipping) and am really happy with the results.

Many thanks Blakbird, Rebricker and others for this incredible effort. I finalized the Ball Factory and am in the final stage of completing the Invisible Lift. Next on my list will be the Cycloidal Drive or the Fork to Fork (both are fascinating).
Thanks all for the positive reactions!!! And yes white would be even better, but as I own almost all castle sets (which are mostly in light grey) this was the logical (and least expensive) choise!
@ Zblj: Amount of pieces, hard to say. I think at least 10.000+
Hardest struggles of the building proces were definitely the 7 layers and the use of rooms inside. Had to work very carefully at the end :).
Hello all,
Just finished my Minas Tirith project, which took me about 2 years to complete!
Don't know how to add pictures over here, but I will share the link to Flickr with you.
