Full Size Bugatti Chiron out of LEGO
Lucio Switch replied to AndroTech's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThis thing bother me a bit. I mean, overall the car is a masterpiece...but it's not all Lego...like the pneumatic car presented some years ago that wasn't made completely out of Lego (also this was a masterpice). From my point of view this is cheating, expecially if you claim that's made out entirely with Lego. Most of us "blame" who claim to have built the fastest lego car using RC components. From my point of view there are no differences between this two examples.

[MOC] McLaren P1 hypercar 1:8 manual & RC w/ instructions
Lucio Switch replied to brunojj1's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell i tried several times, the chassis it's not the real problem, it's all the rest that worry me. I have, from several month now, a chassis of an Alfa 155 DTM completed (well it start to be a Delta S4, but that's another story), and now I don't have a clue from where to start, especially if I had to compare my work with yours. At the end a truck is mostly a parallelepiped!

Lucio Switch replied to brunojj1's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'm a bit late to the party, but this MOC is awesome! Mind blowing panel work...this comment has even more value if you consider that I'm a huge Ferrari fanboy!

[MOC] Dakar Truck
Lucio Switch replied to Lucio Switch's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks! Instructions will come, but I don't know when! But I hope to do them in a short time, there is a lot less to do compared to what I usually have to do the BI of my Mocs. Thanks! Fun facts... your Dakar Truck inspired me, especially for the video...a couple of weeks ago I was in holiday at the sea and I had with me the truck, camera, tripod, battery charger....now try to figure out my face when I discovered that the battery where at home...so no sand in the video, just a bit of mountains. However, as you say, despite weight and size it climbing quite well, just the speed...if we can speak of speed! You are right, but I had almost the same problem with the other background...in white. Moreover the white of the truck was a bit more yellowish than the backgroud and in the pics it was quite unpleasant (a lot less in the video). Gray would have been perfect! Yes, no clicking or cracking noises, always on condition that you do not overdo it. I mean, before you can stall the xl motors a U-joint will broke. Fortunately in my case there is an axle in the rear...axle...that pop out if the driveline is too much stressed, disconnecting a gear of the differential. That's happened, it wasn't for pourpose, but since it help's me to save parts, I didn't fix it. Off road performance with locked diff are way higher than with open one. The outdoor part of the video has the differential always locked. Despite the 6x6 will be really cool, for a mod, I suggest to change completely the body, something like a pick-up, lower and lighter and I think it will become funnier to play.

[MOC] Dakar Truck
Lucio Switch replied to Lucio Switch's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt not only looks heavy, it is! The rear cover is around 1 kg, the cab even more! I think that with a lighter and lower body it could perform way better.

[MOC] Dakar Truck
Lucio Switch replied to Lucio Switch's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNope, I try to use the trans clear panel to do the lights, the rest was inspired by google. I thought about the spare wheels...some less flat surfaces, fake radiators in the back with air vents...but this means more parts and more weight....and still it weight too much. Same as above!

[MOC] Dakar Truck
Hi to everybody! It's been a while since I posted something new...so now here we are. Little prefaction, in the last year both time and motivations are dropped down, this Moc was almost ready in may 2017 and it took me a bit to find the desire to do pics video and instructions.....the instructions are not ready yet, but they are at a good point. IMG_2348 by Lucio Switch, su Flickr Now about the Moc, this is a sort of a Dakar Truck, it's a lot simpler compared to my usual Mocs, the idea behind it was to use the Claas Tires, trapezoidal panels...and don't use the parts of my Crane Truck, furthermore, to make it light (or try to do so), I added less details then usual. So it's son of a lot of (personal) compromises. It is driven by 4Xl Motors, 2 for the front axle and 2 for the rear and it's steered by a servo motor. 2 M motors are used to run the pump and to actuate a pneumatic valve. It's powered by 2 Li-Po battery and controlled by 2 SBricks. 6 pairs of Led are used for the lights. One small pneumatic pump, a pneumatic valve and 2 small pneumatic cylinders make up the pneumatic system. The truck has live axles with Anti Roll-bar, the differentials are lockable pneumatically. It has openale door, tiltable cab (with some interior details), and a door in the back to acces the battery. That's all, I hope you like it!

New personal Lego dark age looming?
Lucio Switch replied to Cumulonimbus's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSame here! In my case my son uses most of my time/energy, when he is sleeping I have potentially 2-3 hours for Lego (or other stuff), but often I enjoy so much the couch. But there is even a bit of lack of motivations. It's more than a year that I have a Dakar Truck ready, but I don't find the desire to make the video and even less the instructions. Another problem is that, personally, I raised the bar to much high with the last Moc (on my personal scale) and now I have some trouble to find some good ideas. I think my swan song will be with the next Moc (Dakar Truck excluded), not before, but first I have to finish distracting myself with the static modelllism to gain some desire back on Lego.

Kenworth T600 big scale RC + trailer
Lucio Switch replied to Sariel's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI would gear them differently. I don't know how is geared in this MOC, but I would increase the rpm of the whole transmission (decreasing the transmitted torque accordingly) and I would decrese the speed only in the portal hubs, this is how my Crane Truck worked. It weight 8.6kg.

Kenworth T600 big scale RC + trailer
Lucio Switch replied to Sariel's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFinally it's done!! It's epic! Lots of really cool details, but the microwave it's the cherry on the cake. I would have used 2 more XL motors instead the gearbox, I think that it could perform a bit better. But it's just my tought! Hats off!

Technic Pub
Lucio Switch replied to jantjeuh's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@Lipko I understand you, I'm just a couple of step in front of you. We bought and refurbish a house in the 2015 and we have a child in the 2016....and now it's more or less a year that I don't build seriously. I did a MOC (simpler than usual), but I lost interest due the lack of time and energy. Even the inspiration is dropped down. But I don't think that I will quit....I'm in a sort of a soft break, I spend no more than 5-6 hours/months building MOCs. In any case, good luck with your future projects.

Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Lucio Switch replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMy point of view is not about the standards, but more about the fact that in the last months the only things from the Technic Forum that were frontpaged are official set or contest (announcement and winning), I haven't see any of our MOCs and I think that this drown a bit the visibility on the main forum.

Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Lucio Switch replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, could I say that something is changed in the last period? I mean, back in the days, all my Moc was frontpaged and all of them are in the HoF, exept for the last one wich I (and not only) consider better than all my previous works. It's not a big deal, I don't care too much to have it there (well, is always a pleasure to have a MOC on the HoF), and I'm not asking for, but seems that if the MOC is not mentioned in this post doesn't worth to be on the HoF, and I think that something has been lost. One other thing, I understand the reason to create the Scale Modelling Forum, but I don't understand why the MOCs migrated are still in the HoF of wich, now, is only a Technic forum. I think that the scale modelling forum needs his own HoF.

75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017 MOD/MOC
For whom that might be interested, here you can find the BI of the Efferman's Vertical Stand (first version, not the "more angled" version): https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-10219/Lucioswitch81/effermans-vertical-stand-for-millennium-falcon-75192/#bi I hope that it will be useful!

Sure, a bit messy, but here it is! Ah! It was a bit tricky to apply the Falcon on the stand!

75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017 MOD/MOC
You made my day! I built it yesterday, and now I found a place for the MF (far from the hands of my 1 year old child). I find the whole assembly really sturdy, it's simple to build but still interesting for the various oblique beams. I find it very useful that it creates excellent points of grip. I didn't added any of the mods for the removable pannels and they stay where they need to be. The xlf file has some misallineaments, but it's still easy to understand the correct positions. The total width is 34cm, but it needs only 27cm to have all the support leaning (for those who trust). Thanks!!

Technic's 40th Anniversary - What are YOU going to do - Anything special?
Lucio Switch replied to nerdsforprez's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, it's not enough? I'm working even on a second one for this year, despite it will be smaller and less complicated than the aforementioned. I hope to finish it in time!

[MOC] International Lonestar Truck, VIDEO!!!
Lucio Switch replied to Aleh's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFinally it's finished! (well, I'm a bit late) Despite I have to say that there are a couple of pics that doesn't convince me totally, there are some that are wonderful and nailed it the complex shape! I know that it's the bottom and none will see it (unless you are an EB member), but can I suggest to be more clean with all the pneumatic hoses? About the differential issues, I think that a gearbox is useless, yes it's cool and complicated, but it just decrease the performances. My Crane truck has 4XL motors a bit up geared that drive the differentials, and after that they are down geared on the portal hubs. So you increase the speed on the differentials but you will decrease the torque that they have to endure.
