  1. Absolutely the 7740! :) When I was a child, I could only see it in brochures. As an adult, I could buy one at last, which I had to sell a year later. :( So still on my wanted list.
  2. I have found the post (it's from 2014), and this can not necessarily be considered a rumour indeed... Probably I was used to the fact that 1974 usually had quite reliable sources. But anyway, he has predicted it more or less, in 2014.
  3. I must admit that I only got to know about the new set only 2 days ago. But what really surprised me is not only that we will have a new Expert (or Adult) train set again, but also something else. I have read through this topic, and I have not found any hint of a previous rumour that appeared here on EB. It was back when we were expecting a new train set after Horizon Express was phased out. Someone shared a rumour here (I am not 100% sure, but I think it was 1974), that the next Creator Expert train will be an old electric locomotive, similar to Crocodile, in brown colour. I can remember clearly, how excited I was to read this, and then how disappointed I was when nothing happened. It was a few years ago, could be in 2015 or 2016. Can anyone else here remember this rumour?
  4. The first video of the actual set is out! :-) https://youtu.be/fmSpepGC4qc
  5. My goodness, that will be an instant buy for me!! I understand that Lego trains have come a long way and became more and more realistic, but I always felt that the charm and unique atmosphere of the '80ie's sets has simply gone, nothing's left of it. Today's sets rarely give me the "must have" feeling, so I will be extremely happy to have this (hopefully)! Maybe I'm too old (40, just like on the box ), but I think there will be others too who will be very-very happy with this set!
  6. Just an idea, but I'm not sure I'm right: could the Disney train be 8 studs wide because of the fact that the original is a narrow gauge one (914 mm), and making the Lego train 6 wide would be very unproportional..?

I'm not sure if this was posted yet, I guess not. :)

Have you seen the orange train door (probably only a left one) coming with the Arctic set 60195?

I agree with you all, and I understand what you say. :) I just wrote what was reported on zusammengebaut.com. We will see whether they were right or missed something. I also hope badly for a short shunter (which could still be a realistic idea for next year, when - hopefully - a second cargo train arrives), so I would like to see an integrated BT receiver too.

I have just read this report from the Nuremberg fair: http://zusammengebaut.com/lego-city-gueterzug-60198-und-passagierzug-60197-mit-power-functions-2-0-43773/ They claim that they could peek inside one of the new trains, and the BT receiver is there and is of the same size as the IR one. I am not 100% convinced though, that they are right with this. :) According to the Article, TLG is still working on an app to control the trains by a smartphone or tablet, so probably there will be a way to do that.

Thank You, that makes it more clear! :) I don't have any delete icon below the text editing section, when editing the post where my attachment was - maybe because I have deleted the picture from the post as first step. Now I tried to insert the same attachment to the same post, and edit it again, but nothing like a delete (attachment) icon appears any more... Seems like it's stuck for good, or I am missing something. :)

Hello, I keep getting a message that I am over my "attachments" quota (I have uploaded two pictures in a topic that I have started, that's all). Now I have edited my posts, where I removed the attached pictures and replaced them another way. Then I navigated to profile -> my attachments, but apparently there is no way to delete any of the pictures, even though they are not used in posts any more... I tried with Firefox and Chrome, no difference. Anyone knows maybe, how to do this...? Thank You in advance!

I am disappointed about this too! Yes, we are almost at the same age, this could be the reason... :) I was happy when 60052 came out, even though I don't like american engines that much. But at least it had a proper door! Maybe I'll get one now, because who knows if we're ever gonna see one again with doors. And the same goes for train windows... Looks like we always get a continuous row of rectangle-shaped glass lately. No proper train windows any more, though in real life, a lot of modern trains still have them...
  14. I join too... It would be awesome to get to know, who designed my favourite sets! :)

I couldn't agree more! Actually this description was the verbal one from last night (or afternoon in the US) - here on this topic -, and it was perfectly accurate. The leaked images/video that You think of were discussed about almost a week ago here. ;) I have dreamt of a passenger train with a locomotive and separate coaches, because we haven't seen any since 7740 (talking about City sets only), but only EMU-s or fantasy stuff (9V). Well, this dream came true, but not exactly the way I pictured it... :D This nose piece is a disappointment again. I like the color scheme though.

Does any of the new sets have a traditional train door or window? I mean the ones with rounded corners of the glass - no matter if large or small. On the video at least I have seen small, old-school train window pieces on the door imitation for the cargo locomotive. Or are there only square window pieces, like we have seen on 60051?
  17. Amazing MOC!! :) This is the most realistic Lego model of a tower crane so far that I have met! I can see You are a tower crane- and a ropeway fan too, just like I am. :) Cool!
  18. My goodness, this is beautiful! :-) I haven't bought Horizon Express back then, but if Lego had had released it in this colour scheme, I would have for sure! Now it reminds me much more to 7742! :-)
  19. I know this and that about real tower cranes, being that that is my #1 hobby. And I have to say it is very hard to build a realistic trolley jib tower crane with proper look and functions - this here is one of the very few that I have seen and I would say are *really* realistic!! Amazing stuff!! Have You finished the chassis since? Is the crane on tracks maybe?

Not exactly a train, but this project could be interesting, I have given my support yet. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/119603 I think it is worth supporting!
  21. Thank You a lot for the compliment!
  22. Thank You for all the compliments, it is really good to see that many of You followed the project and maybe I could even inspire some of You to try and do something similar! Since then, I have packed the train in a safe, dark place with no UV whatsoever, I want to remain as shiny as it is now. The only weak part is the factory rubber rims, as it turned out: even after a few circles, it started to slightly disintegrate (no heavy wear, just tiny pieces falling off), so I will not make run too much probably. Once I will have the furniture for it, it will be a piece for display.
  23. Are You gonna make a PF version?? If so, then I would like to see it and how You manage to fit all the PF stuff in there! I have plans to make a PF version too, but of course not with my "new" train: for that I would like to buy some used 7725 later. This one will probably never be disassembled any more.
  24. Here are some more pictures as I promised, my friend made these during building. Before starting, we prepared everything: Original rubber rims, they were in the box of the train motor: First car is beginning to take shape: ...and it's ready We removed the magnet coupler in the front later, as it should not be there according to the instructions Middle car: ...and this one's ready too Last car; instrument panel was not new though, but in very nice condition: ...and the train is ready!
  25. And a final shot of the train, from a side view: And - though I posted it previously - here is my train, running its first circles!
