Very hyped about the Dagobah set tbh - I'm an OT fan so I didn't have a Yoda since the outdated last Dagobah set. Lately there weren't many OT sets and I'm really not interested in Rebels, Episode 7 or PT sets. I cannot even get around to invest into the new TIE vs A-wing set, as it is technically not OT. And I would hope it comes with a muddy R2-D2 and a couple of brick built creatures. Also I wish it came with a Vader with Luke head, just for fun. But I'm afraid having Yoda and Luke will be sufficient to sell it and they won't throw in another main character like Vader or OB-1.

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
Zzz replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow, this looks like a step ahead from the old Ecto-1. I'm really surprised about the detail on this one, plus doors and ability to seat all minifigs. Amazing! Plus the black female minifig is just great, we don't get too many of these. This certainly looks like an ideas/ special edition /UCS /whatever you want to call it set, not your average basic licenced line-up set. I'm really surprised about what they're delivering here! -
I thought the same. I would have said Luke's X-wing in January 2018 and then the grey/blue one for the Episode 8 release in December 2018 - but this fast an identical version? This destroys all my hope for a new Red V with the new canopy piece.

It's reason enough for me to entirely disregard the new "official" canon. For me it's official until Disney and I couldn't care less about what Disney is doing now. Alone the fact that we probably won't get another Slave Leia ever from Lego (or Hasbro or whoever) is just so very beyond my capacity for rational thought.

And I thought there is finally one LSW set for me this year with Vaders Tie.. again it's a Rebels set. I'm happy for everyone who likes this years setup, but since there are quiet a few OT fans around here, I wonder if anyone is as disappointed as me from 2016: - Empire BP with one figure from the movies - Rebels BP with no minifig from the movies - Bespin set is not really interesting, overpriced, with only one new minifig - Hoth has nothing new to offer, very overpriced - Droid Escape has nothing new, overpriced - now Vaders Tie isn't an OT set = 2 minifigures, no army builder and no single starfighter, no interesting playset..... Only UCS Hoth and Snowspeeder left for me to hope. And with my focus on OT and my luck, the Snowspeeder might be the infamous Episode 7 one! OK, rant over - the last years have been a blast for anyone OT and I'm very aware of that: X-wing, Y-wing, Falcon, Snowspeeder, AT-AT, Cantina, Sandcrawler, Slave I, TIE, Star Destroyer, Tydirium, A-wing, B-wing, Ewok Village, Jabbas Palace, Sail Barge.... I know I shouldn't complain.

It's more an economy class flight and doesn't seem too pleasant for anyone involved but 3 in the back one on the bike - kind of works. And no, this is not 1st class travel. Let's see what the new one has to offer, but it seems very brick-built and sturdy from the outside, no hatches or plates under which could be any comfortable space at all..

I guess 76051 Airport Battle has the potential to become the ultimate Marvel playset for now, like Bagend for the LotR / Hobbit theme or the Cantina or Battle of Endor sets for SW. The buildings are a little boring, but the minifigures and Giant Man included is a great set, plus the Quinjet looks really nice and is a cool vehicle. And this all comes for an affordable and fair 80€. Too bad the Quinjet seems to be able to hold only the pilot and no passengers, while the bigger one was able to hold pilot, bike and at least 4 passengers.

Is it confirmed that the set will include minifigs? Perhaps it's not a playset but rather a 10143 Death Star II display piece.

Excuse me for not being clear, I meant that I wish we would get more side characters. The aliens in the 2016 Battlefront BP are nice, but I don't recall seeing alien scouts in the movies. And I'm surprised myself to praise Hasbro here, but they made almost all of the Cantina patrons into action figures - and this is never going to happen with Lego. I wish we would get a bit more fan service here, a little less product for the mass appeal. And for Cloud City / Carbon Freeze playset, I wish it was in the size of Final Duel, like number of pieces and size and price of the playset. I agree that it is a rather boring set and not very appealing in terms of build or minifigs. I didn't pick it up yet for good reason. Still, it has some nice play features and I might get this one day on good clearance for one purpose only: to display all of my Episode 6 minifigs. But imagine a playset this size with 8 minifigs that represents... the carbon freeze and Bespin duel. I could fall in love..

Already? I didn't know about that. It might even be that Hasbro would be happy to reduce the license to core products. As far as I know the license is already pretty expensive and like other licensees they were treated pretty badly when it came to the Rebels topic (no TV as originally promised when the products were out) and lost a lot of money. We will see. Back to topic, I might get some First Order Troopers (small and huge ones) next year, as I really like their design. But as an OT interested collector, I feel a bit cheated by the 2016 line-up. The Hoth set is a mess of bricks and the most awful looking Hoth set we probably ever got. The figures were easily available (one in the calendar, one in the Snowspeeder/ AT-AT years back, and the third one we got as free figure years ago. Not even a Tauntaun and the Probe Droid looks like something else, but not the one we had a couple of times - which looked like the one from the movies. The Droid Escape is nice but comes too often - we need more diversity I think. The BF battle packs are once again no real commitment to OT fans and try to balance it out to get the kids, players and collectors into the same boat, what once again doesn't work. There is just not enough inside for me as an OT fan. On the imperial side, only the technican is interesting, while the rebels would be more interesting coming with the OT hats as seen in Episode VI. Just give us battle packs with OT figures already, Lego! Imperial BP with Stormie, Officer, Droid, Scout - Rebel one with 4 camo troops - Tatooine with Jawa, 2x Sandie and Tusken. I guess I said this before but the Bespin set is not relevant to me with only one new figure and a boring build. It should have been in Final Duel size and quality with 8 figures. In total, I think Hasbro is providing much better fan service with all the minor side characters they release over the years. Lego is playing it save, too save for my opinion. We need more Aliens and side characters. And a new Dagobah set with Yodas hutt.

I'm just saying that I wouldn't exclude the probability of Lego being allowed to release their figures as blind packs or even just single for sale - on a bigger scale. Medicom is selling their figures only in the Asian market, so why not Lego in the Western market? And even if Hasbro has the exclusive right to sell 3 3/4 and 6'' figures, the Lego figures don't fall into that category. Also, those contracts change and with Legos current position as the #1 toy company, I simply wouldn't exclude the chance this might ever to happen. And about the magnets or vintage 3-packs of LSW figures - they were given the right and the license by Lucas to produce these - at first. It's a pretty difficult thing, what is allowed and what not, and I guess if Lego wanted to, there might some day be an opportunity to mass produce minifigures for single distribution. The question remains, if they really want to do that, as many buy the sets just for the minifigures.
-
There are some companies selling SW action figures like Hot Toys, Sideshow, Revoltech - it's not only Hasbro. So I wouldn't bet against single LSW figures or blind bags ever be available. Technically, the polybag 3PO being sold at TRU for 3.99 is already that. It is a pretty limited promotion, but if Lego wasn't allowed to sell single LSW figures at all, this wouldn't be happening.

OK as I said before the Carbon Freeze Chamber should have been a set in the size of the Cantina or Final Duel. Like this it's just terrible. The Hoth set is very much like 7749 from 1999 with 2 minifigs less and no Tauntaun. What they didn't forget was to up the price, though. Pass. The BF battle packs look very solid. I didn't expect to see any OT Stormies so I'm not too disappointed. Officer is a great addition but unfortunately 2 jetpack Stormies - one would have been sufficient I guess with room for a sniper / scout. The Rebels look nice. A Rhodian, probably a girl and also what looks like to be Thrawn species head?

Rogue One will have a lot of X-Wings in the movie, they'd be stupid not to release a new classic T-65. If it's from that movie or from the OT doesn't matter. One could say that this was the reason to make the Stealth / black X-Wing and not a grey / blue one - because they would be different enough. And fans have about 10 months time to buy a black X-Wing before a grey one (T-65) comes out. So my guess it that there is a classic one coming out next year, it all makes sense. And just on my account, but if they ask for 100€ for a 700 pieces X-Wing with grey nose, new canopy, ground vehicles and a couple of new techniques and twists we saw now on the black one - I wouldn't hesitate a second. And I'm usually the one complaining about prices but not here. Edit: Oh and I forgot - they will throw in new pilots (built in visor helmets) cause the current rebel pilot minifig is already 3 years old... And that is to convince even the last fan to make the purchase.

Don't get me wrong, I concur with you that we won't see a remade Kylo Ren Shuttle in a long time, unless it'll appear in the next movies as well. The sets you mentioned appeared in the CW cartoon, so not having any media where the vehicles appear, the Gunship from E2 would have had a 11 year waiting span. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember the remades of E1 and E2 were only about to coincide with the 3D movies. So one can only guess how long we would wait for ships/ scenes / minifigs that don't appear in any media. (I believe our both) point being, if you want an obscure vehicle from SW that won't reappear in any media (like the Old Republic sets for example), there is probably no chance this set will ever be remade. On the other hand, if you are into X-Wings and Snowspeeders, those are always available somehow. Having said that, it was still a pretty long wait for sets like the Imperial Shuttle, Star Destroyer or Jabbas Barge (not counting any UCS) being remade. Still no remakes of the Cloud Car, Cloud City (2016 only a small part), TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, Dagobah. I might be forgetting something but the point being - better not wait for something to happen. Get it now, mod it if you want and if there really is a better remake one day, you probably know about it before someone else (who is willing to pay something on Ebay for it) and can just exchange the 2 sets for no additional costs.
