  1. I didn't know either :P Does anyone remember when (or if) we first saw pics of the ewok village before its release? Sorry if this has already come up ive not been on eurobricks for a few months- should we have started to see pics of this ucs hoth by now if it is indeed to come out in October, or are ucs's more secretive up to their release? Even if it isn't to be echo base this 'very big' ucs should have made itself known by now surely in some way? Also is this thread for all lego things 2015 star wars or just what is still to come out in the year? Been looking for a thread for the new TFA sets and noticed this one has been focused on the hoth ucs (not that I'm complaining :) be great if it were an ewok village style set).
  2. Just saw that minas tirith has been declined. I may be sounding naiive here but i am genuinley surprised. with lego seeing lothlorian on its way to 10000 as well as the big rivendell, you'd think lego would get on board with what fans want. Or maybe thats just it; not enough fans. :'( Shame caus it's one of the best works of fiction EVER
  3. Oh yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying :) I suppose there's still the option to moc dwarve soldiers with gimli's helm as it is, better than no iron hill soldiers. Think the problem lies in armoued elf soldiers; could make helm's deep elves with the blue cloaks, i'm thinking barris offee's hood and short cloak from geonosian cannon
  4. Anyone know when new polybags are released? Or (in uk) next newspaper lego giveaways? Like uruk hai with balista a couple years ago, there may be room for an iron hill soldier (Gimli's helm in silver or light grey perhaps?) or rohan soldier/orc re-release. However, i understand that with no new lotr since summer 2013 lotr polybags are far less liekly than hobbit ones. Or maybe we get Bain in 3rd varient :P
  5. Tbh i'd grade what we got A imo; the figures are amazing and the sets have been good considering it's very hard to make enourmous structures into sets sized things and still be enjoyable. It's so much easier to make vehicles as lego sets (most of star wars and chima for example), than rock features like weathertop so id say taking this difficulty into account, lotr/hobbit themes deserve praise concerning whats been released/acheived. Battle of 5 armies set however would be my execption, legolas over elf soldier, 2 more orcs over bolg, bats etc and another ballista (150 odd pieces that couldve been more dale); besides thorin, bard and dain, id grade that one an F. If the theme does indeed end, ill still be very happy with what we have gotten (26 sets for middle earth), love bag end and moria so much :D For me, the themes problem was what wasn't produced, rather than issues with what was made (but there were some odd decisions granted). Id give what we have an A, but yeah, big old F for ball dropping and apparent lack of effort, paticularly towards the end. As for spreading word on blogs, sounds good, might aswell do what we can while orthanc still has a foothold. Makes me happy knowing others out there feel so strongly about keeping this going.

SMC: i cant see anyway to get them other than through lego; i got witch king from my nearest lego store (sheffield) and ordered lonely mountain from lego s@h. There was never much of this wave close to me besides my nearest lego shop and theyve cleared them off the shop now, id say lego online is your best bet im afraid. Id say should we all e-mail lego about the naffness of another bain (dont know about everyone else but i never wanted even one and i cant see kids saying "ooo ooo, gotta get me the son of that way cooler character over elves and dwarf lords and old bilbo"), but don't think that would achieve anything. Lego puts so much time into product development, how on earth could they have thought this would be a good idea. Seriously, if lego designers went on this site and put a post saying, heres the figures we could have in this dvd release, pick your fave, then at least 50 characters/variants would come before bain. A second bain at that!!! If just one person registered on eurobricks was present at that meeting, we'd have something fathoms better; ive seen all the amazing things people here have made without a proffesional workshop and heard all the great ideas for other middle earth sets and figures from the members partaking in this thread, how did whoever was in charge of this think this was a good idea. It truly baffles me. On a lighter note, finished the lonley mounatin today and id highly recomend it to anyone who's unsure about getting it. Awesome set!!!! (I've loved the sets from this theme but being 9/10 sure its done and to end it with a bain variant is an enormous let down. Old bilbo would have ruled!!
  7. Just got back from my nearest lego store; all hobbit botfa gone (even though lonely mountain and attack on lake town still on display). Now all thats left of middle earth set wise is orthanc. tbh it was all a let down; bionicle tucked away in a tiny space, all marvel gone, new dc but not the green lantern one id like. Then all 3 of my nearest toys r us removed last hobbit wave (only one of them has 1 lake town attack, the small dol guldor with beorn and an orc forge oddly) and also they have no new superhero or bionicle. Post -christmas deal lego seems poor near me and it looks as though middle earth is indeed ending. Lets just hope lego makes minas tirith as a swan song for lotr, but judging by their handling of lego middle earth from summer 2013 (cough, bain, useless, cough), minas tirith seems a long shot, but of course no less desired

Ive got the lake town longboat and that old viking set that uses a near identical method to connect the 2 rowboats. When i made that first one i was impressed with how they put the 2 into a long boat. It bugs me sometimes that the mast in both designs completely blocks off the 2 halves, but im sure using a similar method as the current longboats, 2 could be combined side by side to make a wider one, more to the scale of bard's actual one in DOS
  9. It says on brickipedia's 2015 page hobbit and lotr lines are to be discontinued. Is this fact or whoever wrote it's opinion?
  10. That would be great; 2 lotr ideas sets being reviewed at same time would mean lego can in no way deny there's heavy demand for more from this line. Knowing lego and lotr though theyd then make lothlorien with only celeborn as a new fig instead of minas tirith with gondor soldiers, denethor, gothmog etc :P
  11. Sounds pretty good. I think the minas tirith you describe would be more like the $200 range but thats not really an issue so long as we get it as you describe. Take the aragorn/boromir figures away and we could get a $40 balrog set (more moria orcs, perhaps archers would be good), and the gondor army set sounds great. Don't know how desired destruction of the ring is but a Sauron figure would be nice. Id quite like amon hen; say boromir, transparent frodo and at least to uruk hia ($35/$40) add more figures and forest features (lothlorien boats etc) for a more expensive set? There was a rumoured summer 2014 set list that was around last year, when more of us took it for granted a wave 3 was coming and that included amon hen (it also had witch king showdown, minas tirith, mirror of galadriel and osgiliath)
  12. Ive just noticed that too. It's great, hopefully lego will take the hint; lotr/hobbit is still wanted
  13. Its nice to see that out of the 12 'popular this week' projects on lego ideas, 3 are currently middle earth sets. Popularity seems to be growing more and more, and thats promising
  14. I really like all the big minas tirith sets on lego ideas. Im really liking nuju metru's, its made from real lego parts and was the first lotr moc i ever found online and the way the fell best is made is pretty great and I thought it was just awesome (but obviously lots of effort when into all of the big minas tirith entries and i think its great he's not the only one making one; shows how much AFOL's want one). I too am worried about lego using ideas for purely non-exixting themes, but getting minas tirith to 10,000 is the best way to keep letting lego know how loved lotr is
  15. I think lego can go up a pretty good amount in terms of post-production selling, it's just that it may take a few years for it to be really worth a profit. Look at cloud city (10123) thats' sold for many times the retail price on things like ebay and amazon (or at least its listed for those prices dont know if people actually buy such highly priced out of production lego). I think with lotr it may go up in price quite nicely; allthough probably only AFOL's will buy them at higher prices i think the desire for making new creations with them (if there'll be no more lego lotr) should certainly make getting them while they're cheaper worth while. It's also nice to see NujiMetru's Minas Tirith on the staff picks on lego ideas; it's gotten quite a few new votes the past few days :D
