  1. Hello, nice model. It's always more fun when the car looks good and actually drives fast. I have a technical question: where's the antenna of the rc unit? Mine doesn't have more than 1m range without it. My guess is it's a custom one- can you give some details? Nevermind- I've seen in one of the photos that you bent it
  2. Thanks. I now wonder why I didn't put the wheels inside out, because I don't like this side of the rims, probably to fit in the overall width of the truck.
  3. the colour scheme isn't that great, or fast-looking I know, but I have an abundance of red pieces. some black or some white stripes maybe, would have helped. Single wheel in the back- i wanted low traction so it would drift :)
  4. Hi all, I've seen a few days ago a rc truck based on 8041/42041, and I thought I'll post mine too. Same specs as usual, 2 buggy motors and rc unit. Light and fast. So, here's a red one: And some videos:
  5. 8070 was a hell of a set- and until recent it was the basis for most of the car/supercar designs- this one also. ( 8070 is my only complete set). But I don't think we will see another supercar soon- Firstly, 8070 was a complete set- with pf - and cool functions if you ask me, it looked great, with specialized pieces that will allow you to build an large array of models; it had soft axles, and panels; an abundace of red pieces; gearbox, independent suspensions, etc. Improving from that it's very hard- what will the new supercar set have that will set it apart from its precedesor- because the diference between 8448 and 8070 for example is considerable. Secondly, I think it's safer for TLG to design more construction equipment vehicles than road ones for their flagships - after all it's a lot more fun to play with a crane's boom, or a forklift or an excavator's bucket than it is to open a car's hood and doors. I agree with you regarding soft axles supply: nowere to be found; if there are 10 in one place then they are expensive; some of the prices on red 14l and 16l are humongous; more than power puller tires. I had made my goal to amass as much of them as possible, so whenever I have to make an order on bl for a few pieces I need, I choose a small store that also has soft axles at resonabile prices( 3 here; 5 there etc.)- it costs more on shipping than purchasing all my pieces from a single large store at once but I didn't see another way. I am now the proud owner of 40 x red soft axle 19L and counting.
  6. Thanks.I guess I'm a bit of an underestimater.:)
  7. Thanks. It's my second moc- but the first one suffered from a lack of planing ahead. I started building and at some point I realized the model became too heavy for the motors, and had to cut some of the ideas I had, so I don't think of it as a complete work or at least in the way I see de Bac Mono. Here are some photos- just another supercar rc, oh and this one has independent suspensions, the model was bigger: I forgot : this one has also a video :
  8. Wow, thanks so much for all of your comments. And I appologize for not showing any sign until now. I've posted the photos late last night ,and junped to bed. Today I was swamped at work and didn't really had the chance to sit down and post. I really apreciate your feedback, and I hope to answer to all of the anterior posts. If I forget something, feel free to ask. The car was really fun to build, but due to it's "skinny" bodywork , it was also kinda hard- I had to go through a process of building, tearing apart, building, tearing apart etc. that was a bit frustrating. I also wanted to make use more of technic panels and beams than soft axles- as a personal quest. It's not a very nice looking bottom view. I did use the portal gears , as a manual "gearbox" ;in case the model became too heavy for the motors, i could downgrade them to have more torque. Unfortunately it doesn't have suspensions- I really struggled with this one- it was easy to make the rear axle suspended :the rc unit has an articulated joint for the rc motors, designed exactly for this. The real problem was with the front axle, which I couldn't get to look right- the problem is that in the real car, the front side of the bodywork has a sudden drop after the wheel- to give it a nervous/angry look, and it's suspensions are rotated with 90 degrees and stick out of the body. They also use a set of very short springs. When I tried to use the avaible technic springs, it looked really strange and out of line, so I decided to have it all without suspensions- as a general rule. I agree with you all. They do look out of place. The reason I went with the decision not to use soft axles for the rear fenders, was a personal one- I wanted to see if I can build them without using them- I decided it should be a learning part in the building process, so that I could learn something new for the future projects- making fenders without using soft axles . I haven't decided if I will go back on the design- it depends on how much time I will have in the near future. You are right- a black/white or at least black/red color schme would've been nice , that's also why the original car has the 2 colors paint scheme- to make it more agresive, as if it wasn't fast enough. I was afraid the top part , the pear-shaped, violin looking body would look too flmisy, due to my lack of pieces/experience. So i went ahead, pointing it's "curves" even though it has more angles than most cars, with red lines that will make it look like the original.
  9. Hi guys, this is my first MoC here- a technic model of BAC MONO. I built the model around the RC sistem and due to the small form of it's original body , it didn't left out much space for any other technic functions, so it was more a shape-oriented build, rather then a technical one. It's size is 25x52 studs. I wanted to make a movie but it started a rainy period.Hope to get a chance soon.
