Corvette3 replied to DrJB's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingTechnic is about vehicles primarily is it not? and i doubt there are very few real ones that don't have wheels or treads, although more technic boats might be cool.

Corvette3 replied to Richter's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingTwo might work better, but im not sure what other gear ratios you need, the ball gears only produce a 1:1 ratio have you got a pic of your models drivetrain?

[HELP] Broken Part
Corvette3 replied to Auranapse's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIf you are careful, you might be able to superglue the pin back on, superglue has a somewhat low tolerance for torque though, i have also tried Araldite on a split gear, and that works great.

General Part Discussion
Corvette3 replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat seems correct to me, though i tend to mod other toys (like Nerf guns) it seems like we should not with Lego, anyone else feel this way?

[HELP] Cleaning Completed Models with PF
Corvette3 replied to Corvette3's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNah it was dry dirt and dust mostly, i have managed to clean it up pretty good now but a few of the moving panels are a bit stiff so it could use a bit more, but i'm happy with it for now.

Corvette3 replied to tripletschiee's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMan that looks like fun, should i get one? is it fun to build? i keep getting mixed messages from the people on this and other forums, but you all seem to like them and it might be the final push i need to purchase my own, especially now that they are getting hard to get.

[HELP] Cleaning Completed Models with PF
Corvette3 replied to Corvette3's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe PF is fairly heavily integrated (i think) but i i guess its not too dirty, ill try wiping all the dust off with a cloth i guess, i wish i was more careful around those stairs on the patio, it went out of IR range (or maybe the sun interfered) and before i could do anything it tumbled right to the bottom.

[HELP] Cleaning Completed Models with PF
So my 42030 just took a nasty fall down some stairs into a pile of dirt, as far as i can tell nothing is broken just a few connections gave way and it still drives, but it is very dirty now, anyone got tips for cleaning it? preferably without dismantling it too much as it took me 14 hours to build and i don't have a lot of time to get it looking nice again. Here is some post carnage if anyone is curious(lo-res though)

Corvette3 replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWOW 8421s are $350 - $500 here... that's more than the replacement! even if the rare parts can be sold back, i can barely afford it to begin with! ill have to see if anything is going cheap i guess...

Technic General Discussion
Corvette3 replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIs it worth trying to get some buggy motors? They really aren't cheap but i hear they are quite powerful, i would mostly be using them with PF parts though, AA/AAA battery holders IRs Etc, should i try to get an RC unit too?

Technic General Discussion
Corvette3 replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell IR receivers and servo motors are very expensive :0 and i don't really want to break those, if only you could get more normal Rechargeable batteries 1.5/3 volts for example, buying alkalines constantly is not much fun after all, has anyone posted actual tests of problems that over-volting could cause?

Technic General Discussion
Corvette3 replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHi there, i'm pretty new to Technic, i only have a 42022 and a 42030 and i had a question about options for batteries, here goes: i have some 3.7 volt AA Lithium-ion batteries that i use in one of my other hobbies and i'm wondering if it is safe to use them in the AA battery box? I would be using 3 and 3 dummies so about 11.1 volts total, I could probably use 2 for 7.4 volts if i had to, but is it safe to use the 3?

Technic 2015 Discussion and Speculation
Corvette3 replied to ghostmind's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI suppose your right, it just seemed you were all Judging books by their covers(one of my hates) i apologize, i might have been a little harsh. Honestly though i actually like the looks of it, and 42039, so i guess i just got a bit offended.
