  1. I'm really enjoying these early 17th century musketeer style mini-figures
  2. I think the weapon you are asking about is the BrickArms Rapier. I just got a few after seeing it used by one of Captain Braunsfeld's minifigures in the 2015 LEGO Pirates rumor thread. Link: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91306&st=975#entry2103187
  3. I think you are right about the front being lower to cover more of the chain mail. However, your work is awesome as is.
  4. All sound good. Looking around at designs, I think I will need a lot of dark bley (and or red/brown) plates to break up the black. I should have enough black pieces, except perhaps for the bow. Tumblehome is a must. It looks like there are a lot of ways to accomplish it, I'll have to see what I can pull from bins. Where should the inverted slopes go? I can't really think of a way to make them look nice. Is there a MOC that does what you say that includes closeups or LDD files? The stern in the last version was not really complete. I had hoped to extend the ship another two hull pieces and build a two story aft castle, so I did not spend much time on the end but you are spot on regarding what should be done. If anyone else has some advice, I'm all ears!

I also really like the captain's cabin. The kitchen is also really nicely done.

You can always build your guns out of bricks.
  7. I wonder what exactly your setup is like. If you do not feel like it would be intrusive, could you post a picture of your "pad printing machine" or say more about it? Whatever the setup is, you are doing great work with it.

I don't think you should feel any pressure to have a larger fleet. It is a good fleet as is, and the iterations are a good way to refine and improve it. I don't have a single complete ship and do not have room to keep a fleet any larger than yours, and your progress is inspiration to me. One of the reasons I asked to see the earlier iterations was to see how things changed and get ideas for simpler techniques or techniques that had different constraints. The last LEGO sets I played with prior to coming back There is a BirckFair New England in Manchester in May but I don't much about it.
  9. Since everyone seems to be stating their opinion on the bandanna, based on the pictures I think the new one looks fine except from ahead. I found the old bandanna perfectly fine, but am not opposed to replacing it. As far as the old monkeys go, I love them but they are a bit large. I'm a bit confused as for the lack of U.S. release information, but I don't really know how TLG operates.
  10. I like how there is enough room to set up a gun crew. Also it is amazing the detail and scale in general.
  11. I plan on putting together a unit of 10 soldiers with the black torso with breastplate, sort of a Dearth's Head Hussar and Cuirassier hybrids. From my bins: I have 10 blue coats, 8 red coats, and a admiral/governor for each, a daughter for each governor/admiral, and a few Union soldiers from the Old West. I don't know how many more are in there.
  12. Here are the figures that I have currently put together. I just got some new heads today, so there are more than when I posted the pirate army in the army thread, also close up pictures. Jack Sparrow and the Cook are just PotC figures As is Barbossa Who appears twice. Blackbeard and Scrum are also just PotC figures.
  13. I have to go with blue as well. When I was a kid they did have command of the BSB.
  14. Hmm... a lot of what I already have to print has a lot of white in it, with foofy cravats/jabots or just the shirts. I think if the extend the color of the torso around the image that should make it easier to cut out and have no white around the edged, that makes sense, right?
  15. Where are the videos? I don't see them at the sight just the map, the products, characters, games, and downloads. Edit: Thanks Robert8, I found it now.
  16. Thanks for the info, sound like what I didn't think to ask was the finish of the paper. I'll have to remember glossy. Also I just spaced out torso and it looks like I can fit 85 double sided torso on a single sheet of paper!
  17. I would be really into people doing backs for the classic Captain Redbeard torso and its color variations (found in the Pirate Torso Database), as well as fleshy version of the female pirate torsos with backs, and/or color variations on the LEGO Pirate of thee Caribbean Torsos (particularly Barbossa, Blackbeard, Norrington, Phillip Swift, and Scrum). Any part of this would be good, I am just looking for more variation in pirate torsos. Thanks a million to anyone who does any of this!
  18. Could you update this when you see how your items order from Poppunkmunky work out. If the price you quote is accurate, and they are as good as they say they are, I think that a lot of people (such as the not so dexterous me) would be interested in getting work done by them.
  19. Hi! I don't have a printer (I am a student and have access to b&w printers at school for most needs) and was wondering if anyone has tried to have decals printed on sticker paper at a local print shop. I asked my local shop and they said they can print on sticker paper or a transparent medium (forgot to ask if the sticker paper was transparent), and they said that they could print full color from files delivered via email or physical media for about $3 or $4 dollars a page (which seems very reasonable given the cost and storage space needed for a printer, paper, and ink). My questions are what needs to be explicitly stated for best results, what should I ask to clarify, what needs to be avoid, what needs to be done... Thanks Edit: Just realized that the end of the title got cut off. If anyone is wondering it should end in Copy Shop/Center
  20. I am a huge tea enthusiast, Shi Feng Long Jing is my favorite. Though last year I got a really I quality teapot for Da Fo Long Jing and it made it much better. I also like Mei Jia Wu Long Jing, and have visited Mei Jia Wu. I have had a huge verity of the top of the line Long Jing teas from reputable merchants (within price constraints...) and must say that if you drink it regularly and mindfully you can really taste the difference even with the same cultivar. I also like teas other than this one specific verity from a small region near Hangzhou. Also I make Japanese style-esque ceramics at a Japanese Art Studio and Tea House; play table top and board games; am a bit a sartorialist; love a good beer/spirit; collect books; and until I gave them all away had a huge DVD collection. I also like monkeys, but as a frequent poster in the Pirates sub-forum I think that goes without saying.
  21. One of the headless bodies lifts his hat, and behold it was just weighed down over his head by the water. A good shake and its as good as new! Who is leading these "headless" men? It is Fancy Jack, with his always perfectly tied, perfectly white cravat. And they came in boats and canoes not from the deep. Their approach was hidden by the glare of the sun on the water until they got into the shallows and continued on foot. They here there is plenty of rum, and with more men and more boats, maybe the pirates can take a ship? Edit: @Phred: I have a WIP galleon (Wolf of the Sea) in another thread that is going to be their home once I get it to my liking but I am not the most skilled ship builder and need a lot more gray bricks to build it (I started with much in black but it is a bit too dark). Also I spent this and next months LEGO funds on mini-figure parts and accessories, as I need to tweak the design of the ship a bit/lot. Wow. It is really interesting to see the changes in your technique, and how the earlier iterations looked. Do you have more pictures of the first and/or second iteration?
  23. One way to do it is to make an items wanted list. On the list you can put a minimum quantity for each part on the list and then look to see stores that have the most items meeting list criteria (either by lot, unique lots, or total parts)

From what I understand about the problem, if it is the same as the one I had, it is due to an ad. The ads are different for different people, different parts of the website, and different at different times. This means that it is often hard to sort out the problem. There are also type of malicious software, viruses, and similar stuff that can do similar things (though these tend to be more wide reaching). For what it is worth, If I remember correctly the place I was redirected to was an anti-aging creme so I think this is just the ad I mentioned above.
  25. Where did you get that rapier? It is much better than the more foil-esque LEGO rapier. Edit: This NEW vs OLD debate makes me think of the 3rd vs 4th debate for D&D.
