  1. I'm in the "not buying but very impressed" category. Scooby-Doo isn't really my thing anymore, but these sets look really good. That mansion especially is fantastic, especially with the decaying roof/greenhouse on one side. Nice job, Lego! EDIT: Aaaaaand I just noticed all of the stickers on the Mystery Machine. Yikes.
  2. Oooh, pretty pictures! Iron Man vs Ultron Legion or whatever it's called, nifty little army builder set, that's about it for me. Not a bad set. I'm not too sold on them taking their legs apart to combine with the flier. Hawkeye vs Hydra looks like a decent set. Hawkeye looks pretty good and the new Thor is appreciated, but the two vehicles feel kind of flimsy and lightweight, especially compared to the 4x4 Hawkeye originally came with. I like the little "Tesseract" cannon on top of the Hydra vehicle. Hulkbuster's looking better and better, I was already going to get it even though the revealed pictures looked pretty bland, but it looks a lot better in the more "frank" shots. Did anyone else catch the transparent blue skeleton army arms to hold the helmet on? I bet that's there to mimic the assembly sequence without the whole thing having to come apart, but with all the joints and hinged parts you could probably play out your own little assembly sequence. I'm definitely okay with Lego streamlining the bigfig body, since it means we can get bigfigs more easily, and the pants feel a little weird but whatever. Scarlet Witch isn't a bad figure, just a little off. I wish Lego would figure out how to print skin so it doesn't look so dark on non-skin colored pieces. But still the one I'm most eagerly looking forward to getting (and modifying ). I wonder how much it opens up: probably just the helmet. The Quinjet looks REALLY nice. It's obviously related to the original but very different, and I like the color scheme a lot. I hope there's at least a little interior space, but that's not a no-sell clause for me and it's easily modified to give it an interior. I'm suspecting that anything that's a generic Avengers piece of equipment in the movie as opposed to a specialized uniform or weapon will be dark blue and white, since both the Quinjet and the two Iron Legion suits in the Avengers tower come in those colors. Is Cap's motorcycle's shell a new piece? I don't remember seeing it anywhere else, but I admittedly don't follow the city sets much so it could be a reuse of a racing shell. Most of the mini figures look pretty good, lots of details. Black Widow's hair… um… yeah, I mean, it's more accurate to the movie, but at the same time, it's REALLY dorky looking. And I'm gonna replace those two guns with a pair of the machine pistols. The little truck is a nice addition, but it doesn't seem to come with a driver, unless it's Ultron doing the driving… Oddly enough, I find myself liking Avengers Tower a bit more now. Sure, it's just a playset, but it doesn't look too horrible, and it has those nice Iron Legion armors (oh, that beautiful navy blue). It's not a bad set at all, just not a day one purchase for me. I'm trying to figure out what that little transparent white jewel next to the antenna on top of the building is made out of. I don't recognize it. I might strip out the interior and put the micro Quinjet from the Helicarrier on that landing deck, have my own little Avengers tower to loom over my other sets. And steal the arms from one of the Thors (between this and the smaller Hydra set) to give to the other Thor. ;) And still no nice pictures of the Hydra base, so no real thoughts on that one yet, but from what I've seen it's the one I'm looking forward to least. Overall, it's a nice line and I'm looking forward to all of them, only three are must-buys (Hulkbuster, Quinjet, and Iron Man vs Ultron), but I am planning to get them all because I might be addicted to the MCU. Some of the extra bits feel a little cheap, like the Hulk cage or the Shield Jeep. Lots of really nice printings, but a few areas that feel like corner cutting because of how many sets and characters they had to make. Gee I wonder if Iron Man is the star of the MCU, since he appears in four out of the six sets, and gets one set all to himself? Also, I'm wondering if at least one of the Ultrons could have used the robot legs that Darth Maul used in that one The Clone Wars set, to give him a bit extra height and inhumanness, but maybe Marvel nixed that idea.
  3. It also might just be the set description is slightly different from what actually happens in the movie to avoid spoilers.
  4. If that IS the Jokerland Batmobile, that is a nice machine. It looks a lot better than the most recent one (I can't remember what set it was, but it was in Lego Batman 3 and it wasn't a good-looking one). It doesn't make Jokerland a must-buy for me, but it's a nice bat mobile.
  5. I think it's a reference to the "muh waifu" (pronounced why-foo) meme related to female anime characters, and male fans attraction/obsession with them. Weird little portmanteau with "minifig".
  6. That would (most likely) be the villain Darren Cross/Yellowjacket and (probably) the mentor/inventor of the Ant-Man suit Henry Pym. Question for UK fans: how much are the Captain America vs. Hydra and Green Lantern vs. Sinestro sets in the UK? The sets are $20 here, and each one has three figures and one vehicle, plus a smaller prop (Sinestro's cage thingy and Cap's motorcycle). If they're £20 in the UK like the Ant-Man set, then these three sets are in the same price/figure range and fits what The Kid's told us: a hero, a "vehicle" (a car? a giant ant for him to ride on?), and two other characters who are either both villains or one hero and one villain. And yet still brick built? Interesting. Did it seem to have a Groot-like piece, like a big core piece that has nice details and stuff like that with the rest built out with more standard pieces?
  7. No interest in the Jokerland set, but the Batboat Harbor Pursuit might be worth a pickup if Deathstroke is decent. I could display him next to my Deadpool figure. XD
  8. I have to admit, as terrible as ASM2 was, I did like that Rhino suit… but then again, I have a thing for tech suits and powered armor. So, a brick built suit that Rhino sits in works fine for me. I mean, I'll probably rebuild it into an Iron Man armor, but hey, swings and roundabouts and all that. I'm not a Spider-Man fan, but I might pick the set up for that very reason. Plus the Iron Spidey set might be cool. Shame we've heard no more info about the AoU sets, but it's good to hear that the Hulkbuster looks better in person. Surprising that the Ant-Man set is so cheap, though. I guess that nixes the idea of us getting a lot of figures. My sister will love the space sets, I may have to get her one of those.
  9. Well, it's been all but confirmed that we're getting one, so we don't need to talk about wanting one. :p
  10. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, actually. It's a cooler feature than the little drone the original had, but I hope there's still some room inside it for at least a figure or two. It looks like there may be.
  11. Wait, what? If there's knockoff Kamen Rider stuff… dammit, I might have to actually get that. >.>
  12. Both me and my siblings enjoy Legos, but I'm the only one who really "collects." My little sister and her boyfriend both love Star Wars so I get them those a lot as gifts, and my little brother finds them kinda fun, but he actually sculpts and stuff so he does lots of his own creative stuff on the side.
  13. Just watched the trailer myself. Not sure what I'm thinking either… I think I'd be more on board with it if they played it more like heist movie in the trailer only to reveal part-way through they were using the Ant-Man suit instead of some other movie gadget, or if at the very least they had the main dude not do that sort of high-pitched "huh." Or the ants, the giant flying helicopter ants are bugging me a little bit. But I'm DEFINITELY loving the Ant-Man suit. Like, seriously, wow, that looks like such a fun prop/costume. But ya know what? I'm willing to give Marvel a chance with this. :) Let's see what they do. Hey, maybe the Ant-Man set will have a giant brick-built flying ant for him to ride? That'd be kind of fun, I'll admit. PS: Also, having read up a bit on the backstory, I'm getting a bit of a Batman Beyond vibe to this movie. Older retired superhero offers his technologically advanced suit that was created decades ago to a snarky jackass with a dirty past and a good heart and is seeking redemption?
  14. They might have done that. I remember them doing something kind of similar for the Firefly sets (the TV show, not the Batman villain), and preemptively talking with legal about it because they knew the sets would be popular enough to get fully supported. Or something like that.
  15. I like the Iron Legion suit a lot. Especially that lovely dark blue helmet. Wish it didn't have the Avengers striping on it, though: it'd be easier to use it as a basic Iron Man suit. The slight printing on the head is… interesting, to say the least. Not quite sure WHY they're doing that, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. The Mark 43 is pretty close to the Mark 42, but since it's basically a recolored (and hopefully more reliable) Mark 42, that's to be expected. Given how different/bulkier the chest plate for the other Iron Man suit looks, now I'm really curious as to what Tony's going to pull out for the Mark 45 in the movie. I'm really liking how many different drones and Ultrons we're getting. It's gonna make for a fun display piece. XD
  16. MrManiac replied to misupix's post in a topic in LEGO Licensed
Ooh, very nice job. My little brother actually commented on the model just yesterday about how it didn't look much like an actual Delorean, and I think I may have to borrow a few of your elements for a touch up.
  17. According to Bricklink, the trans-blue three stud rod has only been used in two sets, and those were from the collectible mini figures line. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=87994&in=S So, good luck finding those now. Myself, I was wondering if the blue-grey 3L might work better for Widow's clubs, but looking at the released art I guess that the trans-blue would look better. Though it's worth noting that we still don't know if Lego's already including the rods for her in the set, since all we've seen of it has her in the cockpit. We'll probably know more soon, though.
  18. No, no worries, I like the fig too, just not sure about the helmet. And slightly wondering why we didn't get a blue one with an A for Cap, since it does look a bit like his helmet from the movies. Ooh, actually, that helmet would work pretty well for the little purist STRIKE Captain America I've been slowly working on. PS: I can't remember, is there a factory in Mexico, or a distribution center?
  19. Yeah, that fig looks great, but the helmet… eeeeeeeeeeeeh… *wiggles hands* it doesn't look good, certainly. I'll need to see how it looks in my hand before I render final judgement. Maybe the person displaying it doesn't have the head the right way around or something. Or the helmet is to hide a dual-face printing to show when Ultron has taken over a drone?
  20. Interesting idea. While I'm not so sure about your logic, I wouldn't mind a new ARC-170. I've always liked that design, and for some reason never picked it up in the past. Like, I FINALLY bought my first Lego X-Wing with the last set release.
  21. Wow. That's just terrible. You know, I have only thrown out lego bricks that are completely and irrevocably broken in some way, but I think these super jumpers will just go straight into the trash when I get some. Honestly, Lego, how did that not come up in testing?
  22. Welcome aboard, Admiral.
  23. I actually wasn't planning to pick up this set until I saw your review here. You're right, Gali is just fantastic. Probably the best looking of the ones I have so far, especially with her big honking battle-ax.
  24. Bought the Skyhopper because I thought it was a little nifty and I liked the pilot, and before that one of my best friends bought me the Snowspeeder because he thought it was really cool and wanted me to have it.
  25. Nice review, and I agree with most of your points. This is a very swooshable set with some good characters and play value. Definitely the number 2 set of the GotG-theme, after the Milano.
