  1. That's a really awesome little unit D3K, but from the looks of it it could improved upon by replacing the u joints with cv joints and moving the pivot points a stud closer to the wheels. That would reduce the amount of force needed to steer.
  2. omg, that does not look like Lego. It doesn't even look like a scale model. It actually looks exactly like the real thing. Amazing. Just simply lost for words.
  3. Looking nice :) Also, fantastic photography.
  4. I love the s2000! Good luck with the build :) I'll be following closely :p
  5. 42009. I saw an article on Oppositelock/Jalopnik about the 8110 Unimog which sparked my interest in Lego again. The article was posted only recently, and by then the 8110 was already sold out. I was going through the TLC website and that's when I stumbled upon the beauty that is the 42009.
  6. Is $250 a good deal on a NISB Unimog?
  7. ^I love the jib attachment. I understand why you went for form over function, after all Lego is about design. if you could make the telescopic boom operate with just a single input that would be awesome
  8. This amazing 8x8 dump truck by Pipasseyoyo. Hands down the best Lego dump truck I've seen. Even the dump bed itself is a work of art. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=548971
  9. That sounds amazing... When you start building make sure to make a thread so I can follow. I too would like to build a truck based on Unimog tires.
  10. When you're trying pack this many functions driven by a single motor in a model thats of this scale, you're gonna have to make a few sacrifices
  11. Wow, two of em? Wish I had that kind of money. I just ordered a NISB Unimog on bricklink for $250... think that's a good price? anyway I'm really excited Finally more than just one set to build MOCs with.
  12. Wow, that crane looks phenomenal, do you have a build thread or more pictures? Impressive truck either way , just wow. And ahh, I see. The truck I'm trying to make doesn't have swiveling stabilizers. It has regular telescopic outriggers mounted over each other at an angle. :) that's why it was such a pain in the a$s to make the whole thing. This is what I'm trying to make btw- http://www.ditzj.de/html/en/trucks/man/28540juhl.html
  13. Ahaha, I'm in the same boat. Although I do have 250$ saved up right now but I really want an 8110... Meh, i'll probably just end up getting both.
  14. Thanks guys! The cab has gone though some major changes... I think it looks much better now. Ahh, sorry to dissapoint you, but they aren't descend working I toyed with that idea initially but the whole system would take up too much space and too many pieces.. both of which I don't have. It'd still be possible to mount a system on top of the stabilizers with sliding long axles and frictionless gears a la 42009 but it would be needlessly complex for such a small feature (IMO). Anyway, it's a rather crude system tbh, I had to make the space between the outrigger housing and the unit that drives the gears quite large to eliminate friction and avoid awkward axle angles. But it does work smoothly. Hope this helps :) anyways, hope you enjoy these rather horribly taked WIP pictures With mockup of the crane -
  15. Not to be a d*ck, but I respectfully disagree. IMO this just looks plain messy. They could've gone with a V6 or find out a way to pack all of that engine under the cab.. anyhow, this is such a minor detail, it doesn't change the fact that this is going to be an awesome set.
