  1. On the fence is how I feel too. If other themes can justify including an exclusive minifig with the microbuild (and I’m going to hazard a guess that Diagon Alley and Avengers Tower were hugely successful promotions for TLG) then I don’t see why SW doesn’t get the same love? As it stands I’ll probably wait until I can get the Tantive IV on deep discount once it shows up in other retail channels. If TLG are truly listening to AFOLs as their press release this week states, then I suspect they suffer selective hearing loss when it comes to Star Wars, based on the number of people I see here and on other forums pleading for the return of the May the fourth minifig.
  2. Huh. I never knew this was an issue. I purchased the original Jabba’s Sail Barge second hand and it was fine.
  3. I just got the email from Lego for the May 4th promotion. The Hoth micro build GWP has a min. spend of $199 AUD...that’s getting up there. I guess they REALLY want us to purchase the Tantive IV.
  4. It’s a pity we still miss out on the Vader bust but this is great news moving forward. Its also good to see they are listening to AFOLs! https://www.brothers-brick.com/2019/04/24/lego-will-make-regional-exclusive-sets-available-worldwide-starting-next-month-news/amp/
  5. Yeah. Porg with a Santa hat It keeps getting lazier. I’m kinda wishing they included a Dec 25th minifig and made it roast Porg.
  6. You did a really good job on the review! I appreciate you doing an English version and I look forward to seeing more.
  7. The lack of an exclusive minifig is disappointing but not unexpected. What I find more disappointing is the AT-AT looks ‘pregnant’ for want of a better term. The curved slopes on the torso seems inexplicable. And the two snowspeeders are shaped more like colonial vipers from Battlestar Gallactica.
  8. And yet the 2009 version was printed. Has the printing process on curves really got more expensive? Maybe. I get that it could potentially cost more but for all the improvements over the previous version the stickered cockpit seems like a step backwards.
  9. Cockpit stickers are the bane of Lego. It’s such a focal point and usually curved and/or clear. Has anyone actually asked TLG why printed pieces in inexpensive sets like Brickheadz make financial sense but are lacking in expensive sets?
  10. The free Lego Make & Take Tantive IV to celebrate May 4th weekend includes a stand for display but the 1700+ piece, $200 USD one doesn’t. Go figure...
  11. The article specifically mentions a small AT-AT, snowspeeder and shield generator but does not indicate a minifig is included. I will reserve judgment until we see pics, it could go either way. I’m quietly hoping it’s enough for me to pull the trigger on the Tantive IV though.
  12. There is no way brickling the new Tantive IV would be economical, even without the specialised pieces and minifigs. Shipping from multiple stores adds up quickly, especially if you’re not located in continental US. As for Darth Vader’s castle it does have a lot of large pieces and, after building it, I don’t regret paying $200 for it. Naturally, I would have preferred to get it cheaper.
  13. To paraphrase those saying “what do you expect for a non-UCS set?” I’m not buying the argument. Firstly, fans were expecting a UCS Tantive IV. Yes, they were only rumours but May 4th releases have traditionally been UCS sets and as Lego should know SW fans love tradition! And for anyone saying it’s the best of both worlds as it’s essentially a UCS and an MBS set, just without the labels, then they are deluding themselves. It lacks the accurate detail of a UCS set, just look at the size of that bulbous cockpit. And those cockpit stickers, what a step backwards from the previous non-UCS Tantive IV. If you view it purely as a playset, it has less interior room than the previous version. Does it have the large number of minifigs that would normally justify an MBS price tag? ...no. But it has Bail Organa and a new skirt piece for Leia. And it absolutely is in UCS/MBS price territory; it costs $330 in Australia, the UCS Slave-1, Tie Fighter, etc were $299. And has anyone else noticed the box art is very UCS/MBS all black premium like and there is a huge blank space along the top strip that would accommodate such a label. Curious.
  14. But it is neither of those, not by a long way. Hence no label. This was TLGs offical release last year to clarify the distinction...”The Master Builder Series models are large playsets and beside being complex builds they are characterized by having many play features and functions, interior details as well as a range of minifigures. Ultimate Collectors series will remain highly detailed display models providing complex builds with a focus on authenticity and both Ultimate Collectors Series and Master Builder Series will continue as a way to highlight the unique characteristic of each style of model.”
  15. I suspect this is very close to the truth. All the completionists be like
  16. It’s been uncharacteristicly quiet, even on a potential May the 4th promo polybag. I wouldn’t mind if Zuckuss didn’t stay exclusive to the 20th Anniversary Slave-1 if it means we get great new sets from The Mandalorian. Plus, the Slave-1 is a awesome set in its own right.
  17. SW Celebration this week seems a likely reveal. If not, then I would truely believe the current online chatter about Lego losing touch with AFOLs.
  18. Never tell me the odds. They may hold back the reveal till Star Wars celebration in a couple of weeks. I’m actually impressed there have been no leaked images!
  19. Is it confirmed the Dropship is a Toyworld exclusive? Or it just hasn’t shipped to other retailers yet? It would seem an odd choice for an exclusive.
  20. Some of the local online e-tailers have them for 20% off already. I’ll wait till the bricks & mortar stores have them at 30+% off.
  21. Probably not. Only Comic Con and Target US red card exclusive at this stage.
  22. True. But, that 20th anniversary box art is gorgeous
  23. Nice generalisation. Are you forgetting that everyone outside of the US aren’t able to get one? If it’s anything like the Red card exclusive Lego movie 2 Brickheadz then it will be limited in number regardless.
  24. Allegedly 150K USD, but not confirmed.
  25. This should be of great interest here. The rarest collection of Star Wars minifigs just appeared on Instagram. The rumoured price the Boba Fett’s sold for privately is eye watering. Incredible to see these all in one photo.
