Graflex is the name of a hand-held flash photography unit, the main handle of which was used to create the first Lightsabers. Hear - hear! That runs right alongside those people that complain that TLG don't build enough of the models that "they" want to see, thinking that TLG should cater first for AFOLs. Sadly, that sense of entitlement is, indeed, jaw droppingly incomrehensible at times. [sorry to go off topic] News I'm most looking forward to for 2016 is the new UCS set(s). Also a big fan of the Constraction figures - a couple of decent looking sets coming out in January (I know it's covered in a different thread, but it's still SW Lego, regardless).

Just as a by-the-by. I'm about to return from a couple of weeks working in the UAE. Saw very little Lego while I've been here. No TFA sets at all, and those sets that I did see cost very nearly TWICE what they cost in the UK! I ordered four battle figures before I flew out and will be making Vader and Cody with my sons on Saturday (they both loved Greivous, which we built two weeks ago, and thought Obi Wan was pretty cool too). The 6 year old want's his own Vader Battle Figure for Xmas (he's not having mine!). I also bought the First Order TIE Fighter. Looking forward to building and displaying that alongside another TIE (9492).

Update to my earlier message. Tesco, for some reason, didn't list the new sets under the SW Lego page, but if you "search" for Star Wars Lego on Tesco Direct they magically appear . . . and they are included in the Clubcard Boost promotion! So if you have clubcard vouchers you can double these up (£5 + £10) to by new Lego TFA sets. Suddenly, picking up the MF for £65 of vouchers doesn't seem so bad, and Grevious only costs £15 in vouchers. ;-) . . . Just burned up my last clubcard vouchers. Last four figures plus the First Order TIE ordered and will be ready for collection Monday. :-)

FYI, for UK buyers. Cheapest prices I've found are at ASDA online. Tesco's still not listing any new sets despite having a new TFA Lego banner on the "Lego & Construction Toys" front page on Tesco Direct. I posted this info on the SW thread yesterday morning but forgot to post it here as well. Sorry if you've already bought your sets from other outlets. ASDA are £10 cheaper for the MF and £2-£3 cheaper on some constraction sets. I picked up Grevious and Obi Wan from MK Lego Store yesterday afternoon (and got another free Admiral Yulan). I'm waiting ot see if the constraction sets getlisted on Tesco Direct and whether they are in the Clubcard Boost deal (£5 clubcard vouchers = £10 to spend on selected items) as almost all their SW Lego sets are already in this deal at the moment.

After a quick look at UK online stores (which took ages to update - most not completing their updates until after 7am), everyone is following the TLG pricing format (i.e. TOO HIGH) . . . except for ASDA (owned in the UK by Walmart). ASDA TFA MF is £120 instead of £130 (in round figures), and all other sets are pennies to a couple of pounds cheaper than everywhere else. The only online store not to post new sets yet is Tesco (Sainsbury's online toy store is rubbish - only 2 SW sets listed). Snowspeeder is < £37 in ASDA.

Dammit . . . I was going to say that. Poe going for a Tony Stark moment. And wilson3a10 . . . it's not fair to post pictures of 'on-shelf' items and then not say where the heck you got it (Springfield Target, PA USA, BTW)! When I find stuff in the UK I post the address of the shop so that local members can go see.

Gjallarhorns . . . you crack me up. I had you pinned from the start and you reacted pretty much as I predicted to a few friends. It's nice that you enjoy "picking on people" from the safety of your keyboard. If you understood even half of what I said you'd realise that I hardly ever take myself seriously, and certainly don't take people like you seriously. As I said, you crack me up. Back on theme though it's great to see the images of the new sets. Hard to say which, if any, I'll be buying just yet, apart from the constraction figures. Tie Fighter most likely, and maybe the MF. I may wait and see what next year's UCS sets are first. I fall into the camp that I like to see accurate representations of things, but I'm just not as vocal or openly critical about it because I'm enough of an adult to know that these sets haven't been exclusively designed for my personal pleasure.

Much as I can see the appeal of a Bespin Cloud City, or Jedi Temple, I can't see it happening for the key reason Darth Punk offers. Limited playability on feature rooms. In Cloud City you have the dining room (Darth, Boba, Han, Chewie, Lando, Leia), the dungeon (broken C3PO and R2), carbon freezing chamber (Uggnauts), . . . um . . . torture chamber? Okay . . . Jedi Temple. Jedi Council chamber. Jedi Library. Star room. Training room where Anakin slaughtered the young . . . Lots of randomly placed 1x1 red tiles? No, I think we're going to get a new Millennium Falcon (possibly this EURO500 set that's been mentioned, which I think was around the price point of the original UCS Falcon). I'm not sure it will be another Death Star, at least, not just yet (if ever). I like the idea of a UCS Jedi Interceptor, at the £170 mark probably. But I agree with the point that there are really two tiers of collectors. People like myself who prefer (but are not limited to) UCS sets, and those who's budget, or preference, or skill level, or age, means they prefer the cheaper, smaller (swooshable) sets. Whatever it is I'm sure that TLG will have done their homework and pitch something that will sell.

Firstly, great job of ignoring my post. . . Secondly, how do you defend saying "This whole idea seems irrelevant..." and don't think that is disrespectful to constraction figure fans? I don't have a problem with whether you are interested in the genre or not, but what surprises me is that people who claim disinterest are happy to spend time trashing the theme/topic/whatever rather than simply ignoring it, like those people who bang on about disliking PT sets and only buy OT set and think that somehow they are the purists. This is a Lego discussion forum, in all its themes and genres. I'm being accused of being a meanie because I point out that when someone trashes a release by TLG they clearly don't know what they are talking about because they almost certainly dont run the most successful toy business in the world. I am all for intelligent debate and discussion and hearing other people's opinions. And from time to time I will call people on their statements, particularly when they fly in the face of evidence (like huge sales) or when they are dismissive of something that is hugely successful. Time will tell how "irrelevant" the SW constraction figures are. Also, don't take people so seriously. If I was mad at someone I would let them know with the appropriate emoticon . . . . . . I don't know if you've been lurking for months and only just joined as a full member, but our little 'discussion' about constraction figures is so "on topic" compared to some of the discussions that have taken place here. I suggest you do your homework before accusing people of being childish. Also, I wasn't offering an "opinion" but simply presenting facts and observations based on evidence and trends. You would do well to bear that in mind before trashing someone. And if you think this is heated ("take a chill pill"?), you really haven't been on here long at all. My advice is to do your homework and come back when you have attained some measure of understanding of what has transpired before. "Ironically", in saying nobody gives a flying squirrel about MY opinions - and in doing so speak on behalf of the entire Eurobricks community - you immediately aligned yourself with the people I was referencing in my post. . . That's irony!

MarkW Are you aware of these constraction set being released in the UK anywhere? I just called my local store (Bedford) and they say they aren't releasing anything until Sept. I've only seen mention of them being released in French stores so far.
