I take back everything I said about the old site. :(
  2. I too am underwhelmed when looking at pictures of the performance school set. It reminds me of the Mega Bloks valley high set I reviewed a while back, in its sparseness. The front of the building screams for some decoration along the side and near the ground. The interior is also sparse, similar to the 'Bloks set. Seeing this set gives me more appreciation for the older Heartlake High set. That said I imagine that LEGO intentionally is trying different design approaches. I could see this one as not being so sophisticated in order to encourage the builder to improvise and improve it. It can also put less of a difference between the sophistication of the set design and what a builder is capable of, making them feel more capable rather than being in awe of LEGO's designers. In this regard I hope LEGO continues to try things like this, because it's important for keeping the theme alive and relevant. If this set is a hit with kids, then so be it and I'll learn to like what they offer. In a way I appreciate that this year LEGO's Friends and Disney sets haven't appealed to me as much, especially this latest round of amusement park ride sets with their neon green and purple. It's given me a breather from feeling I have to collect all the sets, and given me more appreciation of what they've already released (along with the great shop sets like the grocery, cupcake shop, etc.) Elves, on the other hand, is becoming my favorite theme and worth getting every set from.
  3. I hope LEGO continues to provide variety in sets. That's their job, just get the sets on the shelves. How they look and how they are marketed, I don't care much, since parents play the biggest role in allowing their children to choose whatever sets they want without shaming them for making the "wrong" choice. If parents/others shame the children, LEGO's marketing/packaging isn't going to undo this. I think it's easy to scapegoat LEGO rather than face that the negative things done to people based on what gender they are classified as is done by the people they interact with regularly, not companies.
  4. Gotten into a groove of washing and laying out to dry a 32 oz. yogurt container of dirty LEGO parts daily. My backlog of bulk hauls will finally become clean and sorted in with my other parts.
  5. I recently found 10193 Medieval Market Village, 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop, and 10216 Winter Village Bakery for $75 off Craigslist. Dusty and no minifigures or other small items, just the buildings and a tree (the other tree is actually from a fire plane set). A couple dozen cracked pieces in Medieval Market (including some pricey tan arches) but mostly good. All of them missing a good deal of inside details. I've been wanting 10193 for a while but wasn't willing to pay the $100+ price it goes for used now, so this was great. I love the Tudor style of buildings.
  6. I can't say that the new color scheme affected me much. It's plenty readable. My concerns were/are only over the changes in functionality. I'm warming up to the changes on the catalog item information screen. I've found that the current color is carried over when adding to my wanted list, so no more reselcting the color there. This makes it quicker to add individual items from a set's inventory. It's also a little faster to find the going price for an item, though I still have to select "seller in USA" every time and re-search for items for sale.
  7. Watching from a different line, I get the same sterile feeling of the design, colors, etc. So it's not something specific to this Valley High School set, but general to their sets. This interests me a lot because I still can't put my finger on what technically is responsible for this.
  8. Ugh, AVOID PayPal on-site payment, as it doesn't give the seller your shipping address so negates protection (among other problems). I just spent a while confirming this and trying to resolve it to no avail. Stick with the older send PayPal link for payment.
  9. On the item screen it doesn't list all the colors below, instead in a popup menu that has to be scrolled through. Definitely displeased with that. I see that they do have the colors, just on another tab below that isn't selected by default. Also on the Add to wanted list screen it doesn't seem to list the known colors of an item anymore, just every color in the popup menu. I wish I had done these few orders I've been wanting to do a week ago, before this change.
  10. He still needs over $90k, not just $10k. He's only going to reach around 30% of his goal.
  11. I just watched a video and the male character could jump what looked like five feet or so in the air, so it's already exaggerated. My guess is that the designers wanted players to be able to easily tell what characters have what special abilities. By having it generalized based on gender, it's easier to remember. "I need a high jump. Switch to a female character." If stories had to meet our ideals in all ways, there'd be no variation; they'd all just be the same story with people as we want to imagine them.

Recently missing multiple 41035 Heartlake Juice Bar sets on clearance at multiple Walmart stores for $4.18 each, 87% off MSRP.
  13. I got a laugh out of the interview where you said that the second important part of Meta-Ridley is the part where you shoot on his chest. That's exactly what I looked for when I first saw the model and had in my mind as you went over him, because aside from his overall menacing shape and burned wings, where to shoot is the most important point when playing the game.
  14. I'm a little shocked. I read the topic title as saying that it's for rumors and discussion of Disney Princess 2015 sets. discussion (n.) - the action or process of talking about something, typically in order to reach a decision or to exchange ideas. I notice that this thread was begun in mid 2014, almost a year ago, when the only things known might have been rumors. At this point there are a lot of 2015 Disney sets already released for people to talk about. I looked around and didn't notice anything in particular clarifying what was and was not to be posted in it. If this thread is for rumors only, the title could be changed to reflect that, and another thread created for people to just talk about the sets (I looked around and didn't see any others for general LEGO Disney discussion). I think that this would have a less chilling effect on postings than threatening to remove people from this forum.
  15. I took the risk of buying nine current mid-sized sets from someone on Craigslist offering them new sealed at half price, even though I was wary of the whole thing. Opened sets in front of seller and they checked out and seller wasn't bothered by verifying. Planning next buy. This is going to make me broke. I still have not fully accepted that this really happened.
