  1. It is an entrance to the main part of the ship's hold. I thought that if I partitioned this space with some kind of grating, it could be used as a prison cell.
  2. Thank you It is a bit hard to render more good images of the cabin because of available angles, but I have just uploaded another one. By the way, I think I could have made the cabin ceiling also removable.
  3. True, during designing I was considering creating a third mast but in that case I think ship should be longer. Anyway, apart from number of masts it distincts from a brig, so this is more like a hybrid for me
  4. It is very tempting, but first I need to raise some funds to purchase parts Currently I am trying to sell soldiers' ship ("Admirals Eagle") which I built in 2015 - I guess when I cash in, then I will visit Bricklink and do research. As for parts in metallic gold color (it is the biggest problem), maybe I'll try to paint some Lego bricks to keep the original look of Royal Navy Frigate.
  5. Thank you, so far I have got only parts list to share. I am trying to explore one more option regarding this model, but if it won't work maybe I will prepare manual (depends on time).
  6. Thank you As for parts list I have it in cvs format from Bricklink Studio, I am not familiar with rebricklable (how difficult is transfering model). Perhaps I will create instruction for it however I assume it would take some work and this ship has already consumed a bit too much of my time recently And there is problem with availability of some parts in metallic gold color, one dark bluish grey part(78666) and minifigures (torsos in dark red and dark blue epaulettes), so I think it is currently impossible to build exact copy.
  7. Ahoy! I had some spare time recently, so I decided to play with Bricklink Studio and build a soldier's ship - this is how the "Royal Navy Frigate" was created. It consists of 1293 bricks; dimensions are 59.5 cm x 44.1 cm x 21.8 cm. Main features 3 cannons that can be quickly moved to both sides; an easily removable deck that provides access to the ship's hold; an anchor on chain controlled by a rotating mechanism – the front part of the ship can be also entirely taked out; a furnitured captain's cabin accessible from both sides thanks to hinged drop-down walls; additional space under the stateroom, which can be used as a berthing or prison cell for captured pirates; 5 minifigures: admiral, two officers, and two soldiers. All elements except those in metallic gold, one in dark bluish gray and minifigures were already in production. As for sails – these are parts #87675 and #87676 – with new printing design. To be honest this post is bitter-sweet for me, because I also wanted to invite you to Lego Ideas to support this project - unfortunately today it was rejected due to the fact TLG released Pirates of the Barracuda Bay in LEGO Ideas line. The comment I received was reffering to "commonality of design between galleon and frigate style ships", so "this build would fall under this concept category and sadly overlap". I don't see any possibility to change it so I am not going to resubmit it. Anyway, time for images
  8. Western is one of my favourite discontinued themes (sadly it has been dead for 25 years now). I would like to share a bit untypical Western MOC with you. My target was to create one "unreleased" set that could fit in classic line (and appear in 1998 alongside another wave of wild west sets). So there is no newer parts (or colors) and graphic presentation is strongly related to original Western theme. For me the most obvious object missing in the whole theme is saloon, so I decided to build it, together with small barber shop. Well, here is set #6768:
  9. This is very inspiring! My first thought was these could (or should) be kind of images appearing in catalogs (as you noticed TLG used to do it in the past). Just out of curiosity - how long it takes to prepare scene for shooting and processing image? (on average; I suppose it differs much)

I'm happy to hear that you like the set. When I build something of Lego (which doesn't happen very often now), it always has 'reasonable' number of parts (however I think some of really big MOCs are great) - especially when it was meant for Lego Ideas. As for gathering all parts - it won't be easy, trust me but I think it's worth to do - Admiral's Eagle definitely looks better 'live'.

Hello again I'm sorry for not responding, after some time I stopped checking this thread. That file was deleted automatically, I've uploaded it again now, if anyone is interested, here is the download link: https://www.file-upload.com/net7i1a5t8ar

If someone would like to see the model in Lego Digital Designer, here is the link to download LXF file: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=96873911364109228416

Amazing work, it must have been time consuming... Anyway, this island has a truly pirate atmosphere

I agree that it's at least worth to try to build also smaller ship (and if I do, I will definitely show it here) but I'm not convinced about chances on Lego Ideas. When I published Admiral's Eagle, after 3 days it has been already 150 supporters, but then it slowed down - maybe majority of people who are interested in Lego Pirates or ships voted and there won't be no major growth any more. I am not sure what is the real key, apart from things you mentioned (e.g. playability which I also tried to bring into the ship) - maybe the originality of idea (there was a couple of ships in the recent years, so it's not in favour of my project), or basing on popular movie (like Jurassic Park) or appearing on LI frontpage Unfortunately there is no such part in LDD from what I know (if you are referring to torso part).

Thank you for the kind words, mates A few people also had the same feeling (about the fact that ship is a little similar to the new pirate ships). As for building a mid-size ship it's a really good idea and maybe I will try to build one, when I find some time and money for new parts. As for Lego Ideas, unfortunately I think now that neither "Admiral's Eagle" nor smaller ship has a chance to succeed.
