  1. Despite the growing number of cars, there's one positive trend in the Technic lineup: Since 2021 there have been pneumatic sets in every annual lineup.
  2. If Nissan Skyline GT-R is coming, I hope there will finally be a 3x7 panel in LBG. A MOC of mine will really appreciate that part.
  3. Alternate model of 42157. Except the digging arm and the outriggers it has everything that you may think of for a backhoe. It even has 3 steering modes. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-154575/nguyengiangoc/42157-b-model-backhoe-loader/#details
  4. You can already get a backhoe with all of those functions minus the boom in the scale of CLAAS tractor tires at the cost of around ~ 200$. There's no need for a motorized compressor, so the remaining 50$ can totally go to the rear digging arm. Therefore it's totally possible for TLG to produce a fully functional pneumatic backhoe at 250$. It's just that I'm not sure they would do it.
  5. TLG wants licenses because licensed sets sell more than unlicensed sets of similar design.
  6. As for me, I also feel my interest in official Lego sets fading. I still love Lego Technic a lot, but I don't feel the same enthusiasm for upcoming sets. That is the main motivation behind my work on the mini replica series. I've been around for quite a long time, and for the most part I was never really into MOC-ing or even modding. But the arrival of the Bugatti Bolide, which introduces micropanels, , the small scale replica in the knockoff brands, and the change in the annual lineup made me feel like I can preserve the essence of the old style Technic in the mini replicas.
  7. Short answers: 1. Those who like the function-rich style of Technic, like Eurobrick citizens, do not make up the majority of Technic buyers. In fact they are in a rather small minority. 2. Technic lineup's current direction for lineup is that there's something for everyone, which means there are sets for other tastes, which results in smaller share of the old style. 3. The current kind of lineup sells better.
  8. It amazes me sometimes how lacking pieces in Yellow and LBG still are, even though they are among the most common colors for pieces. It's not until this year that there are 1x1 spacer, 1x2 xo liftarm, and mudguards in yellow. For LBG, even though there are connetors in that color, there are no big panel in LBG except the 5x11 one, so it's hard to build something with large surfaces in LBG.
  9. Hi everyone, this is a compilation from RacingBrick
  10. If you're referring to the black spine, are you sure it's not a 11L? I counted 5 vertical holes and 5 horizontal holes.
  11. Looks like the only functions are rotating blade connected to flat 4 engine using cam pieces and movable flaps. Also, it doesn't seem to have the common strobe light configures (red-green-white). Those lights appear in earlier small aircrafts, like 42040 Fire Plane. What a pity.
  12. Hot damn, it's actually a backhoe! It doesn't look like it has steering, does it? 4 wheels are fixed to the chassis.
  13. Im not sure if I remember correctly, but PF L and PF XL have the sane torque output. What makes L easier to use is that its form factor allows it to be integrated more easily into existing structure. To accomodate an XL you effectively need to clear out a 5x5 space.
  14. That was already discussed in the 2024 thread.
  15. I did think of it, but I haven't tried it. I don't plan to do so either because I don't like this set and I don't want to buy this set only to test a PF conversion mod. However, I did give it a few thoughts for PF Conversion, and I think it will be much more complicated then simply swapping motors. The biggest problem is that the output of PF L-motor does not provide as much torque as that of the Large Angular Motor does, so in order for the L motor to replace the Large Angular Motor there needs to be a lot of gearing down. I tackled that problem in the 42131 PF Conversion as that model also uses two Large Angular Motors for drive, and this is how much gearing down one L motor need in order to replace one Large Angular Motor for one track drive. The ratio from motor output to the planetary hub is (12/20)*(16/20)^3*(12/20) = 0.18432. And even with that much gearing down, the bulldozer can only move forward reliably, as it has problems moving backwards, even though I'm not sure if that's because insufficient gearing or another problem. Regardless, such amount of gearing down requires lots of space, obviously more than the space for just one Large Angular Motor. Within the confines of the 42131, it was quite a struggle to figure out where to put all the gears, because there are 4 linear actuators and a battery box around that area, and because I don't want to make too many changes to the original structure. I haven't built the 42146 digitally so I don't know how accomodating the structure is for all of that gearing down, but I think it's gonna be a tough job.

  17. If someone showed me this model without all the references to a Toyota Supra I would think it's some random MOC by a novice fan designer.
  18. It's not that LEGO doesnt have talented designers, it's that they are bound by some strange internal rules that result in products like this.
  19. If it's posted in here, then its first design phase is already complete. There's already a complete creation and there's already an instruction file for it. I don't post things that might not be finalized. But I want the creation to be test built before officially revealing it. During that time some things might change, maybe minor, maybe major, hopefully not major. That means the final thing that is published might not be the same design right now, and in most case it isn't. That's why I don't want to share the full thing. Also it's just for a little bit of teasing for fun. Lately I only do mini replicas of official set, and it's not hard to deduce what I designed based on the snippets.
  20. Not sure if soon, but just gonna drop it nonetheless!
