Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOk, I understand you now ;). I thought about a shift lever on the gearbox, but with the gearboxes of 3rd Gen it is almost impossible. It doesn't have a slider or a linear movement like the older versions(LR Defender for exemple) to add a shift lever easily.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMaybe I didn't write it well, but was talking about the diameter of the tires, not the rims. The wheels 8461 have the same diamenter as the wheels I used, 81.6mm...

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks to everyone! About the wheels all of you are right...or more or less. The GT500(actually all Mustangs I think) has the rear wheels bigger than the front ones. In the front has 65cm of diamenter and in the rear 68cm, if you take the MOC tyres (81.6mm) and the scale(1/8) you get that the car has an equivalent of 65cm of diamenter. So, the front wheels are in the exactly size, and the rear ones are a little bit small. And now, why the wheels looks like they are much more smaller? Good question, but I don't know the answer... I think that this is because the mudguard is a little bit bigger and the space between the wheel and mudguard makes the wheel look smaller than it really is. blakbird, I am sorry but, what do you mean with "Hurst shifter"? I can not understand you... you mean the gearbox shift lever?

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
This is the car I showed in the Lego Fan Weekend two weeks ago. This creation is made in scale 1:8. The total size is: 75 studs of length, 29 wide and 21 of high (60x23x17 cm) The weight is 3.1 kgs, with around 3500 parts and 5 motors. It includes some remote controlled functions: - Steering (M motor) - Drive (2 L motors) - Sequential gearbox (PF Servo motor) - Disc brakes (M motor) The sequential gearbox is an improved version of my previous Caterham ones (3rd Gen V2), with 5+R and auto-clutch. The speeds ratio: R - 2.08:1 1 - 1.67:1 2 - 1.25:1 3 - 1:1 4 - 1:1.33 5 - 1:1.67 The max speed in 5th speed is 3 kph (~2 mph) It has a gear indicator in the interior, between the front seats. For make more easy the gearbox tests the car in has a rear support to keep the rear axle lifted The suspension is based in the real one: front McPherson axle and a rear 4-links live axle. The front axle also has advenced geometry: Camber angle(2º), caster angle(3.5º) and kingpin angle(7º) The steering has ackerman geometry and working steering wheel. The car also has working disc brakes in all wheels, they are very powerfull and includes functional brake pedal. The complete video COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE COMING SOON!! How about more 'Realistic' Technic Models?
Completely agree!! This is the main reason why I can't make more complex suspensionsin my cars keeping the size of the car. To make it better I used the 8448 wheels in my 911, but the price of that wheels and the poor quantity available in BL make this wheels hard to use ;( Even a ~86-88mm of diameter wheels can be a great size. This is a great discussion with very interesting point of views. I will be pending.

The magazine contacts with me some weeks ago for ask me about some pictures and information. Also the past summer I was featured in a 4-pages repotage in the spanish edition of the autobild magazine (but I have received the printed copy now ;( )

Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingGood question, under the front axle there are some liftarms to get enougth strong in the paralelogram to keep it intact.

Caterham Seven
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe front suspension can't corretly seen without disassemble many parts..., but actually it is a versy simple double wishbone suspension, it is similar to this one from my MPS but using liftarms instead of Lego A-arms And yes, some parts of the bodywork can be removed without problems, mainly: the hood, the mudguards, the rear black hood and the front air entrance, the rest of the bodywork are the frame too. The development history of this car is very strange, This is the car I failed some months ago(I posted about it in my website), I spent 3 months in it along October, November and January, but I must forgot it for many problems... but at the begining of April, I restart it from zero, using this new gearbox, I designed and built the whole car in less than 3 weeks... almost incredible for me hahaha Yes, the brakes are the same as the LR, and some parts of the gearbox, the sequential mechanism is completely new, but the gears configuration are the same too.

Caterham Seven
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingReally well!! It can move fast and nimbly even in fifth gear, and the new gearbox is more realible than the Land-Rover ones.

Caterham Seven
I have the pleasure to present you my latest moc. The Caterhan Seven (also called Caterham 7) is the present version of the original Lotus Seven (or Lotus 7) designed by Colin Champan in 1957. This car is very famous because it is extremly ligth, and it has outstanding dinamic specs, which make this car perfect for its use in competition and track days. The original: This creation is made in scale 1:7. Thus remains in 29 studs wide, 56 of length and 20 fo high(23x45x16cm). The weigth is 2.2kgs. It has around 2500 parts. As all my MOCs, this includes some remote controlled functions: - Steering (PF M motor) - Drive (PF 2XL motors) - Sequential 5+R speeds gearbox (PF Servo motor) - Disc brakes (PF M motor) This car arrives with a 5+R speeds version of the all-new 3th generation of my sequential gearboxes. The new generation is even more compact and reliable. Of course it has auto.clutch It has a gear indicator in the cabin. Just behind the seats, over the rear axle are the battery and the drive motors (2XL) The Seven design is based in a tubular unibody frame with double wishbone front independent suspension and DeDion rear live axle. The front axle is double wishbone type with caster angle, camber angle and ackerman steering. The original Lotus 7 had a typical rear live axle, and the newest and powerfull version has independent suspension , but the most common rear axle is the DeDion axle. Like the real one, this creation has rear 3-links DeDion axle(you can see it in more detail in the video) The "most wanted" picture. This creationa also has working brakes in all wheels(the same brakes used in my Land-Rover) Like the real Seven, this creation mantains the unibody frame. Also to reduce the weigth, the frame and the bodywork are the same thing. The yellow liftarms in both sides of the car are the bodywork, but at the same time are the frame of the car. This picture shows how the structure is made As always a little video: For more info and pictures you can visit sheepo.es Fernando

Sheepo's LEGO Technic Modular Platform System (MPS)
Sheepo replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOne more MPS rear axle MPS. Rear axle V: Torsion-beam Following idea by Zachary Cross Without drive (code: R.D) - R.D.1 As always you can download all axles and chassis in only one link: Download

Sheepo's LEGO Technic Modular Platform System (MPS)
Sheepo replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHere is the first axle of the new MPS season ;) MPS. Rear axle IV: Live axle with leaf spring Following the idea by legomuppet9. With drive (code F.CD) - R.CD.2 This leaf springs uses angle connectors to "looks like a eliptic" leaf spring, and also the connectos and the 3L axles give a great elastic force. It works really well, is very strong and uses very common parts You can read more about the Modular Platform System here: MPS Also you can download all axles and chassis in only one link: Download

Sheepo's LEGO Technic Modular Platform System (MPS)
Sheepo replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelinglegolijntje as you said, to build a whole chassis with axles is not a modular design... I know the twin i-beam suspension, and I think it will can be a good axle, but before to build strange and rare axles, I prefer build more usefull axles to help people to build its own supercars. Alasdair, the MPS was design to build supercars, not trucks. I can try to build some of it, but I don't know if the result will be enough good for me...

Sheepo's LEGO Technic Modular Platform System (MPS)
Sheepo replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI will try it, but the modular system was not designed to use two longitudinal drive shafts. To do it well I will need desing the axles and the frame, and the result will not be compatible with the others MPS elments... In the published chassis is very easy change the length(the red liftarms) and the width(the yellow liftarms). A cage version is a good idea, also a F1 axles are a gread idea too, both are added to my MPS pending list  .

Sheepo's LEGO Technic Modular Platform System (MPS)
Sheepo replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have added a new interesting entry in my website about the MPS: here But this is the most important part: In this moment is when I need your opinion and ideas for new MPS elements. Obviously I will not made all elements to tell me, but I will study all of them, and I will built all of it which could be interesting for me. Please leave a comment in this post with your ideas ;) I will not rebuild the old axles with little modfications, like wider or narrower... this is your work as user of it ;) Try with new types of axles, or with more advanced features, for example: front live axle, "buggy" type rear axle or double beam chassis I am waiting for your ideas!

Sheepo's Land Rover 110 review
Sheepo replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI am glad you enjoyed it so much ;) I must say that all the "bugs" that you have found in the gearbox are true, but I will explain they one by one I forgot add an advise to how to out it correctly, as I did in the Veyron's gearbox, sorry ;(, I will add it in the second edition will all bugs fixed You are right again, but if you look ths part list you can find 3 red rubbers... I only put 2 in the model, but probably you are not the onyl person who need to use 3... this is because some rubbers are stronger than others(in the same part reference) This stop is there because some times the gearbox can jump one speed, changin from 2nd to 4th, for exemple. But if your model works find with it, better for you ;) This is the most important score for me, because I know that the cost of the instructions are high, but the necessary work to do it was huge. I wanted to put a complete roof, but if you look the rear suspension, it is half compressed, so if I add a roof it will compress almost completely because of the extra weight. Perhaps this review can show that my models meet what you can see in my videos;), and delete the distrust in me and my models ;) Thanks for the review.

Land-Rover Defender 110
Sheepo replied to Sheepo's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling5 minutes ago I have finished the frame in SR3D. It has exactly 317 parts without any mechanism... Also I need some more time to make the rest of the car... put the pieces in the correct order... send it to the person who will help me to do the pdf file... test the results to avoid errors, and after all that it will be ready to be published ... I will try to do it as soon as possible, but do not know how long will it take to me...

Land Rover Defender 90 9398 Crawler Instructions
Sheepo replied to Meatman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI don't have problem if someone made a copy or a based model(very similar but in smaller scale in this case), sometimes even I have helped people to make versions of my cars without problems, but I hate if someone sells instructions for a model directly based in my work. Thanks for your comment Paul, very usefull, this is the first time that this happens to me. Fortunately I have not sent still any message hahaha Looking at the benefits of this, I have decided and now I've started to make instructions for my Defender
