Coupling two PF powered locomotives
I've had the same thoughts before and after some messing around found that controlling the two engines isnt too bad, put one on Red and the other Blue and move the controls together. A bit fiddly at first but you get used to it. The other option of just dragging the other engine isnt too bad, it depends how heavy they are, the lighter engines like on the 7938 Passenger Train will quite happily be dragged along without any complaints. The middleweights like the 7939 Cargo Train are fine as long as the ride isnt too bumpy and you dont change speed too quickly otherwise they decouple. And the heavyweights like the EN just wont have it, although you can effectively use the second loco for power and shove the front loco, just try not to reverse. The magnets on the PF loco's are quite strong, with two 7939's set to travel in the oposite direction they will sit there spinning their wheels for the first few power settings, whereas the magnets from my 7898 RC Cargo Train give up quite quickly.

Maersk vs BNSF: Enough cargo for both?
I started my Second childhood far too late to have any 9V without paying a fortune for it, so its all plastic track! Personally I dont think it will stick out too badly once I've mixed up the freight a little, especially when it has some 9739 cars in there too, it will just be a mash of disogranised colors. I'll have to see how it looks and post some photos when my Maersk finally gets here!

Maersk vs BNSF: Enough cargo for both?
I have two jobs for my BNSF as I never powered it, as I dont own any 9V track, I am strictly PF only, crazy I know! The First is a helper engine for my Maersk, though unpowered it can quite happily sit behind the 10219 and not look out of place, or perhaps at the end of a 9 or 10 car consist with 2 10219's at the front. The other was a brickflick of Unstopable, or at least some of the scenes from it of which I think the BNSF would do quite nicely. But first I need a second one! Personally having never had power for my BNSF and never had another Loco that quite fits with it the Maersk presents me with the chance to finally see it in action! Albeit towed along by another engine.

Maersk Train Arrives
I ordered mine on release day and I'm still eagerly awaiting its arrival, although I am hopeful it will come today. Its still showing as Available Now on S@H in the UK, which is making me want to part with more of my hard earned cash for another one.

3677 Red Freight Train
I'm a little undecided about this engine. I will definitely be buying this, but as to whether I buy several of these or just the one, I dont know. I have 3 7939's and I would probably buy another 4 if I could afford it. I love the engine, and I could definitely see the Red battery box being of use to me for MOC's and as use as a little yard shunter. The Green Box car looks a little odd and out of place, it looks very retro, very much like the red box car from 7898, I'm not really a fan of it on the old RC Cargo train and the colors look very out of place. The Utility car with the little crane, I cant decide if I like this or not, it doesnt jump out at me at all, but I dont hate it, however I cant see the use for more than one. The coal hopper I feel the same way as I do about Marmite, I like it, but at the same time I really dont! Its a great little addition, but I cant bring myself to say that its brilliant, I think its that big single piece that makes up the hopper. The utility truck, I love this, its a brilliant little addition. Fits really well with the other utility vehicles for City. And the Ballast Loader, I'm not sure, I want to see it really, much like most of the train. Overall I think the kids will love the train, I like some of it, however I'll reserve final judgement for when I have the completed engine on my rails. I'll definitely be buying one, whether I buy any more I'm not so sure, completely unlike the 10219 where I know I'll be spending too much money on several of them.

What got you into Lego Trains?
Growing up I loved lego, as far back as I can remember I had lego, but I never got into Trains, I was very much into pirates, castles and space sets, until I reached my teens and my attention turned towards Technics. As I went through University and my first jobs I didnt really have the time to continue my obsession and an overzealous family sold all of my lego. Then recently last year I was looking into train sets for myself, discovering I didnt really have the room for a full Hornby set I discovered the Lego sets. Taking up less space and reigniting that love for Lego, and the whole make it yourself wonder. So my first set was the 7939 Cargo Train, and this has quickly grown, to significantly more than the size that a Hornby set would have taken up. Taking in a lot of trains as well as a lot of the City sets.

88002 or 8866?
Thanks very much everyone. The Lego site doesnt make it very clear! JopieK: Thanks very much for that link, it gives me a lot of very useful details!

88002 or 8866?
I'm sorry if its been asked before, but I couldnt find anything discussing the 88002 motor and what is the difference between that and the 8866? Obviously there is a price difference, in the UK being 2 GBP. So to me they look identicle, apart from a small difference in color, and the description doesn't give much away, but is one more reliable, faster, less whiny at low speed? Thanks for your advice!

3677 Red Freight Train
I'll have to purchase my Passenger train soon then, that way I can afford to get the Maersk Loco (or three) as well as this, although I think I will just be getting it for completeness as apart from the engine the rolling stock is on the most part butt ugly. But anothor loco is always a good thing!

Electric Switch Tracks Set
By clunky I mean something a bit more solid for use, as a picture says a thousand words: Really its only so I can include the children if they want to play, their little fingers could use something like that much easier. I missed out on the other eras and started with PF/RC so something like this is brilliant!

Electric Switch Tracks Set
I do really like this, small, and very simple! And not too intrusive for larger loco's passing the points. That said 120€ price tag is not terrible, but it is a lot, expecially considering you would need 2, 3 or probably more of these for a reasonble sized layout I would be interested in how long the cabling is, although looking at it I'm sure that is easily extended with some simple speaker wire. I would prefer if the switches were a little more clunky, more like a light switch? Some very nice ideas to take away from this though.

RC Train Tracks: Reversing Loops
It was done using Lego's own Track Designer, I was at work so didnt have access to any other tools, however, you would expect Lego's own tools to be correct. But I know from experience it fits together.
-
RC Train Tracks: Reversing Loops
It doesnt quite meet, but there is enough flex in the standard track for it to meet correctly. I use this quite a lot, its nice and simple, very similar to Snapshot's.

LEGO Train 12 Volts Episode II
This just shows off some of the things I miss that RC/PF are lacking. Although the mass spaghetti of wires I dont miss, even though I personally think it adds some character to the whole thing! Very good looking collection, and looks great in the dark!
