LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
tazosaure replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love the peanut suit idea but I think it only makes sense for minifigs in the food costume to be advertising for official lego food parts, since apple and pizza suits seem ruled out, my best guess would be a carrot suit, the fit and bag feel for it would be roughtly the same as for the hot dog and banana suits.- 1,421 replies

Minifigures Character Encyclopedia 2013
tazosaure replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The book cover snapshot says "includes more than 160 minifigures" so I'm thinking it covers at least the first 10 series but may also have the 9 team GB olympians. That would be 169 pages for one minifigure per page ratio, although maybe the TeamGB (if included at all) is presented on a more compact layout. Of course the bundled exclusive minifigure might have its own page as well...- 68 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

I would say the hair is a pretty dead give away that he is a pretty unlikely candidate for being from sub-sahara, no matter what culture he might have adopted for himself. But the hair piece is an easy swap :) -
Old newspaper sounds like it would be it but a cane would be nice.

I agree on the tomahawk, but I was thinking the roman officer will get the spear and she might get a sword. She looks like a "Xena: warrior princess" type of character to me :)

Woow a potential series 10 BEFORE series 9... When will we finally get a peek at the full series 9 line up!!! That said all these parts look very promising indeed! Love Pierrot, so unexpected, and he'll make a great pair with the S2 Mime (plus they can easily share a couple of faces as needed). The sea captain was bound to happen but the seagull is a pretty clever alternative to a pipe accessory-wise. The grandpa is simply awesome, i'll have to build him a rockin'chair or something. Given that the roman parts are not for the series 9 caesar then it means we'll get one more roman minifig, yeah! Hopefully an "asterix" like gaul minifig will be coming soon too. Series 9 listing was somewhat surprisingly lacking in sports minifig, those are typically not my favorites, but I'm glad to see my pitcher will get a teammate. I'm also wondering if the bumblebee could be the encyclopedia exclusive... Historically costumed minifig have been coming only on odd numbered series (series 1 being the exception), the bumble bee in series 10 would break that pattern. Anyway, very good finding, and good job to all with the virtual assembling!!

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
tazosaure replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks! Regarding maraca man, obviously we are far off from the movie (which I agree is what clearly inspired the sketches). Of course I may be wrong but to me it looked like a good example of how the original design had evolve into a more 'politically correct' toy. That said, personally I would be happy with new (non-green) sombrero CMF either something like the original drawing or a more accurate mariachi in black costume with a guitar :) -

Just for the fun, i did a little side by side comparison between Boudon's original concept and their plastic renditions: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=516272 Did I forget any? So far the actual CMFs have been staying really pretty close to the initial mock ups so here's hoping the hollywood starlet and caesar minifig stay just as close to Boudon's art as well, because those would simply be awesome!! PS: it's impressive how many of those figures have already been released but amazingly from those drawings alone there's close to 2 more series of 16 minifigs remaining to be implemented so contrary to thinking the LEGO designers might be running out of ideas for the CMF line, it looks like it still has a bright future ahead and I would be surprised if we didn't get at least 16 series total! -

True, I can see how that could work for some people, as they now finally can build opposite teams for a minifig size "bring it on" -
Value of CMF collection and certain minifigures

One can snatch an elf up for $15 in the lego store VIP exclusive pack: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-VIP-Top-5-Boxed-Minifigures-850458 But for that price one also gets 4 more figs!!! Did I miss something here? And how can the cheerleader be $10 when you can get it for $15 in the calendar set along with the S1 skater and some bricks?!?! Is there a difference between the 2? They look pretty much the same to me... http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Brick-Calendar-853195 Anyways I don't think CMF despite their names will hit truly crazy collectible prices, they've been produced too widely and TLC has shown it will not shy away from bringing back the past CMF figs on the market again, diluting "collectible" value (see above 2 examples, as well as the beach pack: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Minifigure-Accessory-Pack-850449) Even the zombie is not that unique anymore with the Monster Fighters "the zombies" set (zombie "bride", "groom" and "chauffeur") as well as the "haunted mansion" (zombie "chef", multiple zombie heads in the pillars) -

Actually strike that, I had not realized this, but the cheerleader has actually been available for quite a while in the calendar set (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Brick-Calendar-853195?_requestid=3482300) so releasing an almost identical one has even less appeal as the original one is still available (yes it is like $15 but you get a bunch of bricks with that and the S1 skater so not such a bad deal)... At least if she had something other than the recolor to make her more unique and less looking like some alternate universe "evil-self" version of the S1 cheerleader (the "evil self" effect would have been perfect if instead of the A she was wearing a W, i.e; upside-down M ), maybe pig-tails with big bright bows like many cheerleader have, or a cheering megaphone, I don't know something... In my opinion this has too be one of the laziest CMF produced so far, even the various skaters had more uniqueness going for themselves. (that said i'll still pick one up given the opportunity, I'm a completist ) -

Interestingly this series is reminding me of series 3, in that series 3 space alien was for me clearly TLC trying to refurbish SPIII alien heads just like the evil female alien seems to be a refurb of AQ alien heads. And series 3 still had the novelty of collectible minifigures going for it, and no rehashes of previous series... Knowing that series 3 was the least favorite in White Fang series 7 review poll it's no wonder to me we see so many disappointed comments since the list and now pictures finally surfaced. I must say I am a bit disappointed myself. To be honest I'm no army builder and I've always seen CMFs as a way to get truly unique figures, the kind that have little chance of being produced in regular/unlicensed themes, especially not themes still currently on shelves... or at least revisit themes that have not been in production for several years maybe as a testing ground for a relaunch, kind of like the classic monsters minifigures seemingly leading up for the monster fighter theme. (In short I am the kind of people who like the crash test dummy fig :) ) A recolor of the monster figthers manbat, a recolor of the series 1 robot, a recolor of the series 1 cheerleader and a very slight variation of the AQ mothership alien commander would all have been more acceptable if spread out over several series but, in my opinion this is a bit much to be all in one series, making the overall series look "un-original". I think I am echoing the sentiment that's been surfacing in a bunch of replies. To all the other disappointed I must say this though: notice that the man-bat and evil female alien, although not original, are variations of figures previously only available in some of the most expensive set of their respective theme, and that the cheerleader and robot were some of the most appreciated figures of a now 2 years old, scarcely available series 1, so TLC is still catering to quite a large portion of their customer by (re)releasing those "on the cheap" and it's a bit hard to be mad at them for this. I cannot honestly believe Lego designers are running out of ideas, just a peek at the embassy's "What minifigs are we missing" should be enough to fill several more series with truly unique minifigure (8 series without a proper renaissance/judge wig? I wouldn't have bet on it). If anything the thespian is proof that the designers still have plenty more in store to surprise and amaze us. Maybe the recent decision/rumor to push this theme to sixteen series and all the other recent jaw dropping or surprise announcements (hobbit, b-wing, haunted house, team GB) meant that regular CMFs 8 were a bit on the back burner, let's hope it was really just a hick up and that series 9 and on will come back strong: I want my classic movie starlet (aka marilyn monroe), my bellhop, my toga and olive branch crown, my canadian mountie, my boy/girl scout and soooooooo many more...! -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
tazosaure replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm not against some amount of 'repeats' myself but the minifigs still have to be sufficiently different from each other to keep thing interesting in my book (and I am pretty sure this is true for the actual designers of the minifig as well :) ). The geeky girl is a good idea, and as far as musicians go, I think Lego made the right call so far making them each represent a different kind of music, please bring more (jazz, marching band, etc) But your example of a new mechanic, if it is simply with a new hairdo and name tag would be a bit of a let down to me... However a "rosie the riveter" style minifig (which I believe would go really well with the mechanic) would be greatly appreciated! Same thing for the zookeeper, why make another zookeeper (which concept allows for little variety in the fig design/printing), when new animal molds could also come along so many different minifigs like a vet, a sheperd (with a little lamb), a blind (with a guide dog), a search party member (with a rescue dog), etc As far as clowns go, between the 2 CMF clowns, the CMF mime I consider the subject covered and do not look forward a new one anytime soon (especially since you can already mix the 2 clowns with batman's jocker and harley quinn, as well as with the kingdom' court jester if you really need a bigger clown crowd). -

Here are my 2cents on this series. Ancient Thespis Sounds like the toga wearing minifig a lot of people have been expecting for so long. Lego is definitely catering to AFOL with this fig IMHO. I am intrigued by the fact they specify "thespis" are we to expect a 2 faces minifig, 1 face for each mask? Pirate Captain I am not a big pirate fan but the first pic of the fig looks ok. Like others I am a little disappointed/worried not to see a new parrot in this preliminary pic. I'm also wondering if we should expect a golden peg-leg :) Conquistador A highly requested fig, thanks for listening TLC! Enemy Robot Color me pretty excited about this one! Evil Female Alien I cannot really picture what this one could look like, but I am definitely intrigued! Diver Let's hope for an old timey/steampunk style diver. An new present day diver would be of little interest to me. Vampire Since I won't be purchasing the monster fighter vampire castle and might not have the funds for the haunted house, a female vampire to go with my series 2 dracula would suit me just fine. Fairy Wings, wand, want!!! Football Player It didn't even occur to me this could be another soccer player, that would be pretty disappointing as far as I'm concern, especially since a soccer player comes with limited possibilities for new parts. A ball? Possible but so far none of the sports minifig came with a ball... Most likely a bronze or silver medal. On my side I'll keep my fingers crossed for an American football player until we get the pics. Trader Although a fur trader would be nice, I would expect a fur trader to be called a "fur trader" so unfortunately I'm lowering my expectation to a modern day wall street trader for this one. Skier This isn't specified but I'm assuming this could be a female fig since the previous skier was male. Potentially to keep things interesting this could even be a speed skier with one of those fancy aerodynamic helmets. Otherwise I'm also thinking she could have a silver or bronze medal. Red Cheerleader I know this has been requested here and there, and I welcome this fig, but it was really not a priority for me, I would have rather have a proper sports fan to populate the bleachers than a new cheerleader Santa Claus A real santa fig? count me in! I'm hoping for a new sack, proper hat and a 2x2 tile printed as a wrapped present. Boy in Bavarian costume This one doesn't interest me particularly but as been highly requested so once again thanks for listening TLC :) DJ Not sure what could make this fig recognizable from another civilian figs except some headphones and a printed LP round tile. I would be surprised if they could make a headphones piece that's not too flimsy and doesn't look too weird so I'm kind of expecting them to be printed. Cowgirl Here's hoping she gets a lasso! Overall I'm pretty optimistic about this series and even though I had swore to myself I would stop collecting them all (and just buy the ones I'm interested in) after series 7 (times have been a little tough financially) I'm not sure I'll be able to resist completing this series... -
Wow, just wow! I neeeeed this :) love the details both interior and exterior and the new figs are pretty awesome too!
