  1. Too big to be a set I would actually buy, but I like the way this looks! Nice job with the rendering and graphics as well. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Looks quite imposing and playable. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Buying official sets is awesome for finding parts that you didn't know you need until you have it in your hand. Lego has introduced so many new molds in recent years that whenever I buy an official set, I get cool new parts for building that I never knew existed! Some of the most fun that can be had with Lego is using the pieces of official sets to build something new, as sets usually have a good assortment of parts that can all work together color-wise. One thing to be aware of: if you buy a bunch of sets, part them out, use them for custom creations, and then try to resell the sets a few years down the line, it is very likely that one or two parts will go missing in that time. It just happens.
  4. Yeah, maybe.... The thing is, a violin has a very specific set of shapes and proportions, none of which are recreated quite correctly in the Ideas model. Honestly, it is pretty ugly to me. The piano set was also disproportionate, but pianos have much more variation in their shapes and proportions than violins do, so the piano set doesn't look quite so "wrong" to my eyes. A piano also has more flat surfaces than a violin does. Granted, I have never bought an Ideas set of a household object, so maybe I'm not the target market. Signed, a violinist .

Very nice! My assessment: you got a good deal .

    I like it!
  7. Very cool! I think the shapes you used for the yellow and white sections of the carriage worked out really well. Dieselpunk is a great genre for Lego creations---nostalgic, but with freedom to create your own original forms. Thanks for sharing!

Instantly recognizable as a Dakar Rally scene. Nice creation!

I really enjoy those buildings! It looks like the walls are patched together with old sheet metal. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Awesome. Feeling some strong Seatron vibes from the black astronaut evolution.

This looks good, dysnomia! Everything looks sturdy enough for an IRL build, so hopefully some Deep Space Nine fans will find your model and have fun building it! Nice job with the instructions too.

Maybe it will become a Lego product in the future, but it's currently licensed to one of Lego's competitors (Mega Construx).
  13. Agreed. I like seeing diverse solutions for interior access.
  14. I liked the red, haha! But I like the new one too. The new version is a little less toy-ish and a little more intimidating .
  15. Whoah! Not an answer I could have predicted, but that's a great story! Congrats on all your hard work and your brickfilming success.
  16. Wow. I so wish that I had thought of this! Brio trains and Lego were my two favorite toys as a kid, and now they can be united! More importantly, now I can make Lego trains without breaking the bank . Thank you for sharing.
  17. I like it Antha! Thank you for sharing. The blue leaves really stand out and just make me happy to look at it.
  18. I'm liking it! It's hard to tell if it's colorful enough for a tuner car without a physical build and stickers. Maybe get in some of the trans neon yellow? Overall shaping looks good to me (honestly, way better use of that windscreen than the original set IMO). Love rear section and rear running lights in particular. I'm pretty sure the rear wheels won't look medieval with the stickers added, but I'm undecided on whether I like them yet . Thanks for sharing!
  19. A rope bridge built with actual rope? Not just one giant piece? That's not the Adventurers way! Just kidding . Looks very cool and playable.
  20. Really cool and intriguing, Dutch Thriceman. I think this version is an improvement, but there are aspects I like from both. The power pole design is an improvement IMO. It's less chunky and the hanging lightning arrester really catches my eye in a good way. The soccer ball and needle both add to the post apocalyptic vibe. I would like it if the pizza box were a bit weathered, but that's a minor point. One point about photography: I can't see any of the characters' eyes in any of the pictures! The kid and the care bear guy from the last iteration were really fascinating. I feel that I would be more drawn in to the world and characters if I could see a face. But maybe that was intentional?
  21. What inspired you to start making brickfilms, Rich? Welcome to Eurobricks!

Congratulations on the Lego haul! I think you will need to change the sharing settings on your google drive videos for us to be able to see them. Welcome to the forum, by the way!
  23. There are a number of commercials with Lego maniac songs that you can find on YouTube. Not sure if that's the jingle you're thinking of, though. Also, I kinda want this Lego Maniac hat I found in a '96 catalog...
  24. Yeah, I had no idea that Rock Raiders had a space setting until I saw Nick on Planet Ripple's Rock Raiders video. My brothers had some sets back in the day, and they didn't know either. I checked in the 1999 US S@H catalogs, and didn't see anything that mentioned that the theme isn't set on earth. It's mentioned in the UK catalogs though... This thread is getting a bit hard to follow, but I'll chime to let it be known that I don't consider a globe to be a space set .
  25. Maybe a brig or brigantine? I am not an expert on these matters, but here's a definition from this Aubrey and Maturin website. Like most Lego ships, the Yago looks to me like a 17th century vessel, with its high aftcastle and forecastle. In any case, I think either definition of "brig" would apply to the Yago. A beautiful ship, to be sure! I'm enjoying the progress of your pirate harbor as well.
