  1. Not impressed by that list whatsoever. I only hope they are saving the good sets for summer, (Cap 2, ASM etc). Coming post film might have been decided so they can have better set designs and not be limited because of spoilers. On the other hand, they might just skip ASM and only would have released that CC fig this year, which was the best Spider-man fig to date.
  2. Thanks for the info, so only 10 sets the first wave, and the other 7 are for the next? Not really much to go on, but it looks like this could be relating to the type of sets. A bunch of medium size sets for each theme they utilize. That would be the most logical since the original description sounded like it would be a sort of throwback theme. Aanchir found these in LEGO's database. The first thing I thought of when I heard "yellow windscreen" was Classic Space, as that is part of the iconic color scheme. Maybe this theme will feature some new Classic Space sets? In addition it looks like Castle and Space are absent in 2014. This theme could fill in there.
  3. "Excellent work troopers, everyone supported the Rebel Alliance greatly in this mission. Since this is the first time we have all worked together, it makes it something to be proud about. However the Empire never rests, and we have received intelligence of a situation that will require all the skills new troopers have learned and then some in the next mission. Standby as the mission briefing is currently being finalized".

It was the next Modular building 10243. I think a Marvel D2C will be released in 2015, Stark Tower or the Helicarrier for Avengers 2 (if they appear in the film, most likely they will). Stark Tower: $250, 2500+ parts Similar size to the Tower of Orthanc, 24" high. Several levels with interior details. Minifigs: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Falcon, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Agent Coulson and Ultron.

I haven't been this impressed by a LEGO set in a long time. So many fantastic details and building techniques. The scooter is a great new mold that I am sure will be used a lot in the future. I agree with others this is easily the best modular to date, and bumps Cafe Corner down the list.
  6. I take my theory back, it seems LEGO has had strange releasing strategies for a long time. Yeah, I agree Faefrost, it was mishandled from the start, which is a shame since it had a lot of nice elements and original designs.
  7. I wonder if Space Troopers will pass review. LEGO seems to be done with Galaxy Squad, 2014 might be an off year for space like in 2012, and that would make it a good time to do a Space Troopers CUUSOO set. They can reuse the Galaxy Patrol mold, in dark red, and it would be the first original project to pass review. I think it has a great chance since the others have been 3 science and 2 licensed.
  8. Actually, LEGO Universe was conceived as early as 2003. The exact reason why it closed was most likely a combination of factors; too many delays, subscription based on a previous generation model, poor advertising, no physical product link, shift in games market in general, lack of content, having to buy a CD and a subscription. The good thing is I think TLG learned a lot from that experience, since they did everything from scratch and can apply those lessons in the future. Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of fan backlash and bad PR resulted from the closing. AFOL's are a very small market purchasing CMF and LEGO in general, army building AFOL's even smaller. The CMF line is generalized and cheap enough to appeal to children and adults. Also the majority of AFOL's are not represented on one singular forum/place on the internet.
  9. I do not know why LEGO made that decision, but the sad truth probably is they don't consider those markets viable or large enough to warrant distribution. Something along the lines of the exchange rate and set pricing issue common to countries outside of the US. Maybe something worth discussing in the ambassador forum. Probably because LEGO, despite what fans think, are trying to distance themselves from that failed game and head in an entirely new direction. They tried the more traditional MMO, and it failed, so they are now licensing the game development to a company that specializes in those games. They also did not want to take the big risk of creating an entire new theme with complicated and specialized molds based on LEGO Universe and therefore selected something close theme wise, yet much easier/safer to implement codes with. I wouldn't base popularity on the activity on adult oriented forums, we only represent an extremely small portion of overall LEGO sales.
  10. One other possibility is those could be for TLM, parts of sci-fi/space based sets, maybe even done in a modernized Classic Space style (yellow windshields are part of the iconic color scheme).
  11. Excellent MOC! I really like your portrayal in bricks of the trailer, it captures the desolate feel very well. Christo makes some amazing customs and his Deathstroke is no exception, brilliant. I only hope LEGO can utilize some elements from the game in the sets, I would love to get Batman and Deathstroke as figs.
  12. Well eventually, fan optimism and enthusiasm for the theme will win out. That is until the pictures come and the inevitable DC disappointment.
  13. Apparently this is being included in random LSAH orders in the US.
  14. The Minifigures theme is not on any, past, present or future downfall. The Minifigures theme is among the most popular LEGO themes of all time. They are constantly in the top 25 best sellers daily on LSAH. In addition, Series 10 sold out faster than any previous Series. Locally, I have seen they can be extremely hard to find in stores selling out quickly. The things mentioned previously are improvements to the theme. Eliminating barcodes to level the playing field, or adding Mr. Gold are not valid reasons to claim the Minifigures theme is on a downfall. All the evidence I have seen supports that the Minifigures theme is doing very well, it continues to add new figs we would never have normally gotten. If we don't like a certain direction LEGO is taking with them, whether having a few licensed series, promo figs etc then claiming a downfall because of that disagreement is unnecessary. LEGO is not making a MMO. Funcom has a license to make a LEGO Minifigures MMO. Funcom takes the majority of the investment risk and produces the game as they see fit with some input from LEGO. Basically it is like Lucasfilm trusting that LEGO is the expert in building toys and licensing Star Wars to them. Combining a physical product with a digital one is a brilliant move, one that if done with LEGO Universe could have been a real success back in 2010. LEGO got a lot of fan backlash and bad PR from closing LEGO Universe after only 16 months. The new game by Funcom is essentially the replacement, hence they picked the closest theme to LEGO Universe. I would not be worried at all about Series 14 from what I have read and heard it will feature some really awesome minifigs all based on core LEGO themes like castle, pirates, space and so on. They didn't decide to make an MMO out of desperation to save a theme, it is being made because there is a demand for it.
  15. What if there is no Nightwing, and Batgirl is in the Man-bat set and Green Lantern is in the steam roller set? But if there is, then yes, I think he will be based on the New 52 as LEGO likes to use new designs whenever possible.
  16. Batgirl looks great, I hope her cape is two colors (yellow on inside, black on outside). The yellow head Batman is really odd. I don't think it is a prototype. It could be the wrong head on the fig placed on accidentally. I also don't think it is for the new Junior or TLM sets.
  17. What I am hoping would happen, would be for them to lump random other characters in, whether they appeared in the film or not. It would be one of those loosely inspired by the film, but featuring other comic characters. It would not be the first time a superheroes set had something like that either, featuring multiple continuities. That opens up a whole realm of possibilities for minifigs. Also if they wait until 2015, like I think they will, they can include all the new designs from the new movie. A Helicarrier can also work as a generic platform. It could be like a SW capital ship in size, open up with features on the inside and be a nice stand alone model on the outside. Ideally they could also lump more obscure heroes in this set too. These are really the best chances to get Fantastic Four, and others we normally wouldn't have. The next D2C DC set will probably be a Justice League HQ.
  18. They might be doing a 2 year cycle to avoid flooding the market. I think we will probably see a Marvel D2C in 2015, perfect timing for the Avengers sequel, maybe that is what they are saving a Stark Tower or Helicarrier set for.
  19. A lot of times, the images can be small, blurry, preliminary, missing figures, substituted figures, and the like. When these images used to get leaked in the past, it was not 100% clear what was included and what was missing. As an example, the preliminary leak for 7787 had a whole little base for Riddler and Bane, the actual set was just a gate. Set 6210 had a Cloud City Boba Fett, Chewbacca and C-3PO pictured. That is probably why it is a good thing, that the first public image of a set is usually the final production image, to avoid failed expectation and disappointment.
  20. I would have to vote for generic as well. Having a named knight or king is alright once in awhile, but I tend to prefer the castle themes that have several factions and follow some continuity (not necessarily a defined storyline). This would fulfill the need for diversity. Also distinct unnamed knights are fine like the gold knight from the Fantasy era, which is one of my favorites. I did hope for Kingdoms to continue with the new Black Falcons and even Forestmen, as a neutral faction. I think civilian and neutral factions are key in a castle theme or any historical theme.
  21. Actually that poster is Pirate world. This is Castle world. Lot's of nice designs in that picture. Funcom said they used LDD for every LEGO model in the game, so if you have the parts you can also make them. It would be really nice if they made the LXF files available, but I doubt that. Not much has been shown for each world, but I expect a lot of LEGO models. The second part is both correct and incorrect, it is based on the series Minifigures theme yes, but they will integrate it with the physical product: Funcom also revealed at Gamescon, a future series next year (probably 14) will feature new minifigs designed specifically for the game. They said their art dept. worked closely with the LEGO design team to create the minifigs in that series. Also, the plan is when a new series is released, codes will be included to use in game. So, I am expecting a few new castle type figs in S14. I agree, LOTR and Hobbit sets have great designs, some of the best I have seen in years, I hope they migrate back to traditional Castle when the theme ends. I tend to think they worked on Kingdoms prior to LOTR.
  22. I think there is a good chance, there are 155 playable characters not including DLC ones.
  23. In case anyone is curious, here are the designs for Star-Lord (in the game): Winter Soldier: Winter Soldier looks like his mask could also double for a new Nightwing fig.
  24. I hope the Green Lantern rumor is true, that would be fantastic. Either in one of the known sets or maybe a new retailer exclusive. 9 Marvel sets and 4 DC have been mentioned, which makes 13, 1 more than usual, making up for only 11 this year?
  25. Great MOC, I love all the little details. It captures a real vivarium nicely.
