Future Set Wishes and Speculation
TBS replied to SheepEater's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAs the (my) wishes for a cement mixer for years has been heard by now, i am very happy to mod it once available. The one thing i am wishing in future is an orange refuse-truck (european style) in a similar size. Maybe shaped like the 8109 Flatbed truck. I also liked the current Car Transporter, it´s a nice and neat idea. Thumbs up on this one too. Another unusual, never seen before idea, might be an amphibic truck.

42113 Replacement Set Petition
I consider this too. And i think they will never touch this plane again as well - because there is no civil version, as no civil organisation can afford and maintain such a plane for their works. No matter how many people are rescued by the current version out of whatever situations. I suppose, they want us to forget about this very quickly, and to move on. I also woudn´t wonder if they burn all the boxes and instructions, and recycle all the parts in the bags.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
TBS replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHe was originally replying to this. "Just received this news from Lego. Shops with stocks can go ahead and sell the sets they have BUT stocks will not be replenish." That´s what the Kudos were for... :-) "Kudos to LEGO for their decision." It seems in Germany, all 42113 Sets were neither delivered, or if, are forced to have them sent back. All my retail-dealers have canceled my reserved stock which i basically pre-ordered there, most said they don´t even get it at first hand. The item is not listed in their software-solutions any longer, i.e. since 2 weeks. Then it was on the mainstream and alternative news here everywhere, !!! so those (if) who might have got it already, surely keep it for themselves (or for ebay XD ) In other parts of the world, they might be a little more lazy with this, but here they want to back down to this society.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
TBS replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes, Other Afols had good experience with spray painting parts (used black giant wheels made dark gray for a 10030 STD rebrick). So i guess it´s worth a try with the lime propellers too. Not sure if i get the tapered panels right, but at least they are cheap in white or yellow. Also will be PF instead of PU. Yes, that would be fantastic. Thanks a lot in adavance. :-)

42113 Reconstruction Guide
TBS replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMost likely, all the dark-bluish gray parts are available in white too. You will have a paramedic plane or a fire plane then. But i guess for the "activists" this is as disgraceful than the rescue one, too... Stickersheet-scan ??

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
TBS replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLet´s hope then, every pilot of this a few dozen of machines remembers this at an emergency site, like a volcano eruption, flood, firestorm or let´s say an earthquake. So these - "activists" - can sink into the ground heroically and never have to experience such a shameful resque with this terrible abdominal type of plane.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
TBS replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYeah, let´s see what comes out of it. All Offline retail stores around canceled my pre-orders. There is just one left, who (hopefully) get´s its stock of 3 ! a few days later. To me it´s incredible that lego gave way to a society with supposedly little hundreds of members and a demonstration of 2 !, again, TWO people in front of a LEGO Store in Germany. These times are pure madness.

Technic 2014 Discussion and Speculation
Really nice find.. Dreamed of them too, long ago... that´s absolutely fabolous... Spotted 2 of them on 5 "chima racers" Sets. Mechanicly i´d like to agree its really a pin with hole combination of this part: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=87082 , Its the only way these sets makes sense in a playful way, because these racers have to be sent through / over an obstacle course or fetch items with clapping hands. This wouldn´t work if it were an axle end instead of a pin end. In black its also usable everywhere. Awesome, i am really looking forward to this part.

Technic 2014 Discussion and Speculation
Happy new year everyone, just found some Info on the 2H14 sets on the hungarian site where member CM4S found the new trains too. there is two sets as of yet: http://www.legomarkabolt.hu/index.php?oldal=katalogus&by=csoport&cs=60&n=42029 Set-Number: 42029 Name: some kind of "small" truck (google says...) Can anyone take more information out of the hungarian site? natives anyone?

Technic 2014 Discussion and Speculation
thats very likely priced 10-20% too high, probably because of "brand new and right now" .. IMHO, the retail prices will most likely be inline with the ones of the past... Meaning 10, 15, 20, 30, euro´s and so on. ;) For the US its 20% off + €/$ since there is no VAT. For the second wave, i wish there would be an RC-Receiver and RC-Remote, in my eyes thats more usefull than a new version of the existing bulky all-in-one-box. These PF-solenoid valves would also be a major breakthrough and great to have part.

Technic 2014 Discussion and Speculation
Thx for the Pics... some things i noticed.. we get 13L liftarms in Lime, in the snowmobile... really cool set... i also noticed that part no. 44 comes in blue now in the 42023 construction crew. If you compare the pix to the prelim ones this set went trough a massive redone (to the worse IMHO), all the blue panels are gone on the truck. The excavator lost its red ones too. His base is redone very well. Also the parts no. 32184 in yellow on the loader cab is gone. This would have been highly appreciated after ~10 years out of production. We also get the new tires in 3 sets 42022,42023,and 42024 now, which is great. The blue micropanels taken out on the 42023 dumper, reappear in the freight plane on the wings ends. A really cool set to me too, i bet it´ll feature 3 large stickers sheets and an award for most stickers parts in a set, but i also can understand the designers because there is a lot of volume to be "painted". The second color of the 42027 has been switched from DBG to Black, so no new connectors #2 in DBG. My most favourite, the 42023 dumper, has been crippled to the bone, but the other sets have grown on me so far. Tom

Lego Technic 2h 2013
I am not so sure about that. The last Supercar 8070 has just gone off the shelves and EOL. It also has been seriously discounted for a longer time, which might have been due to lacking or less than estimated demand. I´ve rarely seen a technic set going at almost 50% below retail in the last 4 years. So i think there is more time to pass. What i would really like to see is these in Technic, as Flagships or 42008 size. Please dont forget to include 15 to 20 Orange 5x11 Panels all along... A great MOC is this one: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=493478 I also consider a cement-mixer something which is unseen and special. More Blue and White should also be always welcomed by the Technicans, i guess. Pics provided from: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/ What do you think of such Sets?

Best B-Models of Technic Sets?
Here is some of my favs. 8256 B-Model, a lawnmower, really funny statement from the Lego-Designers. Also a uncommon find is the streetsweeper of Set 8415. The tiny Tractor is also cool, i think, the designer stated that its construction from the limited partsupply was a challenge. B-Model of 8048. As mentioned above the alternate 8049 is great, too. Last but not least, here is the real hottie.. 8070 - B. From my point of view it could have been an A-Model too. The harbour crane of 8053 is also i really uncommon and nice idea. But it missing/restricted parts were a bit of letdown in design to me. Pics borrowed from: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/lego_technic.php - Thanks. All the best Tom

Finding Parts for Technic MOCs
TBS replied to Blakbird's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThats hard to figure out what TLC is meaning with licensed, i.e. not available. In some regions all is available, in some not. see orange panels. So the questions is, does Not available mean: All the parts exclusive to 8110 and within the last 5 years, or does it mean just the orange panels ??? We in Germany might get big cylinders also via the 8049 set. I didnt order the small cylinders because they come back in 42008 in august, so i wasnt able to get an possible refuse message by TLC. Maybe one in the restricted area did and knows more? This depends on your part selection and quantity, which is different all the times. Also on the point if you take out all the parts from a seller, within 2-3 orders, which i described in my first post of this thread. Yes, this is a serious challenge for the sellers in niche-markets, like technic. For the bulk sellers, its no problem, because they go on quantity not variety of parts. Furthermore if you look at the BL Whales they part-out everything. One thing special to Technic is the mixture of parts. While system sets have parts which medium prices are way above 10 cents, its completely different with technic. Here you can almost write off half off the parts of a set, namely pins and axles. Gears have to be written off by half. This way the only parts left to earn your daily bread is the rest. Therefore the rare parts might be similar to LD or higher. We have to live from something. TLC just takes the parts out of their shelves and that´s it. They don´t care for the median price too, and are able to sell rare new parts reasonably priced. On the other side TLC charges 7 cent for a single pin, while i sell them at 0.7 cents ! This goes for all the pins and axles... I sold the previous version of your mentioned gear at 5 cent instead of 14 at TLC. So it all depends on what is worth parting out. For example: Even the rare parts of 42006 are cheap at BL now, because 300-400 were parted out worldwide. The grabbing parts which is 2.23€ at TLC goes below 2 on BL. I bought some for 80 cents there recently. The Tyres from the Motocross-Bike are also below TLC now. With your new 8 tooth gear it doesnt work at all, and here is why: They are only available in 3 Sets by now 42010, 42011, and 2 in 42004. All of these Sets are not worthy to part out. Therefore they are rather rare and expensive on BL. At high part-prices, their part-out value is below retail prices. You need to spend a lot of time and effort to get less money back than a retailer who just put them on the shelfs. When it comes to marketable prices its even worse, they all are close or below to the sellers purchase price in the eye of part out value. Basically, you need to prop up about 1500€ to buy 100 of them, get back equal or less when ALL the parts are sold, and among those there is just 100 ! of these gears going for 14 euro at TLC or about 40 on BL. You can´t justiy to buy these for your shop, and the parts in it will be on short-supply on BL if not included in other sets too. This is the special case were TLC is unbeatable. Sooner or later these parts are included in 42009, 42008, or what have you, and their prices will go at or below TLC- Levels. Comparing TLC and BL is worth a try then when it comes to quantity and brandnew special parts. CU Tom.

Opinions sought - best current Technic sets to break for parts?
TBS replied to BooTheMightyHamster's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingSome more thoughts that came into my mind. If you are into motorbikes get one of set: 42007 for long "motorcycle"-shockabsorbers, more chainlinks, and motocross tyres. Racingbike tyres: i would purchase 2 extra from Bricklink (BL) , they were available 2010 with set 8051, but luckily they are available again in the ninjago set "ultra sonic raider" This one is EOL and heavily discounted in my area. As i spotted last month an US-Seller partet out 300 of them, but its 600 wheels were sold immediatly. So grab 2 for you as long they are rather cheap... When it comes to excavators, i am inbalanced what to advise. there is 2 ways: if you want a great building experience and fun play try to get yourself an used 8043. There you have besides the above, many motors, actuators, tread links and parts. I consider your retailer already sold them out for months, so a new one might be hard to get, at discounted prices. Its price has risen from 140€ in october/november 2012 to 200€ now for a new misb-set on the german market. If you´re in just for the parts, i would rather go for 42006. Just the treadlinks and sprocket wheels should be buyable at BL for around 12€ In the end it all depends on how much money sensitive you are ;-) For cars there are 2 sets you wont come around. 8070: features the old steering parts, motor and battery box, as well as tons of parts. I bought some december 27th for 67€ they are at 100€ now and 120 Retail (germany), So if your shop has them, grab one. The steering parts alone are available for 15€ or so. 42000: is also a great set partswise. They have the new steering parts. The only thing which might be "not so good" in your special case, it features a lot of white parts. For me this is great, but as from the parts variation in the posts above you might be better of with more of the standard colors. Alternatively, you can buy only the steering parts, after some time the set has been parted out by more than one seller. One thing i can´t tell you is, which steering system is better. I have heard both. If i remind correctly, there is some kind of review here at eurobricks. Please also takes care of you boxes. This is very important when it comes to resale. And sets with boxes are always more valueable because you have the buyers on your side which insist on it. A possible bider/buyer who doesn´t care about the box can go for with box or without, but a buyer who insists on the box can not. So you increase your pool of buyers with box widely. Not to mention the achievable prices. If you open the box, do not pull on the round end which is actually supposed to do so. Take a sharp knife and cut the box on the end vertical and carefully. This way you don´t destroy the box. Building instructions are available on BL as printed or by download here: http://service.lego....nginstructions/ I don´t like the pdf´s for their low resolution / color differences, i.e. qualitiy but you might go with it. After all... try to get known to BL, check LD for special cases, and groove into this site: http://rebrickable.com/ register and insert all your sets here. Then you be able to get yourself a list which parts exactly you are missing to build another lego set or moc. This is a great site. you should definatly take a look. If i forgot to add anything more, just ask, from my point of view i covered the most important sets and aspects of starting with LEGO Technic. You´ll find a lot of help here, once you started.. ;-) By for now. Tom.

Opinions sought - best current Technic sets to break for parts?
TBS replied to BooTheMightyHamster's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHi Boo, some ideas / advice from me. Think through them, whats more interesting to you. Don´t bother about value or something... If you don´t like to build with LEGO Technic anymore at all, then repack the sets and sell it used. Of course you need to tread the parts very good for the above case, but i don´t have to mention this, do i? Congrats, you´re working for a retailer, so your discounts are very good. Lets say your almost treaded like a seller. Here is the sets: 9391 for small treadlinks, crane arm and a view gears. 9392 for small steering parts, shockabsorbers and chainlinks. 9396 for a huge bunch of parts red and yellow, panels, mini actuators and propellers. (this sets is quite a lot disounted in germany, and its rumored thats EOL already.) 9397 for lots of liftarms in all colors, medium steering parts, truckwheels, battery box, motors and actuators. 8110, you should hurry here because its also rumored EOL, with this you get a complete pneumatic arangement, compressor, big steering parts, panels and tons of parts as well as huge wheels. 9398 for infrared pf-stuff, different motors, gears, huge offroadwheels, and all other parts. with those sets you have covered a very broad range of parts, if not to say almost all. (except from a colors point of view.) What sets feel more like you, you will have to decide yourself. You could start with smaller sets, and then go on, but i wouldn´t wait to long in case of the Unimog- 8110 . By the way, EOL means end of life or end of line, i heard both versions, but they all mean the product cycle is over - production stopped. For everything else in terms of parts you need, after you got on track with Technic, consider Bricklink or in special cases Lego Direct as Option. cu Tom

Finding Parts for Technic MOCs
TBS replied to Blakbird's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingorange panels, this happened to me too.. :-( . For the pneumatic-cylinders. thats right, but i think you do not get the small ones as these are out of licensed 8110 too. The last non licensed sets including this piece were from the late 90´s. so not in LD anymore. Here is wath i have seen. -new LBG comprocessor has no price. i.e. not available. -old yellow 5.5L compressoer is more than 8€ on LD, around 4-5 on BL -valves are 3.80€ at LD while around 1.50 on BL -big cylinders (out of 8049), are cheaper with 5.50 euro instead of around 6-7€ (If you need extra shipping for those, paying a bit more on BL might work too in the end) -blue pneu-connectors are cheaper too. -pneumatic pump are more expensive, can´t remind the price anymore, but it was in the 7-8 euro area instead of 4€ -Airtanks.. haven´t been checked by me... but boy, i should... Before i did my research i was really excited about LD, but it just can not compete with BL in most times from my point of view. CU @Francisco - REPLY HERE - don´t know why its not possible to do so in a new comment :-/ No, i think you misunderstood how BL works. If you are logged in, you get shown the NET-Prices all along as your shipping location ia assumed Swiss. The Vat will be not shown to you, or literally removed before you selct a shop. Of course this is not the case with stores which are not subject to VAT aka "Hobby or pure used-items"-Sellers. If i am right, the Vat is also reduced for you in the price guide. So for sellers there is no possibilty to charge you Vat you are not subject too. Ok, yes this has to be considered. But you can be lucky the Swiss are not in the EU, even if IBAN is free of charge here. ;-) Furthermore Paypal is fee-free with many sellers on BL. Agreed. :-)

Finding Parts for Technic MOCs
TBS replied to Blakbird's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingmaybe possible, yes. this is not quite true, when you live in switzerland as your avatar suggests you don´t need to pay 19% vat. Its automaticly reduced by the bricklink system. shipping starts at 3.45 euro in germany. If your order is below 50 euro, you neither have to pay customs or import-VAT-tax in switzerland as a costumer of me told me. This might be an expensive mistake, or only valid in your special case with that one order. I did a lot of market research recently, which was quite interesting. On normal orders placed by the hundred, LEGO Direct (LD) is AT LEAST 100% to 300% more expensive than Bricklink. Often there are cases, where i can compare on invoicing, my amount 13 euro while LD would be charging 35 euro or something. So this is saving the people a lot of money, if they (w)could only learn how BL works. I write at least, because, items not deliverable anymore by LD, are not even took in to account. Here is what i found is a no-go with LD: (no guarentee - particular items may vary.) pneumatic hoses: ridicolous. i´ve seen one at 21€ ! while BL is at 1€ Liftarms: BL starts at 3-4 cent, while the cheapest of LD is at 8-13 cent. Axles: except special ones 2-3 times the BL level. Pins: same here. Connectors: also more expensive, some cheaper. Tires and Rims: No go also, BL 1€ - LD 2-3€ Shock Absorber: more expensive than BL Steering: partially cheaper than BL, some not. Gears: prIced higher. Items which are 5 cent BL, are 15 to 20 at LD, some are equal. Softaxles: also quite expensive @ LD Technic-Bricks: same here. Panels: partially cheaper, partially more expensive... depends on item. Big parts: like Backhoe shovels, also more expensive. 1€ at BL, 4 at LD. Electric things: also not to good. A 4€ Batterybox is 13.15€ at LD... So LD might work good, on special orders, but not on orders which are most common. Question from above.. why are the prices off the Picture cheaper than in shop. ? Thats because In switzerland were the screenshot had been taken, the is no 19% vat applied. (If you add them, you come to the shop-prices shown within the EU.) Does anyone here get parts from set 8110 delivered ??? orange panels anyone? Please tell me. Its forbidden in Germany, so we dont get special items out of this set here.. nice weekend to ya. Tom
