  1. I'd rather have slightly more pricey figures and have figures i can put in my main collection then figures sitting in my curio. I would mix them w/ my main figures but I'm to worried about the "Collectible" figures getting damaged(I am NOT rough w/ legos if your wondering). And outside of the printing plates, I can't see why the major parts(head, torso, and legs) can't be made of GOOD plastic. Except for the printing stage, the parts are the exact same as normal figures. I used to wonder why I've lost all respect and nearly all interest in TLG lately(mainly interested in creator and city only but that interest is shrinking fast) but now I realize that it's crap like this that has killed this ex lego fans love. price issues and lack of girl figures/girl color are close behind. I don't want a pink-a-plooza in my lego collection(i'm a female that's more of a tomboy), but i'd like SOME variety of color in my collection. Except for the fact that A) a couple cousins are coming over and one loves to build lego w/ me and B) i don't feel like rolling my cart back into my room, I'd be storing the cart w/ lego in my room.
  2. "I'm just going to jump into this conversation and ask, am I the only one that's just really not impressed with any of the minifigs from this Series? I mean every series up to this I've seen one or two that I genuinely want but this one I see no point in spending any money on. I don't know maybe it's just me." You're not the only one. Except for the fact that I would like the snowboarder to go w/ the girl I have, I'm not interested in the figures made of chinese crap-stic anymore except for the mexican wrestler b/c I'm a Reasonably clever comic fan and I love El Stud. I have gotten some series 2 and 3 figures from ebay, 3 series 3 off lego, 2 more series 3 from the lego store, 3 series 4 from Lego store, and a clown and magican series 1 from the BAM bin at the lego store amd a cheerleader head and hair and what I see is that the quality is a very hit or miss thing. My mother and I are both strongly against Chinese made lego. You can't imagine our horror a couple days ago when we saw on the label that the keychain hagrid mom got last month(we only managed to stop a couple days ago to look at it)was a made in china thing. At this current time, I actually have the Clown and magican I got from the bam bin and the cheerleader head and hair(on the mermaid body I got there) sitting sad and lonely by themselves in the package I brought them home in b/c I don't know what to do with them. On one hand, I really want to have them join the Minifigure bin I have in my rolling cart, but on the other hand, I don't know if the figures can even handle gentle play w/ them being of hit or miss crap-stic Lego either needs to cancel the "Collectable" figures or make them of NORMAL GOOD ABS plastic.
  3. OMG! I am so jealous of that room! I'm willing to bet that if christopher doyle of Reasonably clever is looking at this, he's just drooling over the massive amount of storage and display. As far as my storage method, I posted a few pages back but I need to update the list since I reorganized a couple drawers in my organizer and my cart has been changed up a bit. The stray lego minifigs I have in different containers are finally being corraled into one container. Let's hope they don't start multiplying on me or I may have to seperate the girls and boys XD
  4. Here's my haul from the large cup I got mid last month(just now stopped to do it w/ mom). 2 - Angle Plate 1X2/1X4 white 4 - 2X2 white brick 5 - 1X4 orange brick 1 - 2X4 red brick 7 - 1X6 red brick 4 - 2X2 axles 8 - 1X1X5 white bricks 15 - 1X1X2 yellow bricks 29 - 1X1 Orange stud 3 - 2X6 Dark gray brick 1 - Clear white stud 2 - 1X1 Clear slope 1 - 2X6 light gray brick 9 - 1X1 white brick w/ eye print 101 - 1X1 blue aqua stud(Don't know how I got that many!) 1 - 1X1 red tile 9 - 1X1 red stud 8 each - rims and tires 19 - 1X1 orange clear slope 33 - Yellow 1X1 stud 8 - 2X6 brown plate 17 - 1X4 green 81 - 1X1 green plate 14 - 1X2 pink slop brick 8 - 2X4 orange 23 - 1X2 light blue 7 - 1X2 yellow 3 - 2X2 lime green brick 34 - 1X2 grey w/ grooves 11 - 2X4 lime green brick 22 - 2X4 tan if the math is right, that's a total of 498 pieces at .03 cents per piece. I could of fit a little more in, but taking into account mom and I weren't feeling 100% on the trip(long story short, lost a relative). However, it's a lot better then I thought plus I stacked most of the 2X4's into a kinda circle shape w/ some of the 1X2's and pink slope to make a circle to go last in the bottom of the container so i'm improving my stacking skills.
  5. I'm not going for it. 100 bucks for the year is way to much. and I just checked out the images. most of the sets look like they're the ones that would make the total value about maybe 50 bucks(PUSHING IT!). Half the sets appear to be made out of mostly really small pieces(lots of pieces that = tiny model) and the others seem to be about the same size of the models that sell for about 7 or 8 dollars(about half of what the Price per set is) And plus I'm not into ordering from lego.com. I'd have to either do a check via mail or get a greendot card. I can't believe lego has the price 2.5 higher then the old Brickmaster. Way to go lego, you've offical lost the remaining shred of respect that I had for you.
  6. "Ok you need to get a system down. First thing you want to do is feel out the obvious parts. Legs, torso, figure stand plate, and head. All sets have that. So dont waste your time too long feeling those in the bag. The next thing is to find something unique. Surfer girl is the easiest. Her surfboard is HUGE. It is long and flat. No other figure in series 4 has anything like that. Artist, feel for small items like the paint brush or I prefer to look for the painters palate. Werewolf is harder. I look for the bone to be absolutely sure. Sometimes hair pieces can feel the same. So i dont waste my time on feeling hair." I did try to find the unique parts. All i could feel as far as obvious were kinda flat stuff(no clue what it was) or some sort of part that I couldn't id what is was or even a few cases of finding the head or torso. Honestly, if it wouldn't of been for the guy helping me, I woulda turned to eBay instead. I didn't have a ton of time in the store and I wanted to invest my time in the PAB and BAM bin instead.
  7. Ah, I see what u mean. And the bins vary by store. How much or little has to go w/ how fast things sell out and rotate.
  8. May be a good idea to change the title. And can someone post an image? I don't really remember the last time I got a set w/ the flame piece, not counting the fireplace in the 2010 advent. And there was fire in the PAB? the wall or the BAM bin? I was just at one about 5 days ago but I didn't see any at that store. There were series 1 parts in the BAM bin and hero factory(about 6 bins) parts on the wall(no joke) but I didn't see flames. Though maybe if they were in the BAM section, I just didn't see them. I choose a hat for the 5th piece instead of an accessory.
  9. I got pretty lucky while at the lego store In the BAM bin, I found parts for clowns and magicians and even some cheerleader(no signs of the body for the cheerleader). here's what I got from the bin: PAB minifigure bin - one lego series 1 clown w/ a blue hat for the 5th piece, one lego series 1 magican w/ top hat for 5th piece, and a mermaid tail and top w/ a Cheerleader series 1 head and hair and a forestman hat(minus feather) for the 5th piece. Plus I was really lucky mom was there b/c she was the one who spied the tail and helped me find the very last pair of black pants and I think even the top. Then I also got lucky w/ getting 3 lego series 4 figures(Artist, Werewolf, and surfer girl). All I can say about the store is WOW. I was trying to locate any of those 3 by the feel method. Except for what I assume was the kimono girl dress bottom, I couldn't tell one thing from the other. The man working there saw me having trouble and he helped. He pulled out a big handfull and found all 3 like it was nothing. I wasn't sure if it was right until yesterday morning when I opened but it did turn out he was 3 for 3 O_O
  10. Here's what I got yesterday: PAB minifigure bin - one lego series 1 clown w/ a blue hat for the 5th piece, one lego series 1 magican w/ top hat for 5th piece, and a mermaid tail and top w/ a Cheerleader series 1 head and hair and a forestman hat(minus feather) for the 5th piece One lego Cup(large) 3 lego series 4 figures(Artist, Werewolf, and surfer girl). I wasn't sure if it was right until this morning when I opened but he was 3 for 3. Then I decided to go for a couple random series 3. I got a sumo wrestler and a tennis gal. And I finished off w/ one lego easter basket. Mom also gave me the money to pick up a hagrid key chain for her.
  11. I have issues w/ Chinese pieces. I have some series 2 and 3 "Collectible" Minifigures. The quality of them is medicore and I can't stand it. Why is lego being so cheap? I WAS hoping for quality on par w/ my other figures and the CF ones could be ones i would add in to my collection. Honestly, if Lego will be turning to the more compents made in China side, I think my days of a lego lover are over. I'm not against chinese made stuff, but I see no legit reason for lego to be taking the Chinese crap-stic route. Plus after seeing the way prices are jumping the the prices are getting ridicilous, I don't really like lego anymore. Plus the quality overall(Chinese plastic or not) w/ product design is getting worse. The right side of the Exploration HQ model(the 2X10 plate and a 1X2 w/ 2 technic holes) have seperated more then ones. That is from very little post build play w/ the model(Mainly only opening and closing it VERY carefully or putting in a storage container. I do want to travel w/ it on our micro vacation(leaving tomorrow), but I'm worried that something will go wrong. I'll just have to carefully put lego in around it and hope for the best. And if stuff like the head gear is chinese made, that would explain why the blue head gear doesn't seem to be made of a good quality material and why the ring seems to have a haunting feeling of something not right w/ it.
  12. I really can't stand lego doing Chinese made plastic. The quality of a lego product can really drop as a result. I picked up a lego alantis exploration HQ on clearance for 15 dollars(MSRP 50). While in the store, to my horror, I found on the "pieces come from" list that some components were made in china. If it wouldn't be for the interesting set and great discount(a little less then 1/3 of the MSRP) as a result of the clearence aisle at WM, I would of probably skipped it after seeing China on the list. I tried putting the chinese made part in the back of my mind, but after seeing it fully assembled, i can see that a couple parts, mainly the red pieces that make up the top and one of the longer grey plates don't seem to hook up right to other pieces. I really don't know if it's just a result of chinese parts(what ever the chinese parts are) or a problem w/ the way the model is built(i mean by the way lego designed it to be built). However, the ultimate test to see if the model is sturdy or not will come this weekend. It'll be traveling w/ me in a container(Sterelite show-offs container, brand new) tomorrow.
  13. While out shopping w/ my mom at walmart, I found a lego Alantis Exploration HQ(8077) on sale for 15 dollars! Orginal price 50 bucks! I'm building it now. I'm about to start step 20 on book 2. EDIT: Well, I just finished it and all I can say is WOW! The set was worth every penny.
  14. I think I have a good one: While out shopping w/ my mom at walmart, I found a lego Alantis Exploration HQ(8077) on sale for 15 dollars! Orginal price 50 bucks! I'm building it now. I'm about to start step 20 on book 2.
  15. *checks article and passes out* 75 bucks? YIKES! I'm NOT going for that offer. Last time I went, I only dropped about 45 bucks including a PAB large cup.
