Four playsets based on the classic trilogy are slated to launch in January 2008. Three sets based on iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark include: Temple Escape ($49.99 USD) which brings the legendary rolling boulder scene to life in LEGO form as Indy faces spiders and poisoned darts in his search for the Golden Idol of Fertility. With Race for the Stolen Treasure ($29.99 USD), kids build two desert vehicles and recreate Indy's truck-hopping fight to save the treasure. Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb ($19.99 USD) recreates the eye-popping suspense of Indy rescuing Marion from slithering snakes in an Egyptian tomb. And based on Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade action, Motorcycle Chase ($9.99 USD) depicts the scene where Indy and his father escape with the map to the hidden temple. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070618/aqm129.html?.v=6

Thanks. I missed that. That is the price I pay for skimming too fast!
  3. Chrome plated, painted, blessed by the holy George Lucas, why should it matter? Lego? Collectables? A true fan needs not these things to prove his worth. All that is needed is what matters to the fan. If this is what you need then go buy one. I don't need one, and most here don't either. Why would I be scared to touch it? The chrome plating wears off. If I spent $300 on a bit of painted plastic I would never touch it. What you do is you business.

Sorry to be a smarty pants, but are you sure? http://www.peeron.com/scans/398-1/9/ It is good to know that I am not the only one!
  5. So you are saying that a 3 year old kid who had one of these magic C3POs is more of a Star Wars fan than someone had every other bit of Star Wars merchandise and could quote all six movies plus owned the original draft of Star Wars? Don't you think that would be a bit silly? Face facts; owning this or any other bit of Star Wars merchandise is little to do with being a true Star Wars fan. It is a painted bit of plastic, no more. True, but not enough to spend enough to buy several large Star Wars sets just for one painted bit of plastic that you would be too scared to touch. Buy some paint and do it youself if it matters that much to you. I plan to buy the MTT and maybe the HyperSpace ring instead.
  6. Quite easily. I have a friend who buys the occasional Star Wars Lego set (he owns the Death Star, the UCS X-Wing, the Sail Barge and many more), but he spends most of his Star Wars money (which is most of his money) on the Star Wars minitures as he plays the game a lot. He buys a lot of these for silly prices on eBay and he also buys most of the normal Star Wars figures. (Especially clones-if he sees one with a slightly different paint job he will buy it.) He is also one of those people who refuses to open them. He is making a fan film, and went to Star Wars 3 in costume. He has been a Star Wars fan for years, as well as a Lego fan. Yet he has no intention of buying a Gold C3PO. Why should he? They aren't really that special (same mold, different paint) to pay 300 USD for.

Gladly. http://www.peeron.com/scans/375-2/18 Step 3 of making the horses. The gap between two studs is smaller than the width of a plate and it will deform the piece given time. I am not sure if Lego do this in any other set, but I used to.
  8. Victory is certain then! Lord Admiral will regret the way he treated us after the battle of Port Hobart. Our vengance is at hand. One question; who gets his toy soldiers? I have always wanted them.

I have disliked many of the changes in the past. When Lego first started doing different heads, I was shocked and disapointed as I felt that it reduced the ability to use heads for whatever characted as you wanted. But that was during my Dark Ages so it seemed to me at the time another good reason to stop buying Lego. However, I feel this way as it is what I grew up with. (As tedbeard highlights, if I started five years earlier I may have disliked Minifigs with arms. I doubt it though!) Over time my opinion changed but I do find it interesting that many of the sets that I saw at the time as sacrilege (for example most of the pirate sets) are now seen as classics. But that is what is best about Lego. You can like some aspects of it and dislike others and it doesn't really matter. I do like most of the new city sets though, although I do semi-regret buying the 7893 plane; it is a bit too big and the nose, tail and wings are hard to re-use.
  10. I am readying my troops at this very moment. I will attack from the sea.
  11. Darn. There are still none of the new sets in Hobart (Tasmania) yet. I was forced to buy the AquaBase instead last week. Poor me...

I inherited a few semi-complete Paradisa sets from a friend. I think they were a excellent line, but at the time I wasn't buying any Lego. The catalogs always had great displays with them too.
  13. Excellent work. Makes me jealous though - I still haven't got any short legs yet. Perhaps its time for another Bricklink order...
  14. It is an excellent issue, especially the features on Market Street, even though it is saddened by the news. (I don't know the details of his illness so I will make no further comment on his death.) On a positive note, I am very excited about the new RC power control system that will be in the Bulldozer, Ferris Wheel and the Godzilla. I am still a bit unclear about how the new connectors work, but I am glad to hear that they are compatible with the old motors. September On!
  15. My apoligies. I thought that this was the correct section for a discussion on the Lego site.
  16. That never occured to me, and I have never noticed any price change myself. I hope that the MTT doesn't go any higher as $180 AUD is high enough. Have you ever noticed a set go lower? Yes, I noticed that but forgot to mention it. Thanks for your thoughts and comments! I hope so. I am in Australia (sitting on a chair) and the last new sets that I have seen here were the Aqua Raiders and new Creator sets. I am still waiting for the new City sets.
  17. Lately I have noticed some odd flaws at shop.lego.com. For example; 1. Yesterday the MTT was frontpaged with the new Harry Potter castle, but when I clicked on it all that was shown was an error page. It was changed a few hours later. 2. When the Death Star was half price is went from "Sale" to "Sold" to removed to "Sale" and then back to normal. 3. When I bought something that was on sale I missed out on buying it as it sold out, even though it wasn't marked as "call us" until two days after I bought it. (They did apoligise for this and happily changed my order when I complained; they even upgraded my shipping.) 4. The MTT appeared on the site for many countries a few weeks ago and then vanished the next day, and to the best of my knowledge it still isn't avalible on the site for any countries. Does anyone know why this happens, and why it seems (to me) to be common? Do you think they are just trying to tease me? (I really am looking forward to the MTT!)

I would (and will) go for the MX-71 Recon Dropship #: 7692. Why? I really don't like those tracks. They are always too stiff. (I have the escavator and the Exo-Force tank.) It also has one of those annoying disc launchers. The only part not in 7692 and is in 7697 that I find especially compelling is the cockpit. I recomend downloading the instructions from here... http://www.br-eng.info/words/?page_id=29 That always helps me.
  19. Hitomi. I don't like that set, but I want it now because of her.
  20. While I agree with the attitude, I can't say that I think this argument will persuade many. For one, simply look at the comments on the Break.com. But also, the argument of "The oil and coal will run out one day so we need to look now for other solutions", which is completly un-debatable, fails to persuade people that new solutions are needed. Too many people think "This will happen in 100 years or more, if ever, so who cares?", or worse still mention the G word. (That is god.) Until people are sure that this will affect them persanally and soon, nothing will change.
  21. It is available now! http://shop.lego.com/Product/Default.aspx?p=10190 $130 AUD, 90 Euro, but it doesn't seem to be available in the US yet. It has a better piece/price ratio in AUD than Cafe Corner. I might even buy this one...
  22. Unlikely. As I am sure you know Australia and New Zealand gets the shortest end of the stick. (Just look at the price we have to pay for the Sandcrawler and the Falcon.)
  23. I think that $500 would be a good start, but to be honest, if I made something that large I wouldn't sell it for $1000, irregardless of the price to replace the bricks. Those MOCs would have around 2000 pieces in them. Additionally, they may already have been recycled... Why can't you just make one youself using Bricklink?
  24. Siegfried replied to SuvieD's post in a topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow! That is a huge co-incidence! I posted a link to my... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=233522 ...version of that hull and you post a much better one the same day. I was considering adding an extra section and building the whold ship up another deck, but haven't as I more wanted a minimum change version. I especially love the decking, but I think the back is a bit much. (Bit rich from me considering I cheated and used the one that came with the set!)
