  1. Just picked up another load of bluecoats and pirates. ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332113543264
  2. With the Crossbone Clipper and Armada Flagship the main problems are the awful multicoloured hull pieces. Either have them all black or all brown or a mix of brown and black not bright colours and certainly not white!
  3. It's interesting to note though that despite not having the newer parts a lot of people still rank the likes of BSB and SES above the newer ships! ?
  4. Re: Pirates of the Caribbean, it would also have been cool if they'd released one of the Royal Navy ships to rival the pirates. Either Dauntless, Interceptor or Endeavour.
  5. Yeah I understand. They are definitely cool sets and I can see the interest in them when there are no other Pirate sets being released. I think they "missed the boat" with the early classic Pirate stuff where they could have had some better and bigger Imperial vessels to rival BSB. They really should have released a bluecoat ship of a similar size to the BSB in the 1991 follow up to the launch range.
  6. They are cool sets but I personally see POTC as a separate theme to Pirates. Maybe because I'm a Classic Pirate fan in the main.
  7. Lego always did great ranges of small, medium and big sets so you could build collections up. I loved the small sets as a kid as I could get one a week with my pocket money.
  8. I agree with the top 3. i think it was fairly obvious before getting to them what they were going to be.
  9. Just being pedantic but the bluecoats leader is not an admiral. He's called Governor Broadside. He was only available in the Caribbean Clipper and Fort Eldorado sets. He seems to wear his hat with a different coloured feather in the 2 sets.
  10. Recently won a 6267 Lagoon Lockup. Looks to be in great condition in the photos so now just waiting for it to be posted. i actually already have this set but it was in the purple Lego System box and the rest of my boxed sets are in the classic yellow Legoland boxes. So this new 6267 should match the others! ?
  11. I'd love to get this set but it seems to be getting even more expensive. wish I'd have got it off eBay about 18 months ago when someone was selling it boxed for just over £120.
  12. It's likely to be 6235 Buried Treasure?
  13. 7 hours doesn't sound too bad. I read several people online taking 13-14 hours?!?! Have got the set but trying to put aside some time to build it. I don't really want to do it in bits and am thinking of doing either a time lapse video or stop motion. I'm thinking time lapse at the moment as I don't like the idea of taking over 4600 pictures??!?!?
  14. Yeah the movie doesn't look like it will be that great but I'm definitely getting this!
  15. Great review. This is the first Pirate set I got as a kid so I love it. Have got 3 now (1 boxed, 2 unboxed) plus an extra baseplate. With the crane string I usually wind it around one of the bricks above the prison cell to shorten it.
  16. At work so won't be able to watch this till later. However I can see from the pic that the base is the wrong colour?
  17. No, I don't have it. I've been trying to collect all the early sets in boxed condition but it looks like I won't be able to get this so will just get an unboxed set.
  18. Ah right. I have boxed versions of all the 1989-90 sets now apart from this one so I may just get this without the packaging then.
  19. Was this set US only? And was it only part of a value pack so no specific box?
  20. No. It was 2nd hand from eBay. Have just put it together and there are a few small missing bits. Also no Bluecoat boat and the pirate wench is missing and replaced by a random pirate. There were a few Castle type swords in there instead of cutlasses and most of the pirates the print is starting to rub off the fronts. I'm not too fussed as they did say there were bits missing in the ad. Will need to give it a clean as it's quite dusty and Bricklink some parts. The box is in reasonable condition though with just a small tear on one corner but the inner tray is there.
  21. Ok, here goes. I needed another storage box after recent buys so I ordered one off eBay but later on found I'd actually ordered a lunch box which looks similar in the picture. So now I have both. More eBay bits - June 2016 by The Imperial Soldier, on Flickr I got this bundle of figures off Bricklink. 22. Just got some more figures from Bricklink. A mix of Imperial Soldiers and pirates and got another Lego storage box. Also just nabbed a Rock Island Refuge on eBay so looking forward to that arriving! :D
  23. Just ordered a few more Bluecoats and pirates from Bricklink. Will hopefully be here before the end of the week!
  24. I wasn't sure on this but it's starting to grow on me. I've got the original Ecto-1 and just ordered the firehouse so will definitely be getting this to complete the set. Personally I'd prefer more sets from the original films but if they do more for the reboot they could be good too!
  25. I think that makes sense. It's representative of how the Caribbean was throughout the Pirate era. As well as Pirates you still had the French and British opposing each other.
