[Software] Blueprint, a building instruction generator for LDD
I have an iPad that I use. As mentioned by others, LDD's PDF will be complete nonsense for anything greater than about 100 parts. It can't think for itself and wont allow you to think for it, Blueprint does. :D

Here's another much more simplistic reason. I don't have the physical space at my desk and computer to put together a modular or similar multi thousand piece scale model. I can't afford to purchase a laptop to have LDD at my building space..... so.... instructions are about the only way I can take my digital model to physical model. Yes it takes a lot of time, and maybe you can cut a few corners in the building steps cause it's for yourself.... but its a ton easier than moving setting up* my iMac to the living room...

I bumped for the post above his.... but anyway, I guess nobody has an answer.

[Software] Blueprint, a building instruction generator for LDD
Hey all, I've made some posts here in the much earlier pages of this thread. Been using Blueprint in various build states for a while now, with some nice completed efforts. I'm working on instructions for something new now, and have run into a problem I never came across before due to the types of builds I was making. With a modular building the viewing box never changes... you might rotate the model a few times throughout a section, but never do you need to focus on different sections of the model. My new project is a slight adaptation to the community released Barad Dur lxf from Ideas a couple years back. Much like a giant UCS model, the zoom required to see the parts means that certain sections of the model will go off-screen, outside the viewing box, as you progress along the length of the build. I seem to be hitting a bounding-box issue though, where no matter what dimensions I put in to my page settings, the amount of the model being rendered is always the same. I need to know if anyone has figured out a work-around for this issue... a method to 'focus' the camera on a specified 'mid-point' like you can in LDD by right-clicking a brick on the assembly. It's not letting me link a drop-box image directly, but this link should be public: https://www.dropbox.com/s/esuiwbf1fz2imlu/blueprintboundingbox.jpg?dl=0 In this image my Page Settings are 2732x2048 (pixel dimensions of the largest iPad Pro which I use to build from) with 250%, 150%, 300% Assemblies, Parts, Text. If I increase the dimensions to say 4732x2048.... that bounding box around my assembly stays exactly the same... i just gain more dead space around it. Can I increase the size of the bounding box???? If not could it be added as an ini command?? Edit: right after posting this I went and fiddled around a bit more, the issue might be in part tied to my 60% zoom setting on left pane there. Zooming in to 100% shows why the bounding box is where it is. The question remains though, any way to focus where that box is looking?

It's absolutely excellent. Now that I know the workaround to the issue I find it's completely functional! The only issue I'm seeing now is the odd quantities it can come up with on submodel callouts. Seems it gets the (x#) correct if there are ONLY parts to the submodels included in that step... add any extra parts to that step and the numbers have potential to go out of wack. Sometimes way out of wack! I'm not intending to use these instructions for anyone but myself though, and since I designed the models, it's not an issue either since I know what's up. Once that bug is fixed though, I suspect this is ready for Release Candidate 1! Love it. Any insight on how this is actually done? Your screen caps didn't show any arrows. Easy enough to add them in post production of course, but if it was a built in feature....

Legendary! Thanks dude, this is excellent. I knew there must be something I was doing to cause it. I had actually observed that thicker line before, but never thought anything of it. Never realized it might be the culprit, and with your explanation, it's obviously quite easy to amend! Excellent!

First off, a HUGE thank you to those involved with making a working native Mac version for this! Finally after a year I can get my hands on with this awesome tool! I find it incredibly intuitive to use, loving the results so far.... however, I keep running into a game-stopper issue. Running build 22, it loads up saying "Crashing on Mac too!".... I haven't had it crash on me once. However, I have noticed several times now I've been working along on my step design, and I go to regenerate the steps..... and it just stops working. Nothing I do seems to fix the issue, I've tried "updating model", I've tried closing and rebooting. Once it stops generating, I basically have to scrap the whole file and start fresh. I managed to get through the first floor of a Modular without having this issue (121 steps).... but I fear it could occur on the last steps of a multi-hundred step manual which would be a colossal kick in the pants. Has anyone run into this issue? Is there a specific trigger causing it, that isn't in fact random? Something that I could be intentionally avoiding?

It's been quiet here for a few days....Saw there was a system Java update for Mac last week. Did this provide any progress for us?

[Software] Blueprint, a building instruction generator for LDD
Hey again guys. I don't check this forum very regularly yet, as my primary source of interest in this thread and the impending Mac version of the app. I've recently placed orders for parts to build my MOC, however I don't have instructions yet! I'll try to check in here to keep up to date, but if Malou or anyone makes a breakthrough, is there a chance someone might be able to PM me with a notification? Would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the great efforts MSX80, excellent stuff you're doing here!

[Software] Bluerender, a rendering engine for LDD
Oh cool, you're still awake. Shot you a PM on BP a few minutes back, proceeded to figure out the .sc file on my own thanks to posts already on here. I've just recently upped the resolution a ton, so that in the end I can crop the render and get close to the size I want... so the current .sc file reflects that with a 4k x 22.5k resolution (not the aforementioned 2560x1440) Forgive my newbness, but I don't see an attachments icon anywhere on this posting tool... Here's my .sc quote: Edit: Just PM'd the LXF on Brickpicker in the meantime.

[Software] Bluerender, a rendering engine for LDD
Hey folks, Blundering my way through editing this .sc file and getting some test renders fired off on my iMac. I've figured out the resolution thing now, and I'm fiddling with FOV.... but I can't for the life of me CENTER the model in my render. Camera on model in LDD is centered exactly how I want it, but no matter what settings I try, the render always takes up about 2/3s of the space, always situated in the upper left corner of the 2560x1440 render, leaving a big fat border of background on the right and bottom. I want to fill my render edge to edge with the model.... what setting have I missed? I suspect it's got something to do with " transform row %LDDCAMERA% " but I can't figure out what to change with it. Any tips for a newb?

[Software] Blueprint, a building instruction generator for LDD
Hello. Was pointed to this thread by our friend Bublible here, from over on Brickpicker.com. I'm working on my first MOC that I think I actually want to order parts for and build in real life. It's a ~1900 piece project of the Pont du Gard in southern France, so using LDD's instructions, well... fat chance, right? I'm one of those MacOS users though. And a complete neanderthal when it comes to command line. Eagerly awaiting a Terminal work around [with step by step newb instructions] or an outright Mac release of this very fine looking app!
