Thanks for the replies, and yeah, I was aware I couldn't use the C+ app with different motors, though not very relevant to me, as I'm planning to use my Robot Inventor hub for part of the build, as I only have one technic hub, and want to use PyBricks for xbox remote control. I'd seen RacingBrick's L vs XL comparison, so was mainly wondering if the large angular motor/L motor are strong enough to use instead of the XLs; the smaller size of the Ls, or unique form factor of the large angular motor sounded more useful for MOCing than being a bit better at sustained loads.

Need some motor advice. I'm working on putting together the Liebherr excavator from my collection, but I don't have any PU XL motors. I've got 4 L, and 4 Medium Angular (from the PU Mindstorms set.) From my understanding, the Medium Angular motors definitely can't sub for PU XL motors. But I've also heard the XL motors aren't really different from the L motors, so I'd like to get motors that are more than just "L but a bit bulkier." I was looking at the Large Angular motors, but I'm not sure if they'd be powerful enough for the Liebherr.

Excited to see this, especially as after a bit of a false start, I've been easing myself back into MOCing in this wheel scale. It's honestly a pretty nice scale to work at, if a bit tricky if you're making an RC MOC.

Wow, love the looks of this all on its own! It being an alternate model makes that even more impressive.

Been working on this WIP on and off since getting the Audi RC set in February. The PU hub brought the amount of individual motors I could control up to 8, meaning I could finally work on an idea I've wanted to try for several years; an RC tracked backhoe. So far I've worked on several revisions of different modules: he drive + functions base

So I got my Technic hub and installed the APK for the legacy app that says it supports Powered Up, but no dice; it doesn't detect the hub no matter how many times I hit refresh, while it will detect the BuWizz 2 right away. The Technic hub is picked up by the SBrick and LEGO PUP apps, so I'm a bit lost.

Coming out of my dark ages and have since changed my online handle elsewhere and so would like to change this one to Mantarri to keep it consistent if that's okay.

I realize I wasn't as clear as I'd meant to be when I posted; I'm hoping to use the Powered Up hub with the BuWizz app until I can get a BuWizz 3.0.

I'm considering investing in some Powered Up parts and had some questions. I currently own a BuWizz 2.0 + a collection of PF motors, and am looking at buying a Powered Up set - the only catch is if I can control both at the same time. BuWizz's support section lists an APK for a version of the app that apparently supports Powered Up, but I just wanted to confirm it still works, and also if it supports taking advantage of the "smart" aspects of Powered Up motors. I am aware of BrickController 2, but my good bluetooth controller died, so it's not a super good option for me at the moment.

When I heard about this contest, I decided to look through the older technic sets, and stumbled upon the arctic line. 8660 "Arctic Rescue" stood out to me, and so I've worked on this on-and-off for the past month or so. Functions 4 Wheel Steering, with steering wheel in cabin and HOG Raising and lowering of ramp via side knob Snow dozer that may be stored in the Arctic Rescue Vehicle. (Added) Fake V4 engine driven via the center set of wheels Since I don't exactly have snow on hand, with it being around 30 Degrees Celsius, I opted to find a shady muddy area, and I think it worked rather well. All in all, it's the best I could do with my collection of parts while trying to stick to the original colour scheme. I had to do grey for the ramp so that I had enough white panels for the hood and roof. While it may not be the most perfect recreation, it was a fun challenge, and was nice to work on something simpler. I wish LEGO would revisit more unique vehicles like this. The B Model is also quite interesting, and I was tempted to recreate that, but decided on the A model to try to fit in the HOG and in-cabin steering.

So long as it's available in your region, you can order parts of LEGO's Bricks and Pieces service (available in the same area as getting replacement parts). I think the beam with perpendicular pinholes was around $1 CAD on there when I bought some, definitely less than $2 USD.
