Looking for an overview of different gear mechanisms
Hmm, http://www.technicopedia.com/ gives me an "ERROR 403 - Forbidden!" message.

Looking for an overview of different gear mechanisms
I love to analyze gears (is that the correct word?) and how they work. For instance, the system used for turning the wheels on the Sandcrawler was so fascinating to me that I studied and played with it for more than half an hour So I was wondering if there is a topic/site/document that shows or discusses these systems and not the complete models. Also, if you know a set that has multiple or interesting gears, I always appreciate tips.

Thanks for the welcome all. I really like playing with light effects, even the colour that you use can give a whole different view on your model. Oh, and this forum is huuuuge. I've been reading almost non stop for the last few hours

Ideas for CMFs
Really like this set. My favorites: Gymnast (having been a gymnast myself when I was a lot younger, this one appeals strongly to me) Galatic traveller: space, always a win here Southern business man: this one is hilarious, love it Troll: great design. I would go out of my way to get a bunch of these Lifesaver guy: would be great next to chicken man, penguin man and banana man Architect: I like the design on this one, especially the blueprint detail Giraffe suit: well, see lifesaver guy ;) Robotics engineer: that mini robot, way too cute.

As a 40 year old I rediscovered my love for LEGO. My wife finally gave in and allowed me to buy one set. It was the Millenium Falcon. Then it spiralled a bit out of control Now I have several sets (even a few UCS) and enjoy building them, tearing them down again and rebuilding them. I'm also trying to put some electronics in the sets; think led lights and motors. Fun!

LEGO VIP program questions for you!
1) Membership achieved by buying a large set. Today I use it for the special promo's (double points) and collecting points off course. 2) A nice discount, especially when there are double point days. 3) I like receiving the emails about exclusive sets that you can buy early. I don't take advantage of this (most of the times I wait until there's a double point promo) but this way I keep updated on new big sets. 4) Mailinglists for specific themes with news, new releases, new build instructions for existing sets. Maybe an extra figure, doesn't even have to be an exclusive, when buying a large set; just as a thank you gift. 5) In the store? The same as today. The store I go to has a super friendly staff that is always willing to help.
