Great inspiration. Hard to see on my phone but is this old grey or newer light bluish grey? Cheers for the lovely photos. I think this will inspire my winter MOC build but I shall have to use only trans yellow.

Biased by my childhood experience with Lego from around 1977 to 1987 it's Classic Space for me, followed by the original Blacktron.
  3. I have a display of classic space Lego that I've taken to a few shows in the UK and I'm amazed how the memory of it resonates with the adults, mostly guys but a few gals too. I doubt a big profit for Lego but a couple of reissues would I am sure be worth investigating. Just depends which sets! The most talked about in my experience is the 928 Galaxy Explorer.
  4. It was certainly a great day and as you say a nice 'destination' for part of a London visit. I'm glad you got a Lester, but as someone else intimates they have missed a trick there as they could sell 1000's of these. Let's hope they have an idea up there sleeve? Mind you that might upset the people who've got them on eBay already? It was amusing to see myself in your outside pic!

At the Mowbray Bricks event run by the Brickshire LUG I finally bought the Exosuit. Couldn't resist the classic space logo. My 11 yr old daughter bought the Elves series bakery and my 7 yr old bought a nice yellow minifig face pillow with a smiley womans face because she fell in love with it, and then later in the afternoon it was stolen :( She was heartbroken and I was annoyed since I'm kind of on a budget just now. cheers Matt
  6. Welcome to the forum. In building up an army I wish you luck. Some of those minifig prices make my eyes water ;) To paraphrase some Star Wars quotes - mm The Finance is strong with this one - Do, or do not, there is no try ;)

I have applied stickers to the sets my kids have bought and the Star Wars sets, I am more a builder that MOCr of the new stuff so I am not too bothered, and the new stickers will hopefully last.
  8. Is the blue beetle photo in the initial post part of the official Lego announcement? If so I particularly like the fact this is a UK Right Hand Drive spec post '58 vehicle, even though they have gone for a LHD config in the build. I presume this is because of the majority of markets the model will be sold in, although if the aim of this is indeed as a "surfer" vehicle then the bumpers are wrong because strictly speaking the US spec ones are different, but hey ho, that's just my classic car mindset looking for differences. Now if this was made into a two tone with an oval rear window....hmm.

Brilliant, I love the "wet look" of the street surface almost like there's just been a shower, and the trolley car coming along is a really nice model!
  10. As a classic car fan who used to be interested in the KdF wagen I love your T1 in this MOC, and the retro gas station design! Lovely work. As an aside have you got one of the stickered "Norton" bricks from the LEGO set of the 1970's? I got two last year just because I thought they looked cool
  11. Intermingled with the building I keep looking at classic space era bricks and parts that I can use to MOC a Space Base of my own. I got this little lot for just under £14, plus 3 crater plates two still with loads of shine on them and virtually mint for and some "town" Lego for the girls for £5.50. I was so pleased to open up the parcel. Not only in the town stuff was mixed up the blue and trans yellow windows I'd wanted but also the grey old style TV aerial antenna, stoked! Also all the glazing and most of the white bricks for the Breezeway Cafe minus the plates and base. Not pictured but also present was an original classic space flag from one of the larger sets, white with two stickers applied - one of them upside down Although three of the red spacemen have lost almost all of their gold the white ones are surprisingly good with only one of them showing a little bit of 'yellowing'. All of them have what I am told is the early 'seamless' legs and hollow bodies, apparently making them quite early ones? Soon these will become a part of my growing space diorama. Sadly what I am lacking most at home is "space" to display them!
  12. Nice to see you, I had the Lego Technic 8844 Helicopter way back when it was pretty new. I think it was Christmas 1982. Good luck with your creations!
  13. Since I was encouraged to make up some of my old sets and take some photos to share I thought I would make a thread about it, and hope it is of interest to some of you, who might like my revisiting of the past. So, where did the story start? Well, it probably started when my parents got given some old Duplo size bricks for me, but I cannot really remember that! What I remember was being given the 918 Space Transport ship as a present after I had broken my chin and been in hospital for a few weeks circa 1979/80. It started me off loving the Lego Space sets, along with the Lego Town that me and my sister got given for birthdays, Christmas and other little gifts over the early 1980's. Over time this collection became pretty large, in various little boxes and buckets until my parents bought a clean new white dustbin with a close-able lid. At one time the bin was virtually full and pretty heavy. It stayed in my parents loft for years and handed down to my niece. More was added and some bits sold at a car boot sale at some point. Eventually with my eldest young daughter growing and as my niece grew it came back to me in 2014. It's been taking me a fair amount of spare time to sort out the Friends and other "modern" Lego but slowly since November I have been getting around to sorting the old stuff. Thanks to discovering Brick link etc its been great to find replacement parts for broken bits, lost stickers and bleached parts! I have been finding way more than I thought there would be. Of course this has now led to buying bricks to make sets I never had, or that have been lost in the mists of time! . This is the little display on the top of one of my bookcases with all the little vehicles I have made from the parts I had. I will try taking individual pics or a smaller group as I work out how to do the photo hosting and posting. The two large sets on the left are eBay buys of sets I never had and on the right is a little space base MOC I am working on being guarded by my daughters astro kitty!
  14. I don't remember you, because I'm newly back from the dark ages myself, but good luck getting back and enjoying all things LEGO.
  15. Interesting topic. I don't particularly like "LEGO's" but that hasn't come to me particularly from any modern online web argument I have read, my Dad always referred to it as LEGO even in the early 1980's when me and my sis were playing with our collection my dad would perhaps say are you getting the Lego out? Always referred to in the singular.
