Hi! Since new year I've been working with this LDD MOC. As you see it's in the WIP stage. But my plan is to update it continuously in this thread until it's complete! It is rendered with Bluerender.
  4. Hey! Thanks guys! That's correct! Actually I been thinking of building Dejima for some years. Ever since I wrote my history thesis about two swedes who spent some time on the island during the 17th and 18th centuries.
  5. Is the red conical hat from set 70735 in ordinary red or dark red?
  6. Thanks for the comments! Hm, that's an quite interesting idea! :) The only decent japanese themed buildings we have, in "modern" times, are one or two Ninjago sets. At least Ninjago has given us a lot of new pieces!

Thanks for the comments! I think it took about a month to build! I wonder why they disappeared. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that universities became more common in Europe and therefore students didn't have move across Europe to study... Thanks! Unfortunatly there is no interior!
  8. I'm overwhelmed! Thanks so much guys! Yeah, I know. Sadly, photograpy is not one of my storgest sides. And the swedish dark winter makes it hard to take good pictures with natural light. Thanks! The building is just hollow, so there isn't much to see. And unfortunately, after I had taken some photos I began to tear it down.

Thanks guys! :) The building I was inspired by, Norrlands Nation, actually has an alternative color on the back. And suprisingly enough, I wouldn't be super suprised if the events actually happened simultaneously. Anything and everything can happen at the Nations.

In the early 17th century european traders and missionaries was banned to enter Japan. The shogunate believed that the europeans were forerunners of a military campaign and therefore they were expelled. My project is inspired by these events. The scene depicts some desperate Europeans who tried to take refuge in a castle. Criticism and comments are highly welcomed!

Student Nations are regional student associations at a university. A similar phenomena, outside northen Europe, are the fraternities at American universities, but it's imperfect comparison. The nation system was once a widespread concept in Europe, but now they only exist by some degree in Sweden and Finland. This building is inspired by Norrland Nation in Uppsala, where I am quite involved. I tried to recreate a scene from the early 1900s. The scene captures a typical day of student life with alcohol, love, an infamous horse incident, fencing and so on. It was the winning entry for Swebrick's contest "Staden vi byggde" (The City We Built) Comments and criticism are highly welcomed :)

Hm, don't be so sure about that! Mary Wollstonecraft wrote the feminist classic A Vindication of the Rights of Woman during the late 18th century

It looks awesome! You have really captured modern architecture!
  15. Thanks! I'm happy to say that my train came in first place in its category and the station came in second place its category :)
  16. Thanks guys!
  17. Swebrick has hosted a train building competition. And even tough I don't consider myself being a train builder, I decided to participate. Here is my first entry, for the on-the-railroad category: The Locomotive And here is my second entry, for the by-the-railroad category: The Train Station Overview: Platform: Roof details: It was quite fun to build something out of my comfort zone. And since it was my first train, I'm happy with the result. All feedback is welcomed!
  18. Thanks for the review! Is the mustache piece compatible with any of the current samurai helmets?

Thanks guys! I really appreciate that you liked these :) Neither do I see Frederick II as a genuine philosopher. The reason I put him together with Machiavelli was that he wrote a refutation of Machiavelli's The Prince where he simply rejected Machiavelli's theories with quite weak arguments. I like to put these historical characters in pairs that have stuff in common or are opposite of each other. Machiavelli is pragmatic, Frederick II is idealistic.

Yes, designing Smith was a bit of a challange - and you're absolutly right, he looks like any 18th century guy. I first began with Marx, cause I had this idea for quite some time now, with Balin's hair and beard piece. But I felt that if I was going to do Marx, I also needed his 'companion'. Since Nietzsche is one of my favorites philosopher, I already had the moustache idea in mind :) But thanks for the tip anyway. I think the combo will turn out great :)

Today I played around with some Hobbit parts and tried to improve my photography skills. This is the result: Karl Marx and Adam Smith. Two of the most important philosophers of economic and political theory in modern times. Their writings changed the world and the two have become quite controversial ever since, especially Marx. Since philosophy and history are two subjects that are dear to me, I hope to continue building this kind of important historical characters in the future :)
