2L Driving Rings Question
Alex Ilea replied to LegoLord1880's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNot sure, but maybe the new 2L ring is compatible with the old 2L connector that could keep the old 2L ring in place?

Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R - 42154 B
Hi everyone, This is my Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R built out of the 42154 Ford GT set. It is the follow up of my Toyota Supra, which was also an alternate model of the same set. The build process was quite smooth until I built the car in real life. Let me explain.... I built it as I usually do now, digitally in studio. Import the set inventory, add all the reference images, and start building. My main focus was to improve on my Toyota Supra. People complained about some rigidity issues, lacking of the inline 6... And therefore I focused on these, while still aiming for realism with the build. Building started with the front axle where I kept some parts from my old build, but made room for the inline 6 engine, and for the engine details. Rear axle is nothing super special, hubs, 5L liftarms as A arms and these annoying cv joint joints. Annoying because they are so niche. The big frames allowed to make the car super strong, The set comes with two #3 connectors, that I used in the front to get those angled headlights/intakes. Actually I am quite pleased how the headlights turned out, and even the print matches the car well. Rear end of the GT-R is of course iconic, known and used in so many video games... I had to make it instantly recognisable, so you are the judge of that. Double exhaust pipes instead of those big single ones (I prefer it this way). Another thing people complained with my previous build was the lack of 2 seats. So this time I took great effort in "cutting" beams and white parts from the build process, and I managed to get two full seats in. After finishing the digital file, I built it in real life and there were a lot of body parts loose, but nothing major. So I made it strong, and now it is very playable. The functions are as follows: -HoG -inline 6 engine -opening doors and hood -independent suspension all around I really wanted to get a working steering wheel in, but there were no parts left unfortunately. This model uses 1433 pieces which is almost 98% of the parts from the Ford GT. Definitely my best % ever used for an alt. It's quite wild how you scramble for connectors ad pins in the end ;) Of course, in the end I took some photos of it next to my Supra, as I am lucky enough to have 2 sets... A large galley of photos can be found -> here As always, building instructions are available here for the GT-R and here for the Toyota Supra MK4 YouTube video: Thank you!

MOC - Mazda MX5 (NA)
Alex Ilea replied to brictric's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, you can make a soft top with a technic frame, and a non LEGO fabric piece. Jeroen has a bunch of cool convertibles, you can have a look at his Gallardo for a hard top and at his Aston for a soft one

[MOC] Technic RC Pneumatic Dump Truck
Alex Ilea replied to P McCatty's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAbsolutely insane build, and we love that over here! I really like your attention to detail with this build (those turn signal stocks are just perfect), and of course the functionality. Well deserved front page.

MOC - Mazda MX5 (NA)
Alex Ilea replied to brictric's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFantastic cute build. I quite like the pop-up headlights and the overall looks. One thing I think you can make better is the windshield to have more red at the top connection points. Also, it would have been nice if it had a working top

[TC27] Crane Dump Truck
Alex Ilea replied to Alex Ilea's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks everyone for voting on my build, and for the superb result! I have the stud.io file for this build, and it can be downloaded on my bricksafe page HERE There are some differences in the shifting mechanism to make it more reliable IRL compared to the file, but maybe you find the build useful for inspiration. The rear linear actuator positioning is interesting, where is just barely clears the L motor when in the retracted position. Have fun!
