[TC25] BMW M 1000 RR
Hello everyone, For this contest I was actually puzzled about what to actually build. So I did the only logical step and went to Brickset and searched by year what technic sets have been released in the past 20 years and chose 1 out of each year that was interesting and that could fit the challenge. The idea After the elimination round there were left the following: Claas Xerion 5000, Mack Anthem, BMW M 1000 RR and 42069 Extreme Adventure. In the end I really wanted to build the Claas (the Zetros tractor tires would have been perfect) but I chose the BMW since I never really did a manual bike before. I think this will be a nice challenge to build in a smaller scale. I am using the "standard scale" moto wheels, so the build should be around 65-70% the size of the original set. I want to keep the same style of solutions used in the set (gearbox with 1-N-2-3, suspension, the radiators, etc..). The goal is that, if you have both the set and the shrunk down version side by side, you really can tell they are made to look the same. I am thinking I will need to print some custom stickers (or just buy a set sticker sheet and cut it to size). Progress Since the wheels I am using have only 1 size, I will be making that size as an average of the actual wheel size. So far I have made some quite nice progress, and I'll start with the mock-up scale chassis: And I worked yesterday quite a bit to create a mock-up version of the 1-N-2-3 gearbox, just like the set. It still needs to be build professionally, same with the suspension. In the photo below you can also see the sequential shifter. The cool part is how I made those green 3L bars (1 on the bottom of the subassembly) to be travel limiters, so you can't overturn the crank and disable the mechanism. I am really excited for this build! Thank you for reading.

[TC25] 42145 Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
Alex Ilea replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThis was the set I originally wanted to build for the competition, but found another meanwhile. I believe that, if you want to have an interesting personal challenge, and potentially win the contest, you should add the variable pitch, and the trigger to power the blades. Yes it will be difficult (borderline impossible) but it doesn't need to be perfect, and it would be really cool to see. Good luck friend on this project!

[MOC]◄URAL 4320 6x6►[2023]
Alex Ilea replied to Michael217's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNice build! Now do a gearbox delete, and go full russian mode: 2 buggy motors per axle Jokes aside, this looks really cool.

[WIP] Red Beryl T (Trophy Truck)
Alex Ilea replied to JLiu15's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLooks interesting, but the wheel size seems off for this scale. The Claas tractor tires or the Big Red mobile crane tires would fit this size MOC.

How to start on making a car?
Alex Ilea replied to d0mka's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHow I build cars: 1. Decide what car to build in wich scale. 2. Use Sariel's scaler to draw the main dimensions of the model. 3. Print the blueprint of the real car, in the exact same size your model will be when finished (based on tire size that you chose) 4.Just build it, while referencing very often the printed blueprint (check for seat position, dash, pilars, engine position, steeringwheel position, roof height, etc...) Hope it helps, you got this!

[MOC] ICARUS Supercar
Alex Ilea replied to Madoca 1977's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingVery cool remake, it definitely took a lot of time to fit all of those components in, and I congratulate you for that. I advise you to be careful about melting axles and axle holes in the gearbox. I did a similar set-up and I braced the motors very well (at an angle like your build), but I used 4 buwizz motors. Greasing wil definitely help. Keep it up!

42154 B Model - Ford GT40
Alex Ilea replied to Isaac Yaw's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI would appriciate a better MOC description rather than just the first link being a sales pitch. I understand the desire to sell B models (I've done a couple) but please keep any promotional links at the end. And make a topic with a few photos showcasing some angles. Regardint the model, at a first glance it looks almost like the Lego Set. You should have chosen a car that is a bit more different from the original.

[MOC] Ferrari Purosangue - 42143 B Model
Alex Ilea replied to Alex Ilea's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI appreciate all of the comments! Nothing hurts Bruno, we all here to improve and have fun👍. Yeah, the proportions are not 100% , yeah it is kinda slammed to the ground, but I still enjoy how it turned out. Trust me, I wish I used my full collection as I usually do to create the best looks and the best functions... Time go get working on new cars, I got 10 on my to do list so it should be a fun year, and hopefully plenty new stuff to surprise you guys in a good way. Thanks for the feedback!

[MOC] Ferrari Purosangue - 42143 B Model
Hello everyone! Today I want to present you my latest build, a B model for the 42143 Daytona set, the Ferrari Purosangue: Being the first ever 4 door car produced by the Italian brand, although they do not advertise it as a SUV, it is the most practical Ferrari ever made. Even though I had only the limited inventory of the Daytona set, turning a 2 seater in a 4 seater was a nice challenge and I can say that I am very pleased with the final result. Features:-steering with steering wheel-8 speed gearbox-V12 engine-opening hood, doors, and trunk-full suspension I borrowed the Daytona from my friend @braker23 and took some photos next Purosangue's brother: Some pictures of the interior: Here is the video presentation on the build: Also an extensive photo gallery is available: https://bricksafe.com/pages/ILEAALEX/ferrari-purosangue There are also professional building instruction for this model: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-141212/Alex Ilea/ferrari-purosangue-42143-b-model/#details I hope you like this build. Any criticism, feedback, improvements are welcome. Thank you!

How many models of yours are WIP?
Alex Ilea replied to Jundis's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAlways when I get a chassis ready I am already thinking of the next project. This does mean that I do tend to finish builds in a longer timeframe that otherwise. This is what I do to keep the motivation going: I watch videos of the real cars on YouTube, throughout the building time. Also very important: when I choose what project to work on, it is always an exciting car for me, and not necessarily for everyone.

One more stolen design
Alex Ilea replied to steph77's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAll my models that I posted on my Rebrickable have been stolen and resold in China WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, either as sets (the BMW) or just as instructions (rest of them). It is sad, but on the bright side, it is proof that my work was good enough to be of interest to "them".

[MOC] Ferrari LaFerrari 1:8
Alex Ilea replied to T Lego's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThis is a superb MOC that really incapsulates what technic is all about: Functions and Looks. The bodywork looks very impressive and is definitely a faithful representation of the real car. The functions are just incredible, and they definitely add a lot of value to this build. I feel that with this build, the standard of the technic supercar MOC was just raised to an astronomical level, and all of us MOCers should take notes and don't sleep on this one. One thought that keeps grinding me, is that even though this model is so spectacular in every way, I keep on thinking if this many functions is just way too many? If there is such a thing =) Congratulations on the model!

Lego 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE Mods and Improvements
Alex Ilea replied to -_-Husky-_-'s post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWe never get tired of those, it's just that the standards are so high that you need something really innovative to get the attention.

[MOC] 1:8 Lamborghini Huracan V2
Alex Ilea replied to mihao's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe side view is absolutely splendid! I would think you should use Lox's Huracan solution for the headlights, as it seems to be the most faithful one to the real car. To be fair, the front is not up to the standard of the rest on the build, mainly the headlights and the front intakes. I believe you can do even better. Overall, even with the mentioned critiques, it is a cool car and good representation in lego 👍

What You Learned with Lego Technic that you would not have Otherwise
Alex Ilea replied to DrJB's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'm an engineer, but I have learned about structural integrity, suspension designs, gearboxes, helicopter mechanics, strength principles. Also, since building with lego I've learned about photography, videography, production, emails, digital work, editing. Overall it was a massively positive experience!

Which motor will I need?
Alex Ilea replied to TheLegoDr's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think for what you are describing, you would need a Large motor. It has enough torque for most applications. Also, you can program the PU hub to make the motor run at a slow constant speed.

[HELP] Servo Alternative - Return-to-Center Steering with no motor stalling
Alex Ilea replied to Mpafr's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI also found that the lego servo motors are unreliable, so I bought some copies from aliexpress and they seem to be rock solid. And for the price you don't really care that much if they break.
