kbalage replied to Werlu Ulcur's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks Jim! Not much to share (yet ), but most of the pictures on my blog are/will be created with this setup. I'm working on a longer post & video about 42065 Tracked racer mods, will post it soon!

kbalage replied to Werlu Ulcur's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLet me share a pic of my DIY home studio setup. You don't need that many things or really expensive stuff to achieve some good results. The only "professional" element is the grey (and white) paper roll for the background. The rest includes a modified IKEA clothes rack, some other leftover IKEA furniture pieces, two 45W LED panels, two monitor arms, and some 3d printed pieces to hold these together :)

(Poll) do you have a buggy motor??
kbalage replied to Aventador2004's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have 8 of them currently, all of them built in. The BuWizz unit and Buggy motors are very good friends :)

BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
Can you please share the information you received? Did they start shipping already? According to the Kickstarter post they'll provide tracking numbers, but didn't recieve any yet.. I also made some tests with the new app and the older prototype unit I have, reported my findings and the bugs I saw but got no feedback since then.. can't wait to compare it with the final product.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@efferman I see a gear on the top for HOG where it is usually placed, the one on the back might have a different function (if it has any and it's not only mimicking a spare wheel).

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks guys, it makes sense now :) The big sprocket at the end might be the one to adjust the height of the car I guess. I still don't like the whole design of this set but the details are more and more interesting.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMight be a noob question, but what are those shock absorber-like parts under the wheel arches? Definitely not the regular size of the usual ones.. are they imitations or placeholders?

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWell, this one looks pretty good in purple, ready to be created in Technic :) Otherwise 42069 looks odd to me, like a set without a proper concept. 42070 can be a good base for a cool trial truck. I assume the manual switches can be easily motorized and by adding another controller the set becomes fully RC.

Lpub3d crashes when trying to open mpd - solved
Meanwhile I posted the question on the Ldraw forum as well, and as Philo found out the issue was with the headers - Lpub3d did not handle well the empty author field. Once the headers were replaced the files can be opened flawlessly :)

Lpub3d crashes when trying to open mpd - solved
I'm pretty new here so apologies if I'm asking something known - I've tried to search the forums for an answer but no luck so far. I'm building a C model of the 42029 pickup using Ldcad 1.5 and I was planning to create instructions with Lpub3D. I made the mistake of not testing my .mpd during the building process with Lpub3D, so I've realized towards the end that the file cannot be opened, Lpub3D crashes when I try to open the file (Lpub3d***.exe has stopped working). As I did not have any other troubleshooting ideas I started to remove submodels and steps in my mpd going backwards to see if I can find the problematic part. As it turned out the problem is not that simple - different versions of Lpub3D on different operating systems can open different versions of my file. E.g. version with 8 submodels - opens with Win10/Lpub3d 2.0.14 / opens with Win7/Lpub3d 2.0.14 / opens with Win10/Lpub3d 2.0.14 version with 11 submodels - crashes with Win10/Lpub3d 2.0.14 / opens with Win7/Lpub3d 2.0.14 / opens with Win10/Lpub3d 1.3.4 version with 21 submodels - crashes with all versions (nearly complete model has 60 submodels) Due to this inconsistency I could not find a single part or submodel causing the issue - above a certain complexity all versions of Lpub3D crashes. I'm sure Lpub3d supposed to handle a model with ~1000 pieces, so I don't know at this point how to change my file to make it work. Any advise or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

42065 RC Tracked Racer Replica
kbalage replied to Alex Ilea's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingReally nice design! Although it fits better, I still doubt this battery box will be used in the production model - as far as I know it was never used in a Technic set before. I also wonder if Lego managed to make their design to run smoother without suspension.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAs the wings of the plane seems to be really odd, can it potentially have a variable sweep wing? I think it's fully retracted on the main picture, and the black section visible on the side could slide out to form a proper triangular shape with the back section when extended. That would be a cool function to control via PF :)

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
kbalage replied to CM4Sci's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt has to be right below the body sitting on the chassis. I really wonder if/how the 8881 battery box fits there, as far as I know the AAA box was never used in a Technic set before.
