Looks good! Would you be disturbed if I reverse-engineered it in Leocad for my Space Marines project?

Space Marines Cuusoo
I've decided to start creating sets in earnest for the Space Marines Cuusoo project. I'm not a great MOC builder, so I'm opening up the invitations for people to join the Flickr group or upload LDraw files here of vehicles and playsets that you'd like to see as a real set. If you upload digital MOCs, I'll produce a photoreal rendering so everyone can see what your idea's like in the flesh, so to speak, and I'll populate it with minifigs. Send some information about the set, too, if you want. This is your chance to make an AFOL-designed theme come true, folks!

Great to hear it, Saint. I don't think Brickarms or Brickforge would produce actual minifigures, and the color I used is a new one (medium sand red), so I guess my best bet is to get 9,990 more supporters. Does anyone want to see these guys in actual Lego form, whether as a limited-edition set or an ongoing theme? Now's your chance to make your voice heard! Support the Space Marine campaign on Lego Cuusoo!

Space Marines!
It's in early ideas stage right about now, but so far I'm thinking of it as a sort of real-time strategy game where you control a squad of Space Marines who are acting as a first-strike team on Fornax Twelve. Update: The first in a series of poster-quality Space Marine Guides: No. 1: Marine Equipment. Future editions include entries on training, rank structure, history, enemies, and combat operations.

Space Marines!
I just fired off a message. The Space Marines don't have armor insignia until the rank of Sergeant- the HUDs do it all. After that, the idea is that the NCOs should be readily visible if the power goes out.

Space Marines!
You know, these aren't just pretty pictures. If any of you know Blender, or would like to learn, you can download these guys and play around with them. I've set it up so that hopefully even a CG novice can pose and animate them pretty easily.

Space Marines!
Yes and no, actually. I do indeed have a targeting reticule printed on the minifig's face, but the HUD obscures it. Update: More pics! Squad Leader Profile Pic by HJ Media Studios, on Flickr A profile picture/avatar-style shot. It'd be nice if you'd let me know if you use it. A low-angle hero shot for the cool people. Real men don't bother with parachutes. Somethin's happening, but Gunny Stevens and Private First Class Kowalski have no idea what.

Space Marines!
Thanks, everyone. ETAV8R- I plan to join the USMC after graduation, so I've taken to using these guys as fun little flashcards to help me memorize ranks. P.S. Thank you for your service. People like you let people like me mess around with stuff like this.

Space Marines!
These classily-attired gentlemen are a set of Neo-Classic-Space Space Marines, defending the frontiers of the Federation against green-tentacled menaces. Their armor is loosely based off of the upcoming Series 7 collectible minifigure Space Marine, but the rest is a completely new design in Blender 3D by me. If you want to download these guys and play around with them, you can- the entire scene is available under a Creative Commons license on Blendswap. Enjoy! If these appeal to you, and you want to see them as an actual set, remember to support the Space Marines on Lego Cuusoo! Update 05/06/2012: A new header image for the Cuusoo project! Cycle of Violence
hjmediastudios replied to hjmediastudios's post in a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and ProjectsAll right. The minifig works best in the center due to the zooming, but I can easily make the whole thing slower and smaller.

Cycle of Violence
hjmediastudios replied to hjmediastudios's post in a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and ProjectsAnd here we go... The actual image I rendered was too large to upload, so I had to make do with a web-optimized version...

Cycle of Violence
hjmediastudios replied to hjmediastudios's post in a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and ProjectsI guess the demand is there. I suppose I'll just have to do it.

Cycle of Violence
hjmediastudios replied to hjmediastudios's post in a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and ProjectsSuperkalle: I suppose I could, but the render time wouldn't be worth the payoff. I am very glad, however, that it's already found a loving home on someones's desktop!

Recursivity Desktop by HJ Media Studios, on Flickr Just a CG picture I made. It's a minfig, playing with a minifig-minifig, who's playing with a minifig-minifig-minifig... It's minifigs all the way down. This has a suitable resolution for use as a high-quality desktop. Enjoy!

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
I wish they'd just keep the Stormtrooper print that they've had all these years. It's a good print that perfectly captures the "Stormtrooper" identity, yet it's not too detailed- I feel the big problem with a lot of these new prints is that they're straying from the stylized "Lego" look. It's almost like figures with noses... Besides, the new print means I'll have twelve old-stlye and twelve new-style troopers. The scout troopers, at least, will look consistent.
