A bit further down in that post it states the Modular Standards in quotes. One of them is After rereading this and the word optional counter-acts the latter. So I suppose I am wrong and anything goes so long as it is 8 wide. This is why I said the rules were sketchy. My apologies .

As a few have already said, I too have noticed quite a few that haven't read the voting rules properly in the way of the format of there voting post and also the Maybe highlight these again for people still to vote so there is no conflict at the end if any votes are close. The building rules were a little sketchy at the start i.e dark bluey side walk and some have still been accepted without this. Rules should be a little more enforced if they are going to be inplace.

I'd like to agree with LeeMcG too but i'm sure the moderators know what they are doing :) I was going to suggest way back when it started about having 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes instead of the big 1st prize because so many people were saying they would enter the competition and with so many fine entries that have been posted it would still be nice to see 3 people come out of it winners. I will to, apologise for speaking out of turn but sometimes good ideas come from the unlikeliest places.

wow, that looks like so realistic, the way you have arranged all the scrap into organized chaos makes it very life like. The security dogs are a real nice touch and they are what you would expect. The fence is brilliant and I can just imagine the kids trying to find a way in to have a play like we all did when we were younger. Well done, a fantastic entry for the competition.

I did consider whether to tile the floors but due to lack of lego and the limitations tiling can give you sometimes I decided not to. I think there is a lot of enphasis on tiling floors when there is no real need to. This build has used up maybe 90% of my lego bricks hence why I have had to swap and change the colour scheme from floor to floor but still trying to tie everything in so it does'nt look to out of place. I thought I would of had enough lego for this build to go the way I wanted it to and was suprised how fast you start to run out lol. Incase you don't notice some of the details, I tryed to make the canopy over the baywindow look like the front end of a car, it took me 5 different ideas before I settled with this. The heaters flame effect was inspired by the shooting discs you get from the Exforce sets, they have a yellow/red spirly pattern that looks like fire. I couldn't fit a mail box slot into my design without spoiling what I had. So i came up with the idea of the corner tile and a slope, which worked suprisingly well.

Thanks for the comments, the workshop is small but as the sign says it's just for dings and dents nothing major. So long as the owner can make enough money to feed his entertaining habit he's more than happy lol.

B-OM-32E Good day all, phew just made it in time lol. Well below is my entry for the Modular Madness catagory 3 competition. I remade this building so many times with loads of different ideas but found that sometimes, somethings need to be simple. The idea that I have finished with is a bachelor apartment above a small repair garage owned and operated by the same person. The main front view open for customers. Angled front view to show the sign. Rear view Ground floor Garage & roof entertainment area. 3rd floor main living area, 2nd floor snack machine for customers and the apartments bathroom. I hope you enjoy my first ever MOC (think I call it that) and I wish everyone in the competition all the best of luck. More pics can be viewed at Lego Trainee on Flickr

Hi all, now I have got a fair amount of Lego pieces I think I will be entering this one, which will also be my first time doing anything like this. I have just one question which was brought up before but not directly answered. With the building I have in mind, I would like to have the name of it on the front somewhere like some of the other modular buildings i.e. Pets or shop. The problem is making the name out of bricks would take up most of the buildings face, so am I able to make a decal/sticker with the name on it instead and attach that to the front of the building. Thanks.
  11. Great review and I have to say it's a really good looking model. Not sure if this has been said/asked or not but there seems to be a lot of stickers to this set, any chance of a picture of all the stickered pieces together and another of any printed pieces please.

Very nice review and pictures but does any body else see this as: Lego-"Hey bob here's some pieces, now make a set out of them" Bob-"Erm, ok, Can I use these as well to make it better?" Lego-"No Bob, these are all that's left of the other 3 sets we have built and we need a forth" Bob-"Erm, ok." Maybe it's just me but it just looks like a mash of left over pieces. Even the colours look mashed together.
  13. Nice design and colours well done. Just a bit confused about the winter over and spring is here lol. It's blinking freezing here going into winter hehe. Must admit that the new design does put a bit of warmth back into our dreary winter weather. Keep up the good work. Hopefully the summer theme might add even more warmth when we are in the minus figures.
  14. What I don't understand is why are they flogging SW to death ? The last film came out ages ago and yet they still bring out more SW sets at overpriced prices. Surely Lego's other titles like Indiana Jones or Harry Potter could do with a lot more sets to there names. Even now with the new 1st part of Deathly Hallows out all Lego have done that I have noticed is the Diagon Alley set which is too big for a lot of younger people and some older (like me) people to aquire. Lego have even done numerous remakes of the same vehicle like the MF I think 4 times this one has come out. I'm not suprised that you have changed your view on buying more of the same old thing.
