DOOSAN DL420-7 wheel loader
eric trax replied to eric trax's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThis solution takes up far too much space and still does not solve the basic problem - lack of precision. We're not getting off topic. That's a conversation for another topic.

[MOC] Liebherr LR 636 G8
eric trax replied to Bricksley's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt's amazing how beautiful a model can be built from bricks. It's incredibly realistic. The liebherr color scheme works in plus here. The white cabin makes the model much more pretty than the completely yellow machines. It works very well and that's about it. Congrats!

eric trax replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFor you yes. For the average lego user, no. We have a completely different view on this subject. You justify the problems of this system with patches created by kind people that improve its usability in some way. I say that its assumptions are wrong because it is simply too complicated for the needs of an ordinary person who plays with lego. Thats the point.

Lets "fix" powered up!
eric trax replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHow many people in your environment do you know who can configure it? I'm not saying it can't be done, but hardly anyone wants to learn such things. It should be readily available right now after unboxing the set. Yes, this is a system problem by design whole control+ concept. It should be as user-friendly as possible. The only elements that meet this condition are the small City hubs you mentioned. However, they should have 4 outputs for motor plugs, not two. Any model using more than two motors has to accommodate another hub, and this is often very difficult to do. P.S Don't you think that an application that allows such configurations should be given to us by Lego? If it wasn't for the people who created these apps, it still wouldn't be possible. This is another big lack that Lego has not supplemented, as well as information on how to configure their application with a description of the individual functions of programming blocks.

Lets "fix" powered up!
eric trax replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI know it, however, setting it up requires proper knowledge. Does the average Lego customer own it? NO. It's all about simple solutions that are understandable to everyone, not custom solutions for people who study this topic.

Lets "fix" powered up!
eric trax replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIs that captain obvious? :O From the beginning I use the C+ shortcut which means Control+ and no one have problem with this :D Lets be honest. The Control+ is mostly a duplication of the mindstorms system that few people used because of programming problems. It must be admitted that motors are easier to implement in the model. For a long time after the introduction of the new system, a lot of people did not know how to use it outside of official profiles in applications. Still a lot of people don't know how to set it up. This system is the opposite of the Lego idea where anyone can build anything from a kit and easily make it work. Another disadvantage is the cost of the C+ system. The components are very expensive. It's not about prices on the secondary market, but how they affect the prices of sets. The only one that had a relatively good price was 42100 where this system first appeared, but I assume that Lego priced this set at cost to convince customers to the new motors. After all, we all now complain that the Lego sets are too expensive I know that encoders in engines give a lot of possibilities and gearboxes in sets are a nice feature, but in general for the average customer they are very frustrating. In addition, the encoder uses a lot of space inside the motor, which makes it much weaker than the equivalent power functions The PF system was ready for use. You need a phone and an application that must configure the model and update profiles frequently. This is a real problem that cannot be solved. Once again. I know you can configure control+ to use a physical controller with the brickcontroler2 app but the average Lego user usually has no idea and is forced to use the phone. Just look at how people reacted negatively to Buwizz abandoning technic hub support for their app some time ago. End of the story :) How do you control Technic Hub without using your phone? I'm asking for a friend

DOOSAN DL420-7 wheel loader
I think I can finally say that I'm back to building 100%. I've been wanting to build a wheel loader for many years, but this project always fell lower and lower on the list of things to build. When I created the mock-up of the technic mine I realized it was time to finally build a decent wheel loader. Choosing the specific machine I wanted was not difficult. I always like to stand out. There have already been a lot of yellow machines, so why not an orange one? That's how I decided to build the Doosan DL 420-7: I started building the model in September 2022 and finished it in June 2023. Of course, there were 4 months break at that time for other models. The primary task in the design of Doosan was to make the model as efficient as possible. In my opinion, it worked very well and this is the final result. When I started building I gave up dummy engine almost immediately. I preferred to use this space for massive axles with portal hubs and a solid frame. The Doosans' drive is powered by the XL motor. Above it, there are two motors: L-motor responsible for turning and M-motor moving the bucket. At the beginning of the work I used Sbrick and a Lego rechargeable battery box. During the 16-hour tests at the exhibition, I decided that for even better effect and efficiency I would use Buwizz. Thanks to this, the model has space and the possibility of three control configurations. Sbrick, Buwizz 2.0 or CADA JV1010. The last L-motor lift the arm and it's located behind the front axle. When I made sure that the model works as I expected and removed a few minor defects that were revealed during the tests I started to make building instructions. In addition to a solid frame and pretty well working mechanisms, I wanted the model to look good. The large frame made it difficult for me. In some places I used optical illusions using black bricks. The shape of the arms is bit different compere to the real machine, but this was due to the geometry of the bucket stabilization system. I am happy with the good looking fenders. The rear ones should open but I chose a solid mount. The engine cover have a specific shape. The machine is partly orange, so I had to simplify its details a bit and make possibility to easily buy all the elements in this color. My favorite detail is the radiator grille and counterweight. As you can see, it has a tile on three sides and is mounted on pins. The side parts are build in creator expert style. An additional nice detail is the cabin, which can be removed as one part from the model. To increase the realism, I used RC - MIL SPEC 1.9 ZXL tires that perfectly match the lego technic rims. Below you can see photos and video. There is also a link to the building instructions which also includes motor wires. I spent 250 hours on the presentation and instructions, stickers (with Marton) and I'm curious if you'll like it :) Building instructions: https://reb.li/m/154471 Sticker pack: https://forwartsticker.com/termek/fws95-moc-154471/ Photo gallery: https://bricksafe.com/pages/erictrax/doosan-dl420-7 Video:

eric trax replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have the best idea. Stop produce C+ and bring back Power Functions + S-motor (3x3x3 stud). This will fix all C+ problems which was a bug by design it :)

eric trax replied to eric trax's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you guys!!! I spent a lot of time perfecting the look and I'm glad you like it! Thank you for paying attention! You are right should write WiLLys. I have a lot of fixing to do Correctly I should have written only Willys MB but I added Jeep so that everyone knows what vehicle I mean when they see the name of the topic.

Jeep Willys MB - Lego 10317 model B
I can finally get back to posting. I haven't shown anything new for a long time and it's time to change that! When I first saw the 10317 set (classic Defender) I liked it a lot but I wasn't going to buy it. All until I realized that it has 6 wheels and I can build a Jeep Willys with an M3 cannon out of it. I quickly drove to the Lego Store and started working on the model. The effect of the work can be seen below: The creator-style alternative model is something new to me. There are not many functions, because the Willys itself is not a complicated vehicle. However, it was possible to organize the suspension and steering control. To make the Jeep more attractive, I added a number of details such as: canisters, a radio station, an antenna, boxes with ammunition and tools, a Browning M2HB machine gun and, for dessert, a 37mm M3 cannon for destroying tanks. Below are pictures where you can see all the details. The model has few functions so I resigned from publishing the video. I must admit that I am pleased with the end result. Willys looks cool especially in this color and draped with gear. I regret that it was not possible to make an opening bonnet and dummy engine under it. Unfortunately, I sacrificed it for a more solid construction so that you can play with it calmly. [CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
eric trax replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes indeed. Micromotor has a very large reduction so it's to slow for the actuators. Micromotor - 342 rpm vs. M Pro Motor - 1340 rpm Interesting fact is micro ones are storng enough to move whole model without problem. The excavator weighs over 2 kg

[CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
eric trax replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMicromotor is not a new part. You weren't close To avoid guesswork, the electronics diagram looks like this: 1) Battery Box (undercarriage) - 2x Micromotor for each track 2) Battery Box (upperframe) - 2x Medium motor + docking station for the boom - 1x Medium motor for stick (2nd arm) - 1x Medium motor for bucket - 1x Medium motor for swing drive The excavator upperframe is not connected to the undercarriage so the excavator has no rotation limitation.

Technic 2023 Set Discussion
eric trax replied to Dami's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFunniest thing I've read on this forum. I must say that the pricing policy of lego has gone to the other side of the river. I don't think there's any chance of lower prices coming back.

[CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
eric trax replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI hope so I did my best to make this model surprise everyone. Yes you are right. The model has two battery boxes and seven motors. If someone doesn't like controlling the application, they don't have to worry. The set will also come with a physical RC remote control which I am as proud of as the model. Below is the look of the excavator control application in better quality. I still can't believe that people think only LEGO can get official licenses. CADA is entering this market very aggressively. JCB is a very demanding licensing provider and they don't give it to every toy. You can take my word for it. It was very demanding even for me. One hint I can tell you is that the excavator has a new part that @SaperPL and I designed especially for this set and many Technic AFOLs will love it as soon as they see it. If anyone doubts what I am saying about licenses, below is another page from the cataloge <mic drop>. One of these models may remind you of what I have built before.

[CADA] CADA General Discussion Topic
eric trax replied to Milan's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHi! This is one of the CADA changes in my first model for them. In the original Scorpion, instead of axle 4, I used Bar 3 (lego number 87994) which allows you to connect the elements you indicated in the picture. The upper liftarm is also moved further up due to the shape of the CADA drive motor. Here is the page from the original building instruction:
