LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
If you are looking into buying a popular UCS (or UCS style/size) set which currently has 2nd market asking prices wayway higher than original retail prices, only do so if one or both of the following is true: * money is absolutely no issue for you * you cannot - in any case whatsoever - wait between 5-25 months (depending on which specific set) to get your hands on it re-release order can also roughly be guessed by difference between original retail price & current 2nd market prices - the higher that difference, the sooner re-release is likely another -very obvious- factor: the closer a specific set in its original release form is to todays standards (and/or easily updated with new elements) the shorter its announcement-release timeframe will be all the same goes for creator/town houses/etc, btw.. expect less new set creations in that (and other) market segments for the upcoming years than we've been spoilt with the recent years. #beforeitsleaks

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
So, ok - first you can check out my very first posts from fall - the only reason i posted back then was to show exactly that. What i can say now is that there is this release slot in fall (which last year was the Disney Castle) and at the moment that seems like the highest possibility for the release date of the Falcon. As said my source is far far away from releasing procedures, it can't even give such info reliably (really important info e.g. design updates/new canopy mold yes or no - is also confident internally, btw), so i would consider myself not a primary source anyway but i am just another confirmation of rumors. I have once been given info about future releases which were cancelled in the process, so there goes that - hence i will only jump in once i see a rumor from another side and give another tiny confirm to it.

Yes i know sbdy working for TLG and i know about the Falcon since late August 2016. My source is not involved in the product release process, so i can't say anything sure about exact release dates, but I even know which big USD will be coming after the Falcon (probably then in 2018), but i am not allowed to state that here until that comes up as a rumor from another side and is mentioned by someone else first.

2017 is 40 years Death Star, MFalcon, ISD, X-Wing - Nr.1 is already ticked and some secondary stuff like Y-Wing and Landspeeder just get non-ucs sets. It doesn't look like they are going to pull off a Blockade Runner, but apart from that as much as possible of EPIV will be there in UCS boxes over the next 1,5 years. Especially the stuff which is easily to re-release without much updating necessary..

Generally about the re-releases of MF, DS, Landspeeder, etc, pp: We will see a lot more of those, just slightly changed and updated, re-releases of successful sets from the Original Sixtology and then later on of CW and Rebels. TLC is currently adapting to Disneys relentless release schedule with one major movie every year and quite some animated and extended stuff in between. The alternative to the updated re-releases of those proven sets would be no product in this segment at all - which is not a viable business option as the product portfolio has to be held steady in this segment. The current movie and current animated season is always top-priority in the product development, but the classic stuff needs to be on the shelves as well - who would argue? This should pre-empt all public outcry about set re-releases for the upcoming years and all the good old sets with updated minifigs that are to come again. P.S: Yes, i AM a bothan-spy, but i don’t need any of my spy-powers to come to this simple conclusion.
