  1. WOW! i have always wanted to build this MOC and now i can. thank you so much for all your work on this! bob
  2. I'll be at BrickFair this year. My wife is going to BrickWolrd. we should have a Technic meet up and a Technic draft at BrickFair. I had a blast hanging out with Paul and Randy in 2012. i have not built anything for a while so i don't have anything to bring, and it is always a toss up between bringing shirts or mocs. the shirts always win. bob
  3. The mechanism behind how this works is truly amazing! i'm glad the video showed some behind the scene prototyping. the fact that there is no NXT and no sensors, making this a brainless mechanism is really cool. at first i was wondering how it knew there was a ball there and that it should lift it up, then i saw how it worked. very smart solution. the stuff Akiyuki makes always amazes me! bob
  4. oh sorry did not mean to make it sound like there were glaring issues. i think it is more like inventories might be missing from Rebrickable. this part 6526 is only listed 1 time on Rebrickable and 9 times on Bricklink. bob
  5. only in 1 set ever. http://www.bong69.com/site/media/dl/onlyInOneSetEver.txt i cleaned up some of the noise. and noticed some errors. i'm blaming it on the database. bob
  6. here is the list of unique LEGO parts. all 14674 of them. Thanks goes to Rebrickable for making the data available to crunch on. http://www.bong69.co...ueLEGOparts.txt it was taking too long to load into mysql so i wrote a PHP script to sort and find all the unique parts. i do not guarantee the accuracy of this list, but some of the things i checked were correct. it really all depends on the correctness of the set inventories. bob
  7. got my instructions and i'm almost done pulling parts. hope to start building tomorrow. i did what paul suggested in another thread and trimed the pin long with stop bush to make the black bushings. bob
  8. amazing the level of detail you managed to pack into this! i want one!
  9. this allows you to use the worm gear: and the 16 tooth gear: to get a faster gear ratio. bob Thanks Philo! yes the lift is from my rolling ball clock. just taller. the video was posted before the photos. is it not working? bo i was going to loop and wind the track all around but the tube is to soft and does not hold curves very well. it does straight very good, so i just went with that. bob
  10. This is my first GBC module. I will be taking it to BrickCon in Seattle next weekend. i spent around 3 days working on it and just finished it up last night. my son helped a lot and i even got my wife to help put together some of the repetitive sub assemblies. This is the first non-set thing i have built in a long time! life has been so busy, i'm surprised i found the time to build it. i really wanted something to take and show off at BrickCon. one of my helpers The lift motor i got lazy and used a znaps flex axle to power the ball stirrer top of the ball lift the track splits into 2 tracks at the top. direction changer. i did not want to cut the tubing. wanted it to be one continuous piece.
  11. The 3.0mm OD i got held just fine in clips. even though it was softer. bob
  12. this stuff might work better. the tube i bought got here and it is not rigid. it is very soft and very bendable. it's not going to work the way i wanted it to. bob
  13. this is what i got. they only had 1. bob
  14. thanks guys. i just bought a 50M role on ebay. i trying my hand at a GBC module. hopefully it turns out so i can take it to BrickCon in a few weeks. bob
  15. Does anyone have a lead on a substitution for the lego 3mm rigid hose here in the USA. i'm looking for a whole role of 25' or more. thanks, bob
  16. this will not be an official event on the BrickCon schedule. but i would like to do a draft. so i'm trying to see if i can get a few people interested. if we can get enough interest, we will hold it on Saturday evening 7pm or 8pm in the main event hall. we need to know how many want to participate, which sets we should draft, and how many sets to buy. i will purchase the sets at the LEGO store in Seattle with the 30% discount. i'm also from Oregon so i usually do not have to pay the sales tax. this way everyone does not need to bring a $200 set and the buy in into the draft is much lower. i'm shooting for around $100 or less buy in for each person. so far we have: Bob YES Eric YES Daniel Maybe add your self to the list if you want to participate. and suggest the sets you would like to draft. i suggest we draft 1 copy of these 4 sets: 9396, 9398, 8043, and 8110. bob
  17. Is anyone intereted in a Technic draft at BrickCon 2012? I participated in 2 Technic drafts while at BrickFair this year. it was really fun hanging out with other Technic builders, and i got a nice pile of parts too. the first draft at brickfair was for 5 copies of 8110 unimog. 1 person purchased all the sets. then shares were sold at $20 each. you could buy multiple share and get multiple picks each time around. this way took a long time because there were over 30 shares sold so it took forever to go around and let each person pick. the second draft was done with 1 copy of each of the following sets: 9396, 9398, 8043, and 8110. 4 people participated in this draft. 1 person bought all the sets. the total cost was split up 4 ways. at first i did not think you could do a draft with 4 different sets but there are lots of common parts in all these sets. all 4 sets were opened up, dumped in 1 big pile and sorted. This draft was very quick with only 4 people choosing. Please post here if you are interested. bob
  18. Looking good! BrickCon is almost here. bob
  19. Looks Great in white! i think Paul's Porsche would look good in white too. but might not be possible now that all the white part are gone. bob
  20. Paul sent me new spoiler instructions last week. i like the tilt in the spoiler guess i did not follow the instructions corretly. The paint totally flaked off my painted flex axles. so painting them did not work. Santa's elfs sent me a set of real black flex axles. Thank you Santa! these photos were done with the real black flex axles. I took the time to take really nice high quality shots and also took the time to edit them correctly. i think the photos turned out nice too. bob bob
  21. I made the latest spoiler changes to my Vampire GT and took some photos to share. More photos here after moderation. bob
  22. My RCX software that controls PF motors can be found here look under the software section. please let me know if you need help getting it working. bob
  23. WOW i'm a huge VW fan. i've owned 8 of them so far. you did a fantastic job on this one. so many functions cramed into such a small scale. bob
  24. Yeah, there are not many of us Technic builders in the US. were you at BrickCon last year? thought i saw your backhoe there. i'll be at BrickCon this year too. i'm the BrickShirts guy selling T-shirts. bob
  25. I finished Paul's Vampire yesterday. and thought i would post a few pics. I hung out with Paul last weekend at BrickFair and he hooked me up with a set of the red chrome wheels. They look amazing on the car! I started with set 8070 and set 9395 and needed to pull about 775 parts from my collection. of those 775 i was missing about 40 parts mostly the new black panels. i also cheated on the black flex axles. i took some red ones and sprayed them black. not sure how long they will last. when i bent them into the curves they started to crack and peel. i need to find some plastic paint that has more flex in it. i also got a set of wheels to finish off my 8448 while i was at BrickFair from Randy Britton. now i have 7 super cars done. more photos here after moderation. The 8070 is the only car built from a purchased set. The 853, 8880, and 8448 were all built from parts I collected. Paul thank you so much for creating and sharing these very cool cars, and thank you to Eric for making such beautiful and easy to follow instructions! Looking forward to the Porsche instructions. bob
