  1. any ideas on making some mechanisms for the bottom block (mechanism as in pistons, conrods, cranks and crankshaft)
  2. sorry i forgot to upload the pics http://oi55.tinypic.com/2ngyk9k.jpg http://oi56.tinypic.com/xo4f9j.jpg
  3. Hi, i made a W16 engine by mounting 2 flat 8 engines on top of one another but the bottom engine is wider as the 2 blocks are spaces side apart more so the top flat 8 can sit in it to save height. (see images) i can get the top flat 8 working fine but when i tried to use either normal technic con-rods and cranks or my own custom made con-rods and cranks the thing jammed, i needed custom con-rods and cranks because the technic ones are too short for the gap between the bottom 1 blocks also im not sure but i think the custom conrods also got stuck on the outer rim of the block port/hole since the con-rods move up and down on a pivot a little. i also tried the technic ones with 2 crank shafts on the bottom but they got stopped by the obstructing top block I've tried using the different holes in the girders on the front and back of the engine but no luck so i need some ideas of
  4. probably not i think ill use the silver technik disks 2 posts above unless there is something slightly taller but still sleek looking also is there some disk that i can use to put over the middle bit of the inside of the rim (rim image at top of page)?, it would require having a larger hole in the centre
  5. yes, i would like to do it that way, i can just make 2 rear units and make one so the wheels can turn since i need 4 wheel drive i will see which mech is better out of the silver champion, the williams f1 car or the ferrari f1 1:8 car (the one with suspension) how would i go about getting all wheel drive? i have a diff i made myself that has 6 internal gears and can have another 2 outer gears (the 6 gears are housed) that i can use for the front and back
  6. ive tried them both and there too smsll
  7. hi what round thing can i use to replecate a disk brake i need a disk that is big and not really wide to go in the technik williams f1 car rims
  8. i dont get that statement, 'not feasible' means its not a good idea but then you said i would have more shocks availible etc if i did this, so will i do it or not? i attached a few shocks to the wishbones, some worked ,some did not but even if they did work the wishbones were moving up when compressed which means the floor etc hitting off the ground i moved it by hand so that the wishbones were diagonally angled so there was a gap and flipped the assembly upside down so the wishbones went up when it hit a bump but the spindle was diagonal therefore so would the wheel be, and also the shock was compressed when it was in the normal position (like on a flat surface) i tried making a custom which without a spring, it worked great but still the wishbones were moving wrongly. so i was thinking about using a similar idea here but modifying the assembly so there is a diff on the front and back and still have steering on the front the model in the link has all 4 wheel suspension. and i can try and modify it again , but making it stronger this way is like you were saying i think.
  9. whats the smallest lego axle you can get get that has threads on it? i could use the threads to adjust the spring rate.
  10. i was actually thinking the same thing too , i have the cymenders from the lego city green dump truck set, id need to buy a lego spring from a lego shock assembly (just the spring), any ideas where i can find one? the air would escape from the parts shown and so would fluid so it will have to be mechanical (as in spring)
  11. the first image the. shock is too short and the ssecond image is too wide and i havmt tried the third image yet because the one in LDD is compresed and therefore too short
  12. i was designing in LEGO digital designer before buying the parts and building it in real life and it was going well but now i have problems the suspension i originally used was a linear actuator but since this is so long wide and tall i have to mount it from the top wishbone mount to the frame next the diff (the wishbones are half the length of this actuator after doing that i knew there would be no pivot point of compression ,so the shock will never compress so i added diagonal mounts which went back into the corner of the bottom wishbone but that that would not do anything either so the shock wouldn't work i then tried to typically mount the shock diagonally (from bottom wishbone to top wishbone or from one wishbone to a mount so the shock compresses but the actuator didn't fit and the other ones were too short, can somebody give me an image of a shock that would fit (i need room for the axle to go through also since its an AWD (all wheel drive) vehicle unless i mount the shock outside of the wishbones instead of inside of the gap area of them.
  13. when i built the 8448 and added a v14 engine and 4 pull back motors and 1 electric motor i smashed a lot of gears in the diff, and the car kept on crumbling so yes you can have too much torque
  14. i will experiment when i order the tires and wheels, etc and see what happnes
  15. hi there, i am making a supercar from lego and i try and make it better each time i make a new one i have the front and reae units done but i need to prove the wheel balencing and tire so that it isnt as soft i dont mean thetoughness of the tire fo it being worn medium to super hard is what im looling for medium has average wear life and average grip strengh super hard has high wear life but low grip before i used the tyres and rims from the lego 8448 and put axle brackets under the tire ,it worked great because i had grip/softnes on the surface but low compression of the tire because the brackets stopped it this time round i want to the the rims and tyres from the lego williams F1 car becuse they have plenty of space for the disks and callipers to go inside of.and because they are a nice colour and becuse they are wide and grippy, they are not as tall as the rims and tires from the 8448 but they are wider and smaller wheels give more acceloration i dont really like how soft the tyres are because of the rims having a groove in the middle so i was thinking about going something like i did with the brackets on the 8448 rims so i started by making a loop of legi treads (these are treads that clip together like a chain for tanks and constuction vehcles after being told that they slid about sidewaus in the groove and that they hang loose and stick up too much i decided to ask for help, i need a brick/bricks that fit in that groove fine and dont hang looss and dont stick up too much (because the tire needs to seat properly also non expanding foam is like glue and i want to be able to take them apart and keep them clean
  16. i cant use expanding foam because it sticks and cant be cleaned off
  17. does the tread loop add any hight to the rim when attached?
  18. will it fall off the rim and is it flush with the outer tire grip grooves of the rim
  19. did you try taking a link out and did you attach them and not just place them also i need them to be trapped round the hub/rim/wheel not the tire
  20. yes i wanf to wrap them round thr rim not the outside of the tyre and will they fit on the rim without preventing the tyre to be seated as normal?can't i buy the tyres from a website like bricklink?
  21. hi i was wondering if i joined the chain track pieces together around the groove in the rim if it would fit like that, i need somebody who already has these parts to try it for me so i know before buying them i need the tyre to be seated as it would be without these track chain tread pieces and can you also tell me if the chain track elements are flush with the widest part of the rim (thats the two small ring chanels on both sides of the rim here is the parts http://www.peeron.co...=MetallicSilver http://www.bricklink...asp?P=32296pb02 http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=57518 (real colour [metallic silver] here http://img.bricklink...P/67/57518.jpg)
  22. *update* i am not using the Tyre support ring i am using the chain connections to fill in the dip in the rim middle so the Tyre doesn't compress as far down since this is a race-car it don't need super soft Tyre strength just medium or hard. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/22969?year=2006&color=MetallicSilver http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32296pb02 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=57518 (real colour [metallic silver] here http://img.bricklink.com/P/67/57518.jpg) lego BBS stickers (from Ferrari F1 car (non suspension version)(already acquired) http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61927c01 i don't think the track elements will fit either because the rim is 48mm wide and the track elements are 50mm can somebody tell me if they fit inside the rim groove
  23. theoretically it should fit by dimention because it is below the tyre inner diamiter and fits in the dip in the rim but if its plastic it wont pull over the rim can somebody tell me what the matirial of the Wheel 60 x 34 RC Inner Tire Support Ring (47082) Wheel it looks rubber to me i need this for my current project
  24. that helped, can the inner rim support fit on any of the rims i posted?
  25. which rims and tyres are in the ferrari enzo, ferrari f1,,ferrari f1 set (with the suspenion),ferrari 599 and williams f1 set and the silver champion and 8448 super street sensation also can these tyres fit any of the above rims Also what are the dimensions of these 4 tyres and 4 rims and can this be used on any of the rims
