I had this problem this evening. I am running on Mac with OSX 10.10.5, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB.
I have reinstalled (version 4.3) and have maximized Compatibility mode level in the Preferences. I was able to save, exit, and reload the model without crashing LDD.
