Bumping this thread with my newly completed build, thanks Thire for the amazing model! A very fun build, especially the edge panels!

Hello all, About three hundred years or so ago, I posted that I had finished my mods of this beautiful ship, and then never actually posted any pictures. Well, here it is. It could be better, but considering I put in one B&P order and had maybe 200 LBG parts on hand, I think I did the best I could with what I had. She’s now 9 studs longer and I believe either 6 or 8 wider, just by replacing the rounded edge with the 4x6 tiles. I smoothed her out, etc., and it’s now more scales to the size of the superstructure. I think it made it look much sharper. The bridge is now way smaller, the right scale to the rest of the ship, which makes the whole ship look a lot bigger. I cheated on the shield generators, there was no piece to hold the ball and socket pieces together, so I drilled a hole in one of the little tires that fit perfectly... in one side. So now both sides of the tire have a hole in them, and it looks great and holds them well. The bridge is also lower, which is more scale. There’s more gaps in the front, but I think it was worth it. Then I made the hangar bay the right size and added a sort-of scale hangar. I know I could definitely do better when I decide to order some different pieces. There’s so many compound angles here that I had to choose where I wanted my gaps, obviously you can see where. Honestly tho I think I was pretty ingenious in how I attached the whole thing on there, there was definitely some brain-scratching. Thanks for looking, hope you like!

Is it just me, or is Bricklink worse since the Lego takeover? Before, I was looking at around $200 for Jerac's Y-wing and other similar sized MOCs from maybe 5-7 sellers. Now, it seems like I would spend more like $400 from more than ten to fifteen sellers... Kind of annoying, since I don't want to buy anything at that price

Does anyone know why all these TIEs seem to be harder to buy parts for recently? Used to be the parts for an interceptor were about 100-120 dollars, but now it seems like it's more around 150-200 with upwards of ten different stores

Awesome, thanks! Does anyone happen to have one of those comparison pictures that shows the outline of the studio model on top of the lego model, that shows where the main areas are different? I can't seem to find one anywhere...

As of the TLJ MF set 75257, they do exist in LBG. It might take a little bit for them to get on Bricklink, but they're there. That's interesting what you said about the docking rings being too short, I may have a look at that in the future but for now I think that particular issue is last on my list. It may simply look better if I make the lower DBG ring around the turret base LBG, I'm not sure why they made it half dark and half light. I think I will ignore the inner angle of the mandibles for now, because I've never noticed it before in my life until you said it, so I think that's a minor issue lol! Thanks for the resource and all your help, the only question I think I have for the moment is how your connection system works for the hull plates to make the studs radially aligned?

Yes, there's no way that's real. My bet is that it's either a scam, or they're using LEPIN pieces.

Hello everyone; I just got this set built and on Efferman's stand yesterday, and looking forward to starting the mod process. I'm going to go with a more accurate exterior rather than an interior, so this is a short list of planned changes: 1. The gun turrets are too tall, they need to be 1 stud tall/wide/whatever rather than 2 studs tall to sit flatter on the hull. 2. The mandibles need to move forward a bit and the central section elongated so that the forward hull can be the same diameter semicircle as the back. 3. I'm going to strengthen the frame so that it can be carried by the docking hatch areas rather than the bottom. 3. Add more detail on the bottom, cover gaps, and make the hull a more uniform color for the ESB look. They have a large mix of colors but the Falcon is actually a much more uniform light gray. 4. Add more tiled areas to lessen the texture difference between the cockpit and access tunnel and the hull. A lot of people think the Falcon shouldn't be smooth, but open studs are, I think, more accurate because most details on the model are too small for a Lego representation. Especially viewed from further away, the Falcon looks more smooth than stud-y in my opinion. 4. Redo the engine like everyone else 5. Hopefully use some of ScottishDave's hull designs so that the plates are more radially shaped, because a lot of the Falcon's details are radial from the center. 6. Add landing gear flaps to make them look retractable. Does anyone know if the new 4x6 wedge plates are better for the mandible angles, or would we need like a 3.5x6 wedge plate? The current method makes the mandible sides look a little curved, because of the way the 3x6 plates have to be moved out of line to cover gaps.

Do you guys think it would be possible to apply the method from the new MF set that has no hull gaps?

How do y'all think Star Destroyer MOCs will change now that there are 4x6 wedge plates in LBG?
