New guy here with my Lego collecting “rules of engagement”
Hah! Glad it works for the Toastie family. Unfortunately my wife has a similar fabric buying habit so neither of us have a leg to stand on with the other. It’s both good and bad! Sticking to a strict monthly or annual budget is the only way to go for us.

42145 - Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter
Chmashdehjare replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI jumped on Costco.com a couple of days ago when I read this and was disappointed they didn’t even have it listed. Then I forgot all about this until I just happened to be shopping there today. Yep, a whole shelf of the helicopters at USD $169.99. I don’t often see price breaks on full retail in a US shop.

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
hmm, I thought that was directed at me.

42143 - Ferrari Daytona SP3
Chmashdehjare replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI was building a set with my 9 year old grandson this afternoon and he was struggling a little bit as he’s color blind. I’m not so I don’t know what all is the issue. I assume it’s a small percentage but I wonder if helping out those who are color blind is also driving the color vomit.

[WIP]: Helicopter Swashplate
Chmashdehjare replied to technicfanatic's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have the mechanical aptitude of a ... well, I don’t know, but I don’t have any (Penguin with oven mitts on?)! Pretty cool looking build, though, very impressive. Large, but probably not very shrinkable without special purpose parts. I am looking forward to the new helicopter coming up. i mostly just had to comment on your “inordinately gleeful” comment. It completely tickled me! Great turn of phrase.

Rant: the trend of hoarding LEGO and the pivot to showpieces
I will admit to being a “hoarder”. I could build for a long time out of the unopened sets hidden away in what my wife feels is every room in the house(!). But, I’m doing that because I’m retiring soon and enjoying slow builds at that time is one of the things I’m looking forward to and don’t have the time to do now. I’m aware that if I don’t buy in the first year or so of a model’s availability, it will be hard to get later. So I buy and hide away for the time a few months from now when I’ll crack open the Old Fishing Store and finally build it. Then move on to the next one. Just yesterday I went to the local Lego Con. I don’t think MOCing is going away any time soon. Was very envious of the skill and creativity in the awesome builds I saw there.

Brunojj1's mind-opener - red supercar - free instructions now available for static version
Chmashdehjare replied to amorti's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingJust got mine in the mail, so excited. I was noticing in Sariel’s review and his build video that he was gloved up. I’m not likely to follow suit, but was wondering if that was a reflection of concern over lead in the parts. I’ve heard that expressed as a concern for non-Lego out of China.

Brunojj1's mind-opener - red supercar - free instructions now available for static version
Chmashdehjare replied to amorti's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingJust finished getting through all 23 pages of this topic, which I bookmarked a while ago. Got together some spare cash and bought the motorized version. I can’t wait for it to arrive; I’ll be like a kid in a candy store!

Technic 2022 Set Discussion
Chmashdehjare replied to Technicallism's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYikes on 42146! And this from somebody actually considering picking up the Titanic set (if it’s ever in stock again). C+ just doesn’t do it for me, I have no interest whatsoever. I was very interested in the Osprey with the “dumb” battery box, hope 42145 may have something similar (I’m a sucker for aviation Technic!).

Lego’s new wish list
I’ll admit I’m a little slow. I didn’t see any announcement when Lego recently changed their list format on shop.lego.com so I was a little worried that my wish list was gone! But now that I’ve figured the change out, I am having some new trouble. I’m trying to add 42128 to a wish list, and it won’t add it no matter what I’ve tried. The web page brings up my list of wish lists, and then when I check the one I want it briefly says “Added to Wish List” but then removes the coloring of the heart and doesn’t actually add it. Anybody else experiencing this problem? I tried 42123 and it added it just fine, I’m just having the problem with 42128. It doesn’t appear to be that it’s Out of Stock because I tried another set that’s also not available and it added it (would be a strange wish list if you couldn’t add out of stock items to it). So is it just me? What am I doing wrong? Thanks. Alas almost everything on my wish list is out of stock.
