LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Black and blue astronauts! With a small base set, since Galaxy Explorer is missing it.

[MOC] Classic Space referenced CMF display
Good work! It’s sorely missing actual Classic Space minifigs though, with an appropriate blue and trans-yellow backdrop

42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245
Wonderpants replied to AndroTech's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt does in fact jam a bit when turning by hand, but it gets worse when just putting the bare turntable in place (ie no crane arm parts or hoses at all) and using the motor to turn it. And of course it’s worse still when the entire crane is in place.

42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245
Wonderpants replied to AndroTech's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI brought the Arocs last weekend and have been building it, but the crane turntable is proving a real pig. I’ve rearranged all the hoses quite a few times and played around with the crane base build, but whatever I do, it seems to slip and grind when turning. It seems to turn quite easily by hand, and the drive train it connects to works very freely when the crane is removed, so I can’t work out what the issue is. Anyone able to help?

Favourite sets that you own
1. 6990 Monorail. Surely the pinnacle of Space sets? Sold my childhood copy for a knockdown price some years ago (to someone who took a bit of advantage IMHO), and now regularly myself for it. Still, I now have another one, and with 6921 and 6347 to boot. 2. 6932 Star Defender 200. A great and underrated set. Sleek, swooshable, and eyecatching. Will be modding this to fix some issues. 3. 6890 Blacktron Invader. As #2 4. 75192. It’s the Millennium Falcon. What else needs to be said? 5. Saturn V. A thing of beauty. 6. 10212 Imperial Shuttle Tyderium. So graceful and hardly looks like Lego. 7. 10300 Delorean time machine. Something I’d been waiting for a long time, specially given how poor the 2013 one was, and that Ecto-1, the 1989 Batmobile, etc, all got more love. 8. 10278 Mack Anthem. Great value and a fine display model. 9. 70816 Benny’s Spaceship. A modern version of a Classic Space set, a theme which doesn’t get nearly as much love as it should. Where’s our equivalent of Barracuda Bay or the rumoured 2022 Castle set?! 10. Last but certainly not least, Galaxy Explorer. The granddaddy!

[MOC] The Return of The X-Wing
Is there a list just of the extra parts you need to build this if you already have a V1 X-wing?
-
[MOC] The Return of The X-Wing
My V1 probably needs stripping down and redoing. ;) Anyone know if a lot of extra parts are needed to make V2 if you have the V1?

Do you have the 3k piece Cobi set? Would be interested to see how it measures up alongside this beast

[MOC] Star Wars: The X-Wing Story
Is that a Wicked Brick stand you’re using for 75218? Does it fit the Jerac design?

Tydirium Mod, New Cockpit, Completely Closed Hull
Are there instructions for this? How well do the motorised wings work? I remember seeing someone else’s attempt to motorise them and they had a problem with the motors not being powerful enough or the wings flopping down when lowering or being slow when raising. edit: Never mind, just seen your video. Still slow and quite jerky movement.

Classic Space is Awesome
No grey spaceman?! (Torso was in one of the minifig waves)

Benny's Space Squad 70841
It’s a shame that Lego never followed up on the Space Squad with a set containing a red, black, and a proper blue astronaut, perhaps with a slightly more elaborate mini build to compensate for the missing 4th astronaut figure. A ground vehicle perhaps?

75936 T-Rex Rampage mod
I thought the stock head on Rexy left something to be desired, so after the stock build was finished, it was time for it to go to the chop shop. And a few hours later, Rexy has a new head! The tiles along the top of the head have been lowered to make the eye ridges more prominent, the sides of the upper jaw have been slimmed and curve towards the top of the snout, and the lower jaw has been rebuilt to get rid of the irritating grey piece and make it less square.

Power Functions newbie help
Wonderpants replied to Wonderpants's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes, I saw that already, but I was really wondering if Powered Up, SBrick, etc would be a better bet than Power Functions, since that’s a couple of years old now

Power Functions newbie help
Wonderpants replied to Wonderpants's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks! Just looking for a fairly straightforward RC system (driving, steering, and maybe the crane and outriggers on the trailer) that I’ll occasionally use, so probably no need to get into complicated programming with the Powered Up stuff.

Power Functions newbie help
I’ve been toying with adapting my 42078 Mack to be R/C, but I’m not sure what to go with. Apparently Power Functions is being retired and replaced with Control+. Would it be better to use Control+ for better future proofing, or is Power Functions still good enough, have enough of a base, etc? And then there’s apparently a couple of third party options like buwizz and Sbrick. How do these compare to the Lego options for price, versatility, etc?

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
Wonderpants replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHow did someone get so many of them?! At least Smyths had the wisdom to restrict them to one per click and collect order, which stopped opportunists from grabbing too many of them.

42078 Mack Anthem Mods and improvements
Wonderpants replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingJust brought this set a few days ago and am thinking about mods. I’ve seen a lot of mods to motorise it or build some MOC trailers, but I’ve not seen any mods to give it a proper sleeper cab or address some other issues

My first Lego space display
Hmm, I think I’d have the landing pad plate to one side. That way you have two whole crater plates to make a continuous display for small vehicles and ships. Do you find that the different Space styles (classic, Futuron, Space Police, etc) work together? I had been thinking of just using classic space sets to fit with Bennys spaceship and the space squad, but after seeing the various sets together, they don’t look too bad.

My first Lego space display
Nice work, am planning something like this myself. Personally I’d turn the base plate on the right so the raised part isn’t separating the figures on either side, and maybe use some plates, slopes or quarter circle bricks to join the two base plates rather than the dark grey plate. Something like this:

10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle Mod
Redbird, are you able to send me the instructions too? btw, do the landing gears on your shuttle fold up at all or are they fixed in place?
