Great work, Batbrick! I'm a sucker for well-executed foliage and I love your man-eating plant I like Poison Ivy's flowerbed too, although I am not sure about the 2x2 red plates. Still, the overall shape is very pleasing and the whole scene has a wonderfully campy menace to it
  2. Thanks for the news, grogall! This looks like a fun little build with a splash more colour than other Architecture sets. I'm sure many will want it, if just to recreate explosive scenes from 'Independence Day'

Newshound Grogall brings Eurobricks news of a brand new LEGO Architecture set - 21006 The White House! Click on the picture to see more views of this great set and discuss it in our Other Themes forum!
  4. It's hardly a must have, especially with a new line just launched. The 4 exclusive figs including giant trolls are the best part. It's not bad by any means, and quite nicely designed, but the grab-bag mix of colours doesn't do it any favours. The gate and front two towers are the best parts.
  5. Yes, metalandi was contributing to the discussion, so this was far from a useless bump. It's very interesting to revive this thread in light of the new Castle, which seems about the same size as the Fortress but is $20 more expensive here Funny how these 4-walled castles are everywhere now, from the official line to Prince of Persia.
  6. Thanks for the link, riddler-man! I wasn't expecting this just yet. Keep us posted in future
  7. I went to DJs today, and it was just for cardholders. They did have some sporadic discounts - TS wave 1, Racer sets, Power Miners... No discount at Myer either, though I did see a 10210 Flagship at least
  8. Stateside Bricklink sellers are selling individual hairpieces, torsos and accessories for $US1-2 a piece, and in the States they only cost $US2 a bag, so you can see that there is money to be made on these things
  9. Is Myer still having a toy discount ongoing during stocktake sale? And is the DJs 25% off for everyone or just their credit card holders?
  10. Svelte replied to def's post in a topic in LEGO Licensed
This set is ludicrously overpriced everywhere but the States. It's hard to recommend on that basis alone. (In the US, the price for Alamut & the train are the same, but in Aus Alamut is $140 and the Train $160, which tips it over the mental 'That's too much!' point for me.) That said, I largely agree with your review. I like the non-humanoids, hate the TS human heads. Is this the most ironic & self-referential set ever? A LEGO toy train based on a movie version of a LEGO toy train which they would never release as a standalone set with that aesthetic today When I built it I tipped all the bags out together (which I always do) which makes the build seem more complex. It is simple, but I also assume that's why TS3 is the only non-stickered line out there - maybe that specific age range hates them as much as we AFOLs generally do? As an aside, I really don't understand how this set (and the other TS ones) can have so many different types of printed parts (doors, tiles, bricks) and yet uber-expensive themes like Star Wars are still horribly stickered all over What I really liked about this train was the old-skool LEGO look (even if its somewhat mythically misleading considering they haven't produced a set that even vaguely looks like this for 30 years) and that it is very solid and brick-built - very few Technic-shenanigans in this straightforward build, and lots of great parts.
  11. Eurobricks Academy Teacher & Fellow def brings us a crystal-sharp review of the Toy Story 3 7597 Western Train Chase set Click on the pic to check out this brilliant review in our LEGO Licensed forum!
  12. There's a lot of new stuff on S@H, including TS3, all the Games, the full Kingdoms range ($170 for the Castle ) and the Train stuff. No Star Wars, SP or Atlantis yet. http://shop.lego.com/whatsnew/productslaun...5&ShipTo=AU
  13. I would have thought they'd save the Exclusives for the big Toy Sale which will come up soon - why would they put them out on stocktake, which is for clearance? The 25% off is just a one-night deal on Toys anyway, although I imagine there will be sporadic discounts at other times.
  14. And the winner is.... Rick! Yays for Rick! Nice cherries, Rick. Did they inspire you in any way? Where did those cherries come from anyway? What monkey business is going on in these forums? I don't understand. I need a shower *sobs*

Yes, I agree on this 100% It managed the time-reversing aspect perfectly whereas often in movies it is pretty lame. I am pretty happy with the sets. It could be worse. They could have invented a whole line of fake vehicles that weren't in the movie It's a shame we probably won't see a wave 2 - I would love to have more Alamutian guards and there was such a wide scope of costumes and scenery it seems a shame we're kind of left with the blue-themed Hassansins and just a few dark red guards.

It's happy birthday for everyone's favourite bucket-loving sea mammal! Happy birthday Mr Sieggy! Do you get another cake after yesterday's cheesecake or is cheesecake the only birthday cake that cakey birthday dreams are made of? How do you put cheesecake in a bucket, anyway? What about beefcake! And where are the secret pics of you and the 10211 Grand Emporium? So many question! So little time! I am sure Sandy will be along soon to do a little dancity-dance for you.

I like the red one, for his evil expression, more menacing expression and deadly lightning staff Greeny kinds of look like he's playing dress-ups with a fake beard plastered on.
  18. Thanks for the tip! Now that PoP month is done I'll be updating the new reviews etc we've had in the last month or so.

I was beginning to wonder if you'd suffered MOCathlon fatigue... Good to see this project under development

I would agree that makes sense except that the Story page on S@H lists him as Gool the Hassansin too, and there was *one* character in the movie who wielded a scimitar. SATC2 features a mostly desert location (Dubai), a creature who wishes it could turn back time for its own purposes (Sarah Jessica Parker), lots of CGI work (Sarah Jessica Parker, again), and terrifying man-eating snakes (Samantha!) so you could probably just see one and pretend you saw the other

Thanks Alywin! That alt build isn't as cool as the entries in our contest but still good I went and saw the movie today and it was much better than I expected A solid, entertaining romp with a great mix of humour, action and adventure without being too long or over-the-top. It looked very solid and real too for the most part - not too CGI-ish - and it was lovely to see all that amazing Arabic architecture. I thought I would dislike Gemma Atherton from the trailer, but I really enjoyed her banter with Jake Gyllenhaal and to see a strong female character on screen! I don't know why so many people are giving the movie such a tough time - it's supposed to be a fun adventure and it is! The costumes and locales were beautiful and it was one of the rare films where the use of a 'wind back time' device actually didn't ruin the plot and was well-integrated. As for the LEGO sets - I thought the designers did a great job in capturing the essence of the movie and adding to the play value. The minifigs and animals are especially great - the Hassansins are perfect (especially Gool and that one-eyed dude) and I loved that Dastan's horse in Desert Ambush was in its blue livery for most of the film. The Alamut set manages to include the gate, boiling oil scene, and the beautiful white and gold Alamut palace (and even its sloping exterior stairs), not to mention all the parkour elements which feature prominently in action sequences. Sure, there's no giant saw as a trap, but the rest of the Quest Against Time was pretty good too, and I love that Nizam inserts the dagger and lights up the Sands just as we see on-screen. Actually the most disappointing aspect for me was that the Dastan fig we get in most of the sets really looks nothing like the outfit Jake wears onscreen I wouldn't have minded if we saw some figs of Dastan's brothers, too. All in all, enjoyable film and great sets!
