Summer Agents 2009!
Thanks for the find, Algernon! To be honest Agents isn't doing too much for me. The vehicles look like a step backward. I know these are prelims, but they look fairly advanced - and where's all the lovely metallic silver gone? Inferno's mech is the best to me but even that doesn't look like it would have gone astray in the Exo-Force line. The civilians are excellent though! Mayhem! Murder! Destruction! About time! SPIII on the other hand....

Storm Lasher is OK. I love the little fly thing. Actually, that was the only reason I bought it Technic prices are a bit spiky. $20 for that tiny bulldozer! Ouch. There goes my dream of doing a Russian doll set of dozers If everyone is buying CW minifig packs, how long are prices going to hold up? The ebay 10186 General Grievouses that went on sale peaked very quickly and flatlined once the half price stock flooded the market ISC, I don't even know how you can think about buying Lego when you're moving house. I'm having pre-emptive nightmares about packing for the next move myself! Similarly, natelite, if you're thinking of fleeing Chatswood, what are you going to do with your collection if you take a job OS?

It's been at that price for almost a week and started showing up a few days ago as 'Sold Out', so I was surprised to see it *was* still available earlier today. They probably discovered another pallet or something so there was only a limited quantity around. I'm surprised with your startling powers of deduction you didn't notice this ISC *cough* new City magnet set already frontpaged *cough* I agree with natelite, it was kind of a sucky set anyway. Just think of Shanghai Chase as being the same, except with cooler vehicles and minus a giant 'meh' tan garage.

REVIEW: 7637 Farm
Intriguingly, in the Aus/ NZ catalogue, the yellow antennas have been deliberately Photoshopped out of this charming bucolic scene. How bizarre! They don't normally Photoshop out brick-built scenery (eg the Construction diorama backdrop is intact) so I can only conclude there is something about yellow antenna pieces TLG would rather us not know.... I don't think it's immediately obvious from the pics, but this set is a great parts pack. There's lots of nice pieces in rare colours - lots of the white wheel spoke pieces, the red-brown fences and ladder, the tan fedora, the new window in yellow, the new windscreens, the old inverse windscreens in red, the dark red curved panels... even a blue bucket for Sinner! I can see why people aren't keen on the red roof tiles but in terms of playability they work wonderfully to allow access to the buildings. The yellow and blue trailer is also a far better build and far stronger and more playable than the Dump Truck version - all using clip hinges and not Technic pieces! One thing I would have liked to have seen would be the replacement of the 2x3 yellow bricks. Even a similar shape made from 1x2 yellow log bricks would have been a bit more naturalistic. Also, the cat looks a bit weird without the usual Belville print job. The Cat With No Eyes... it will haunt my dreams tonight.

Well, if anyone is buying this just to stock up on Space figs, I'll take the classic mailman and Sinner will take the ninja! To be honest though I'm a bit concerned about the incorrect positioning of the Classic Space Logo in Vol 2. To be honest I'd rather bricklink old ones with the correct look rather than buy the new Dodgy Bros versions. I'd want to see some photos other than the one we've had a look at. And is it just me or is that shot surprisingly unprofessional looking for an official S@H product image?

Question: Agents Mobile Command Center
Neither Amazon UK nor Amazon US ship anything other than books, CDs or DVDs internationally. You can add Lego sets to your cart, but when you get to checkout you will be blocked from proceeding. See here for more info about shipping policies. To be honest, the poor Aussie dollar doesn't make US stores particularly attractive at the moment anyway. I bought my 8635 off bricklink when it first came out early in the US before the crash and even then it was cheaper than buying it from Shop at Home (with standard shipping), and I got it in about a week. Buying it now would cost about $AUD260. Ouch! Even hobbyco and online retailers like bttw seem to be out of stock with this one. However Lego Australia may know if any stores still have stock here - 1800 683 100

REVIEW: 7746 Single-drum roller
Yes, the minifigs are boring but City 09 is spectacularly unspectacular in that department (at least, so far.) The build is OK as well. I also actually think that the speckle wheels as used in the Tower Attack set would be aesthetically more interesting than dark bley, and would add to the effect of asphalt being rolled in the construction of roads and so on.

Worst Minifig Heads
Easy! I think this one is particularly overused in 2007-2009: Click here for the peeron list. In the Jan 09 wave alone it's in Pirates: Loot Island & Soldier's Fort, the Castle Building set, City Farm 4WD with trailer, BBQ Impulse, City Construction Site... In 2007 it was in another small creator set, Coast Guard, Advent Calendars, Garbage Truck, City Harbour... and the list goes on. Forget about Star Wars Battle Packs; if you really want to build an army of clones, hire this guy's agent

Well Vintage Minifigure Collection 2 is up at Shop at Home for the unusual price of $AUD16.99. Unusual since it's earlier sibling is still there at $AUD29.99 Lord knows how long it will stay at that price. It would be nice if S@H had consistent release dates rather than spreading things like the CW magnet sets and this over the period of a week or two in consideration of buyers that actually pay substantial shipping rates...

Happy Birthday to....
Kangaroo is too gamey! Croc is apparently very like fish. That fearsome exterior hides a watery and delicate interior. I'll find out soon! A quiet night tonight as I'm having a long birthday weeked in Melbourne but I better log off before KimT reprimands me Thanks also for you kind wishes WhiteFang, ISC and everyone else who stopped into this thread!

Question: Agents Mobile Command Center
It's been and gone. Much like King's Castle Siege, I doubt it will be restocked. K-Mart and Myer had it on sale for $99 as a special promotion a few months back, and some others had it cheap as well. It isn't in the 2009 Aus/ NZ catalogue either, which makes me think we won't get a re-release at a retail level.

Happy Birthday to....
Thanks everyone! I had a blue brick cake last year. It's amazing how well a marshmallow can substitute for a stud Erds, this year I'm having Schwartzwelder Kirschtorte. With your strawberry heritage you should know what that is! As for dinner, well.. I'm having this (the animal, not the part): I am sure this will go some way to dispelling the myth of Australians as Steve Irwin wannabes

To all Aussie and NZ fans of Lego!
Don't confuse the issue. The creators of this forum are not discriminating on the basis of race, but on the basis of geography, as they are perfectly entitled to do. Indeed, that's exactly how most LUGs are organised.

Well, I'm flattered you chose this thread to debut in You can also post a new topic here to introduce yourself to everyone Dr Inferno's popularity lives on! Maybe people are searching the forums for the mysterious 09 sets The poor Seabase. It only finally got dismantled last weekend. However I have a new supervillain base planned for Dr I which I hope to start work on soon. All the MOCing around the traps here at EB has been very inspiring.

On the upside, the Monster Dino is now backordered 14 days, so you'd have to wait 14 days for it to ship. Actually, that raises a question- if you have Express shipping (or order over $800) and buy something that is backordered, do they ship the majority of the order first and then the backordered items at a different date? Anyone know?

A terrible blow to an adult fan of lego?
I know exactly what you mean. When I first came out of my dark ages, I was very concerned about perceived value, price per brick etc and was very selective about what I bought (it helped that I came out before Lego's design Renaissance so options were limited anyway ). When I first posted at EB, I probably felt the same way and remember discussing the US price advantage and feeling disgruntled (waaaay before the Australian dollar crashed). I think at some point I just accepted that yes, Lego is an expensive hobby, but if I want this set (whichever one it was) then an extra $10 or $20 here and there isn't going to break the bank. I would rather buy a set and enjoy it fully than sit, rocking in a corner, feeling guilty/ angry/ betrayed that Lego released a product that didn't fit my idea of a perfect price/ piece count. I think the general 2009 prices and especially the Solar Sailer teeth-gnashing is indicative of this. Sure, it's different for kids but as an AFOL I don't see why we should get worked up over a few dollars here and there. Similarly, I am not one of those people who will refuse to buy anything until it goes on sale. I enjoy sales as much as anyone, but I like to get enjoyment out of sets as they come out. I wouldn't have the patience, like some do, to sit staring at a set I wanted on a shelf and waiting a few weeks just to save 15% or 20% off (That said, if I buy multiples I usually buy at a discount). Lego is a hobby that you should not feel ashamed or traumatised by. If some checkout clerk makes a snide remark, then that says more about them than it does about you. To be honest, I can't really remember anyone commenting in a negative way when I've bought Lego in stores. Retail staff aren't usually paid enough to care! And each of us, every one, has our own secret pride and passion, our own individual hobby which we treasure above all else, so on that level I think there is a general empathy for the interests of our fellow human beings.

I don't think any of the SW stuff has been available half price for a while - when they reduced the remaining sales stuff to 50% off, all the prices dropped, even from Sold Out items.
