Castle sets 2008/2009
If they're showing solid, 3D, bricky preliminaries at a retailer's toy fair, they are not going to vary *that* much from the finalised product. There may be minor changes but the design of the Troll Fortress must be pretty much set.

Sadly, without his magic beard, Gandalf's powers were non-existent.

10193 Medieval Market Village
Both the tan and blue can be easily substituted. Note I made a mistake above - I meant 1x4 arches, not 2 x4 - finding those in rare colours is probably the trickiest part. That little blacksmith would look cool but I think the colours are out of place (old greys and browns). You could probably make your own version in newer colours with the right door and window pieces etc. As I said upthread, I think we are going to see a lot of sweet little MM specific buildings

10193 Medieval Market Village
I meant when they sold it at K-Mart - they jacked it up to $159 before they dropped it to $129. GG is a fun set, with some nice pieces, don't stress For $65 it's a good deal. The good thing about the colour scheme of MM is that the blue is all 1x1 and 1x2 bricks with a few 2x4 arches thrown in, so if you have enough of another colour you can always replace it. I want to do a version in dark red but I don't have enough of the smaller bricks. Town Plan owners could probably do a version in dark green.

The cherries' angry cousins - the cranberries - formed a saucy plot to overthrow the reign of the Turkeymaster.

10193 Medieval Market Village
Buy it from S@H before they jack up the price. Like they have now with the Volkswagen, General Grievous, Taj Mahal, and Death Star. I bet they whack it up to $AUD200 here if it does go to retail I built this a week or two ago and the only thing I'm really not keen on is the medium blue colour scheme of the second building. It just doesn't seem quite right. It is a nice set though

Indy 2009 Discussion Thread
You might be on to something there. I don't think the width will be adjustable, but maybe the plates are solid and the tracks themselves are of the softer, more pliable plastic to allow more angles up and down hills etc. I like how casual Indy in the Temple of Doom is cool enough to be holding an orange icey-pole while travelling in the mine-cart. He's all like 'Certain death? Whatever! I still have time for a refreshing snack before I defeat the bad guys.' Or maybe he thinks he's on a rollercoaster ride at Disneyworld

Watch your back!
I love the flying rock monster - it looks like he's diving into a mosh pit Clever technique to hold him in place as well. I like the glinting rock crystals and especially the differently angled 1x1 slopes in the lava section - it gives the area a bit of texture. Nice work, Erds.

Space Police 2009!
All Clone Wars merchandise was embargoed until July 26 to coincide with the launch of the movie; that wasn't Lego's decision, it was LucasArts. I doubt this issue applies this year and hopefully we should see a consistency with summer releases that we have seen with previous years. Maybe a few themes will fall either side of the divide (like Farm seems to have done with the first half of the year releases) but I don't think we'll have to wait as long.

Great find! These look like finalised versions. The figs are AMAZING  The sets are kind of not great, though. Especially the trainwreck (pun intended) of the Temple of Doom. Things especially of note - Indy's ripped shirt (Year of the Shirtless Minifig continues) New Willie torso! (ditto) New Marion torso! Black turbans and great Thuggee torsos! Mola looks like a Tauntaun!

REVIEW: 7634 Tractor
Great review, liquidcross. I like your sense of humour! I can't believe you disobeyed the instructions and built on carpet I'd lock your door. Lego is probably sending around a couple of goons to beat you up even as we speak. Seriously, this is a sweet little set. The minifig is nice and I like the simple design of the tractor. They could have added some red tiles or cheese slopes to smoothen out the extended hubcap arch but it's easy to mod. I love that grain Farm logo too. And it's quite a greebly set for such a small vehicle too Have you thought about joining the Reviewer's Academy?

Space Police 2009!
You have misread me completely. I love this (fake) theme! And Batbrick's bizarro creations have stuck in my memory. Actually the random aspects of what we can see of the new Space Police and exaggerated, cartoony aliens do have a lot in common with the Block Block aesthetic. AFOLs ahead of their time, I tell ya

Space Police 2009!
I am actually saddened that the Lego designers didn't totally steal from adhere more to the Block Block O' Verse. It's seductive combination of bulky spacecraft and garbage collection seemed to perfectly marry the twin super-themes of Space and City. Space Police? Who cares! Space Garbage Collectors? Instant classic. In particular the Dancing Mo Mo Cactus Kitten subtheme seemed to have the balance between brick-built minifig alien freaks and Block-Blockiness just right

REVIEW: 8396 Soldier's Arsenal
I especially like the comparison shot, never having owned any of the old Pirates. Mr Mustachio there does look impressive! The only thing I don't like about the new Imperials is that the red on the Shako looks like a blob of nail varnish dropped over the gold I guess it's like the Castle sets, though - I've yet to open a set with all the shields or horse bardings correctly printed. The part selection is great, with the backpack, navy blue plates and weapons. I look forward to these becoming available (and discounted!) in Australia to army build. Thanks for the review (and new title? ) WhiteFang!

MOC: Fish Monger
Cute! Is this to go with 10193? It would fit perfectly. What you're missing is more explicit entrails! I gutted a whole fresh fish for the first time in years a few weeks ago and had scales flying everywhere around my kitchen! Mess! A suspicious looking cat sniffing around the back of the stall would be a nice touch too

Third Cafe Corner style building in 09
I think it would be fitting to end the series on another corner building as well. I doubt it will be a modular fire station. It doesn't really fit with the 'theme' of detailed City buildings as far as I can tell. We have also seen plenty of great fire station MOCs that are close to or even designed for the modular CC standard, and I don't think Jamie Berard would want to do something similar to what others have produced. Both CC and GG were new and startling, using rare colours and pieces; I hope we will get something similarly innovative. We had seen pics by this time last year. Hopefully there will be news of some exclusives soon.

Looks like Space Police prosecutors won't be calling you as a witness to ID the alien criminal mastermind in court any time soon... The defence would have a field day!

Indy 2009 Discussion Thread
IJ this year is all about the figs, so far. After overdosing on Irina, Mutt and Indy himself last year we are getting spectacular versions of principal characters and villains this year. I had hoped for the Chauchilla cemetery to be based around a colour other than dark bley, but it looks OK. Venice looks like a fun little playset, with the manhole, bridge, cute boats etc. I wonder why we aren't seeing the other sets yet - I thought the second wave was all coming out at the same time.

Space Police 2009!
Yes, they really need to bring back these dome pieces. Only 5 times bigger! Actually I'd be happy with just a space port I'm curious about the unseen Pitstop set though - do we really need to go into that much detail about alien body functions? I'm guessing this will be more of a space gas station.

Space Police 2009!
Love the aliens! Not so keen on their vehicles. The new wingy blade pieces look a little tackola. Basically, I agree with what CP5670 just said Too many stickers on everything but some of the Police vehicles look nice. I hope the big GE has some kind of interior space, which it does look like it should from the bulk of the back section. I love the design work, though. The bubble dome city looks fantastic! Maybe we can have one of those as a S@H exclusive if the line does well

Castle sets 2008/2009
The Drawbridge Defense definitely looks impressive and the Golden Knight looks great. It's a solid little edifice and a great parts pack. Funny how the queen has Willie's hair on the box art! Great mix of figs and parts, this one is a definite must-have. I'm still not loving the Troll Fortress. I appreciate what others say about it having its own troll-style aesthetic, but it doesn't go far enough for my liking. It seems like a half-modded King's Castle Siege replaced with dark bley slopes and the zillion or so leftvoer dark brown slopes produced in 2008 The flame pieces look like lollipops and those seagrass pieces look better in trans-green (and I normally love dark green!). 100 of the pieces from this set must come in the form of Viking horns or dark-red teeth. It's OK, but not amazing.
