Yays! Mine arrived today too! Thanks CopMike! Just go back and insert something meaningful in there
  2. Looks like a nice, solid little build with lots of greebly goodness Thanks for the sweet review!
  3. Thanks Eilif. I did see mention of The Brick in the annual report when it was released, but missed that there was a new issue out I found it a very enjoyable read last year

Thanks for the crystal clear pics & informative review, Oky Wan! And yet how disappointing that these bad minifigure issues haven't been resolved. I wonder if people are just believing the hype that Star Wars is fixed too - I think you should cast your eagle eye over those magnet sets to sift the truth out about those. It seems that 'close enough is good enough' these days - the substitution of green print for lime is just lazy. What, did they not have the right bucket of paint in the factory that day?
  7. You clearly don't watch enough Channel Ten. They were showing ads for the new Airport sets a few weeks back My 6 year old nephew was excited enough to call me and discuss the ins and outs of the plot for a good half hour on the weekend, so it definitely hits the right target audience
  8. If the note was real, OBVIOUSLY it would have been spelled out in anagrams *grabs anything that falls from the dark tan compartments*
  9. Let's open those dark tan 2x2 compartments then!
  10. I'm not a thief but I am growing bored of these baseless accusations I don't know anything I haven't told you and you are beginning to tire me, little man. Do I look like a Monica? Do I? *Sylvia spits* Where do you think I'm hiding these statues? Wait, don't answer that. Let's just stand here trading insults while the real cultists pick us off one by one - although I do still believe from all the spooky apparition that there is a supernatural element to the horrors of thos cursed eclipse.
  11. All I know was the figure wore a cowl! I'm pretty sure they were human, too. They stepped away quickly as soon as I saw them, I'm not sure what else to tell you. You can tell by the buoffant state of my naturally blonde hair that cowls really wouldn't suit my hairstyle, thus proving I am not a cultist! *clunches her Kegels anxiously in fear of the gun-brandishing bad man*
  12. CLIFFHANGER! *stands very still and tries to look photogenic* Wait, who's the villain here? All I did was discover a mysterious clue and glimpse a mysterious stranger, and you pull a gun on me? That is not playing nice I already said I designed a building based on the temple, it's not like a secret. I don't think I trust you now and I'd appreciate some assistance from any manly men in the vicinity who well defend my honour. Or Samantha. ... ....
  13. What's your point?
  14. Can I turn the hand or otherwise 'activate' the statue in any way? I'd also like to rummage around in the bit where the tree has grown through the eroded wall. Is there anything there? Can I see anything behind?
  15. I'd like to stick the stone hand into the statue that's missing one on the right. Fisty shenanigans are afoot. Or ahand, I guess... *waits for someone to pass her her meds* Then I wish to grab whatever object is suddenly revealed before any of the other velcro-pawed nitwits on this tour snatch it from me.
  16. I am an interior designer... I think I know a wolf's head when I see one ROSTER, eh? How intriguing! I wonder if it's an acronym. This is just like a famous movie I saw with that American actor, Tom Hanks. It was about a stranded man on an island not dissimar to this one who saw cryptic religious messages in the disemboweled entrauls of volleyballs. I think it was called 'The Castaway Code'. Any suggestions?
  17. I'd like to remove Johnson Willoughby's bow-tie and stow it in my purse, so I can mail it his descendant, Johnson Johnson, if we ever survive this nightmare. This will have the additional effect of de-gaying the room by 47%. Maybe instead of adding tiles to the studded wall surface, we should remove them from the right hand side and dump them in that empty container? It looks like that's what those are there for. If anyone has a spare fang I'd like to stick it in the dragon head, too.
  18. That statue on the right seems to be missing something... can anyone lend him a hand? Also, that centre statue is kicky or just kind of gay. I wonder if we can straighten him up? The dragon head thingy at the front of the room is also missing a tooth, I note.
  19. I'm amazed you remember it so well! There's so many great buildings in this area for inspiration. Here's a cafe on Elizabeth Bay Road I've had my eye on to do for ages: There's also another great apartment complex on Lizzie Bay Road in dark brown and tan shades which the new PoP arches will work brilliantly for It definitely poses different design challenges to work from something grounded firmly in reality - like certain kinds of photography, it becomes about the lines and shape rather than specific details. They may take offence at any unintended resemblance to the figs I included
  20. The first post has been updated with the promised reference pix Full view showing recessed courtyard and gate. View showing roof tiles. Courtyard detail.

Great display! I rarely have time (or room) to have all sets from a subtheme on display at once so I enjoyed this vicarious view immensely!

An iconic cover rendered very well, but since there is no official Tintin license, this does belong in other themes
  25. It's funny that noone in the UK seems to remember that they have had significantly better prices than the rest of the world (not including the US, of course) on most of the big-ticket items (and many smaller ones) for several years, probably part of LEGO's greater push to dominate the UK market (along with stores, promos, news stories etc). Many members from Europe and Ireland have posted here before about how it has been significantly cheaper for them to purchase a set in the UK and buy a set there rather than in their own country. We can only guess at LEGO's pricing system but it would seem to me that for whatever reason, they decided from the release date of the 10210 Flagship to bump up the standard price for Exclusives in the UK from GBP100 to GBP140. Yes, a 40% increase is a pretty blunt shock to the system but I imagine this is the price point they'll be looking to stick to for the next few years at least. As has said before, LEGO's pricing systems are a mystery and depends on many factors including, I supect, their own internal self-confusion Last year the prices of the Fire Brigade jumped in price $AUD30 from the Green Grocer upon release, and then another $AUD20 in January; the Emporium has gone back to the previous price of $AUD250. Our prices are some of the steepest in the world, factoring in the currently very good exchange rate. Inspired by the Walrus Keeper, I suggest outraged UK members console themselves by purchasing a bargain basement UCS 10179 Millennium Falcon instead. At GBP342.49 this ends up at about $AUD572, which is a good $AUD400 off our retail price of $AUD980 - enough to buy a Grand Emporium and an Emerald Night too!
